We are pleased to present this 2010 BMW HP2 Sport finished in Alpine White. Upon its initial release, the HP2 Sport featured BMW’s most powerful "oilhead" motor ever produced and offered a considerable weight reduction compared with its predecessor.  Standard features include Öhlins suspension, digital race instruments, and carbon fiber bodywork.  This particular model represents the final year of U.S. production and was the sixth-to-last example built for the North American market per the VIN number. It was also specified with the desirable option of an ABS brake system. Purchased by the current owner in 2016 at approximately 2100 miles, this HP2 Sport is now being offered for auction out of Pennsylvania with just over 6k miles showing on the odometer.

This HP2 Sport is finished in Alpine White with contrasting Lupine Blue details and exposed carbon fiber bodywork.  The jewel-like adjustable rear-sets and top yoke are machined from billet aluminum for strength and weight savings. The lower pan is preserved by factory-applied paint protection film and a small scuff is noted on the left side of the rear cowl, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Lupine Blue lightweight forged racing wheels come dressed in OEM-spec Metzeler Sportec M7 RR tires showing 2018 date codes.  The original sticker price for this HP2 is reported to have been $26,995.

The 1170cc flat-twin DOHC eight-valve engine features oil-cooled heads and produces up to 128HP at 8750 RPM, propelling this 392lb. bike from 0-60 MPH in under 3 seconds. Power is transferred through a 6-speed manual single-plate dry clutch transmission. The HP2 also features fully adjustable Ohlins front and rear suspension, radial-mounted Brembo monobloc brakes, optional ABS, and a lightweight carbon fiber aerodynamic fairing. The seller notes that a brake fluid flush and oil change were completed in November of 2019, and that the original in-service date is 12/28/2010. There are no outstanding recalls at this time.

This sale will include a set of two keys, an owner's manual, a toolkit, and a clean title. A proper high-performance sports bike, this HP2 Sport is just waiting to be enjoyed by a new rider, do not miss out.

@hanzonn Nice! I've had two R11S Boxer Cups and N8 Kern talked me into a track day with the first... It was super stable and more than capable of hunting elephants! Always wanted one of their big brothers... I already had a spot cleared next to the ///M3, ///M5 and R11S BCR for this one... would have been a nice little family... guess I'll keep looking... Enjoy it!!

Thanks & sorry Flatline. I just had to have it. I first saw one of these at BMW Days in Garmisch, Germany in 2011 & knew I had to have one someday. I talked to a German who raced them on the European circuit and raved about the quality and handling, but they just couldn’t keep up with the power of the Japanese superbikes. This will be a nice stablemate to my R68. Regrettably, I WILL go elephant hunting with it - even at age 66....

Thanks guys! I thought this had gone Flatline on me, but I think more than one of us got surprised. It's a great bike and I'll look forward to talking to hanzonn and coordinating the handoff. Congratulations!

@Martiniman101 - No problem, please bid if you like, this is a great bike & will make someone very happy....could be you! Tires are date-coded 3518 & 3818, so they are not original, and got spooned on 11/19. They are the 3rd set of tires, I replaced the originals in early 2017.

@Kevin8tor I hear ya... as for the little "Elephant"... same goes for the little Michelin Man on Michelins... ;) Thanks for the detailed info.

@Martiniman101 - Thank you. This bike has never seen a track. Oil has been changed 4 times in my ownership. Brake fluid twice. Last change for both was late '19 at 5,400 on the odometer. I performed those changes. Engine and all components are in perfect working order. At 55 years of age I'm no longer interested in scratching so hard on public roads to work out those chicken strips, thanks for noticing! Fun fact: the Metzler's have a little elephant icon right on the edge of the tire tread, if you're really using the tire - you're "elephant hunting" & it wears off. My elephants are safe for the next owner.

Nice bike. Has it been tracked? All services up to date? Dealer serviced? Or DIY? Low miles I know, but has the oil been changed (break-in serviced)? Fluids look clear... but has it been bled in the 10 years of ownership? I'm assuming there's no surging or odd engine characteristics? Finally, are those brand new tires? Or originals... I still see chicken strips... Ha. Thanks for your time.

@Adam37130 The stand is not included, I have other R-bikes that require it to work on them. Easy to purchase one from Pitbull, though. The picture is very representative of the paint flaw around the screw. The head of that screw is approximately <.5 cm, so the imperfection is pretty darn small, and the location on the tail is down low - not easily noticed. I'm in the Auto business and have access to very good body & paint shops, and could have had it fixed quite easily, but it has never been noticeable enough to be a bother worth addressing. That picture is an extreme close-up for disclosure.

Does it come with the stand? How would you describe the damage around the screw on the plastic by the exhaust?

  • Kevin8tor (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

Good morning all. I'll be available to answer any questions about this beautiful BMW HP2 Sport throughout the auction. It's all stock with no modifications to engine or exhaust, and I am the second owner after purchasing it from the estate of the original owner who was noted BMW Motorcycle collector in NYC. Here is an article in the NY Times about the the original owner and his previoius HP2 Sport: https://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/05/automobiles/05BOXER.html Back in 2010, the original owner already had purchased and dearly loved his 2009 HP2 Sport, but wanted one of the last made for the North American market to squirrel away in his collection. After making inquiries through contacts at BMW Motorrad, he was supplied a list of VINS of bikes that BMW had stored in a warehouse and never released to dealers. He chose the VIN ending in 219 for what I can only assume was a personal reason, and BMW released this bike for sale to him. Sadly, he died in 2014 and the bike at that time had been sparingly ridden for just about 2,100 miles. Most, if not all of his motorcycle collection was consigned by the estate to good friend and BMW Motorcycle dealer, Bob Henig of Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD. That's where I found the bike and when I picked it up, Bob asked to meet me to relay this story of his dear, departed friend and how he came to own one of the last U.S. market HP2 Sports. Bob wouldn't let me leave with the bike until he gave me a personal tour of his own impressive collection housed across the street from his dealership. It was a memorable day, and I hope this bike goes to someone who understands what it is & how rare it is. From 2008 to 2010 only an estimated 115 HP2 Sports were imported for the North American market & some ultimately were reallocated to other markets in North America and elsewhere in the world. You will never pass one of these out on the road, at a bike show, or your local Cars & Coffee - in 5 years and just 4,000 miles of ownership, I've never encountered another HP2 Sport in the wild. Not to mention the countless years & miles I've ridden on my other BMW's - I've never seen another HP2 Sport in person other than my own. If you like beautiful bikes, this is for you. If you like torquey bikes, this is for you. If you like rare bikes, this is for you. With the easily adjusted rear-sets, this bike can be set up for short or tall riders to be equally comfortable. I've done 200 mile days on it and am ready for more. It has the power and handling to run with modern sport bikes & pull away in the twisties, it has a quick shifter for clutchless upshifts (one of the first available, along with the BMW S1000rr), and the Brembo monoblocs are monumentally strong and sure.
