Up for auction is this low-mileage 2010 Porsche 997 Carrera 4S. This black over black example is equipped with a desirable six-speed manual transmission. The car was purchased new in New Jersey and is now being offered in excellent condition by the current owner in New York with 31k miles showing on the odometer.
The blackt paint on this 4S is meter-confirmed all-original, and reported to be in excellent condition with only minor rock chips to the front end. Bespoke to the 4S model, this Carrera features wider rear quarter panels that give it a more aggressive stance. Additionally, the previous owner removed the rear “Carrera 4S” badging for a sleeker look (badging will be included in the sale). Currently installed are a set of factory 19” Turbo wheels that are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires (2014) with a great amount of tread life remaining.
The black leather interior is stated to be in excellent condition. The driver’s side seat shows very little wear with the remaining interior trim pieces in like-new condition. The car was clearly well cared for throughout its life and is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. Nicely spec’d when ordered new, this Carrera 4S had an original MSRP of over $104k with options such as:

This includes a world-class all-wheel drive system, lowered suspension featuring Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), 19-inch Turbo wheels, larger upgraded brakes from the 911 Turbo, and red brake calipers. A recent service has been performed including an oil/filter change, brake fluid flush, drive belt service, and body drain service. The car is said to be in excellent running condition.
The 997 is the second generation of the water-cooled 911 and is said by many to be the last of the analog Porsche sports cars. @997MKII @997MKII, thanks for the intel. That explains why my car felt more alive when activated. I've never driven a 997 without this option.
@woodardsa I can speak to both scenarios because I've owned both 997.2 C4S's with and without Sport Chrono option. The "Sport" button on manual sport chronos serves 2 purposes:
1) It adds the chrono gauge to the dash
2) It is a button that simply engages other buttons When you engage the "SPORT" button, it simultaneously does 3 things:
- Engages the PASM button (standard on ALL C4S models)
- Engages the Porsche Sport Exhaust button (if equipped)
- Engages the "Sport" button, obviously, and here is where the option gets gimmicky...
The Sport button does not add any extra level of performance, it actually adds a level of comfort. the "SPORT" button by itself simply toggles the accelerator pedal response from a numbed comfort level, when the "SPORT" button is OFF, to a sharp response level when the button is ON. In a non-Sport Chrono manual 997.2, consider the throttle response always on "SPORT" setting and sharp, no off comfort setting, which in my opinion shouldn't belong in a 911 in the first place.
Sport Chrono certainly serves a function on the PDK models (mandatory in my opinion) with the "SPORT PLUS" button that engages launch control, a feature not available on any manual 997.2's. It also separates the suspension stiffness and throttle response into 3 tiers (OFF, "SPORT", and "SPORT PLUS").
I have to agree with @Robert718 in that it really doesn't actually do anything productive or add any extra performance on manual 997.2's, rather it adds a gimmicky button and a gauge to the dash that takes away from the classic dash lines. This should make this car more desirable.

@woodardsa I can tell from the pics no. My 2 cents, it’s mandatory in a PDK but on a manual it’s basically useless and ruins the lines on the dash

@ryangfriedman I have been searching for the unicorn manual 911 turbo 2012 or 2013 if they made any that year. I currently own a 2008 turbo and thus far no IMS issues. I have it serviced often to check for any signs of bearing failure. The 997.2 has more horses but don’t know if I could personally appreciate that. Since they don’t make the turbo in a manual anymore I’m looking at the 992 C4S. Though the PDKs are nice I feel you lose connection with the vehicle and gives me a less rewarding experience.
@Mercyhealth easy! You don’t have to deal with any ims issues, concerns or upgrades. The interior & exterior updates - and in my opinion a 991 is a much bigger car and I believe the 997.2 will go down as the last best 911. Look at the values of the 997.2 turbo manuals - these are the last turbos in a manual transmission to ever be produced - the c4s are the turbos brother. As those turbos continue to rise so will the 997.2 c4s. The simplicity of the wide body coupe in a manual is killer. The price point of these cars now are still low giving them the ability to only go up in value. Then find one with original paint - fully serviced and low miles like this...rare is an understatement. Go look on the market and see how many 997.1s there are and how little 997.2s there are in manuals - the proof is in the pudding!

@CRIMLAWGUY correct! And they DO NOT exist. If you go online and look you will barley find any for sale. Finding an unmolested 997.2 manual c4s is like seeing a buffalo walk down park ave in NYC!!!

@ryangfriedman No doubt in my mind. The lower production #’s of the C4S and 997.2 due to the global meltdown, the 997.2 characteristics, the wide hips, and manual is an awesome combination.
@Cavscouts yep! They’re the best - having a 997.2 VS a 997.1 is a big difference! These cars in my opinion are going to be highly collectible as time goes on- and yes what a blast to drive. Anyone who purchases this car will be happy!

I’ve got a 2011 997.2 C4S similar to this one and it’s a dream ride. This car is a great example of the 997.2 C4S and the eventual new owner will NOT be disappointed! GLWTA!
