Up for auction is this 2010 Porsche 987.2 Boxster finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a Sea Blue interior.  The second generation of the 987 Boxster debuted a larger flat-six engine with direct fuel injection along with a new 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.  This 2010 example came optioned with heated front seats, the Parking Assist System, and Sport Chrono Package.  Remaining under the care of its original owner, this Boxster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing just over 35k miles on the odometer.

This Boxster comes finished in Meteor Grey Metallic with a black retractable soft top.  As part of the mid-cycle update, the 987.2 featured new headlights and LED taillights, larger front air intakes with incorporated daytime running lights, and a revised lower rear fascia with a center exhaust tip flanked by twin diffusers.  The driver’s side rear quarter panel is said to have been professionally refinished following a small paint chip sustained from a parking lot ding.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean one-owner CARFAX report.  This 987.2 rides on factory 17” Boxster III wheels dressed in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires dated from 2016 in front and 2017 in the rear with 8/32 and 6/32 tread respectively.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a unique Sea Blue standard leather interior with factory features including heated front seats, the Parking Assist System, Universal Audio Interface, and the Sport Chrono Package.  The seller reports some signs of wear on the driver’s side floor mat and confirms all gauges and accessories to remain fully functional.

This second-generation 987 Boxster carries a 2.9L flat-six engine that sends up to 255 HP and 214 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through an optional 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.  Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is reached in just over 5 seconds with a top speed of over 160 MPH.  The optional Sport Chrono Package adds Sport and Sport Plus driving modes that optimize the performance characteristics for spirited driving. The seller reports that routine annual service has been addressed throughout their ownership and notes that the rear sway bar was replaced in May of 2021 along with the installation of new struts at all four corners.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, the original window sticker, Porsche battery charger, service records, and a clean title.  Having been routinely serviced under the care of its original owner, this 987.2 makes a fantastic choice for any discerning driver in search of a Porsche Boxster.

@zipper Thanks for the info. And it's probably only half again that for the west coast. I wasn't sure but I thought it wasn't that bad.

  • zipper (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@DeaneMP I have estimates for shipping this car ranging from 900 to 1500 to St Louis. Beware of brokers who have no equipment and just want to connect you with someone with a truck. There are fine companies that do this, esp with collector cars.

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@alessio People do ship cars all over the place, although I don't know what the going rates are. But when I asked about the west coast the little Boxster brightened up, noticably...

  • alessio (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

wish i weren't on the opposite coast, I've been looking for a nice 987.2!

@zipper Fairly easy from JFK (train-to-the-plane connecting with LIRR, Port Jefferson line) or there is limo service from both JFK and LAG. But if you flew into Islip it's even closer (Southwest, most likely). Last time I did it a cab was $20 from there. Probably more now.
That would be a fun drive. But I have to say a Boxster is not a touring car; 400 miles and you are more than ready to stop for the night. From personal experience.

  • zipper (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

If I won this bid, how hard is it to get from LGA or JFK to the car so I could drive it home to St Louis?

@tomerific Actually, I should say I'm kind of embarrassed by that. I always meant to take it to a track and at least let it breath some fast air. But it never happened. I grew up in the northern plains and I try to avoid the topic when I visit family.

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @tomerific Easy, never.

Has the car ever been used on a track? And has it been smoked in?

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@patco2927 Oh, the last actual service was last month when the struts etc were replaced. The last regular service, last Nov.

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@patco2927 @patco2927, Hi. Sure. The tire dates and current tread depth are already described above. Last brake fluid flush and fill was in Nov '20. Transmission flush/fill in Nov '14. The car is absolutely ready to drive anywhere. I don't know about videos. It's still raining and blowing outside from the hurricane and I doubt I can get them and have them loaded by the end of the auction, tomorrow. I'll see.

  • patco2927 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Very nice, well prepared and maintained car. Is there any chance you can provide a cold start and short driving video? When was last service performed? Brake fluid flush? Trans service? and age of tires. Any reason why car could not be driven cross country? thank you for your time .

@edsil752 I don't have any problem with that. But let me pass it by PCarMarket.

  • edsil752 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@DeaneMP Top looks really nice. I live in Nassau county. Bad timing with Hurricane coming. And have to drive my daughter to SUNY Buffalo next week. Any chance of looking at car in person?

@sffog1955 They did a really good job, redoing the panel. You always take a chance and the paint chip was really small, but the match was perfect.

  • sffog1955 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@DeaneMP Thank you for posting the pictures I requested.

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

edsil752, they should be up any minute. The top is spotless.

  • edsil752 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

DeaneMP, do you have any pictures with the top up and of the convertible to itself that'll show its condition. Thanks,
    edsil752

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Oops, that reply was for sffog1955. Sorry.

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Stilley, 4 new photos are up. The chip, about 2 grains of sand long, was about 2-3 inches up from the wheel well on the rear side of the seam. These images have a lot of resolution that won't show up on a browser, but if you can grab them (and they haven't been degraded) the first and last images in particular show the seam in detail.

  • sffog1955 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Could you post some pictures of the repaired driver’s side rear quarter panel?

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Yes, thanks. I've gotten a surprising number of compliments. I probably shouldn't say this, but I'm blue/green color blind. So I can't really take too much credit for the choice. Really.

  • slilley (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Looks great, the blue interior is not something you see often! GLWA!

  • DeaneMP (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hi! This is mine. Any questions, let me know. One thing to mention, the car is LoJack protected. I was told at the time that the contract was transferable. They have since been bought out and I have not been able to confirm that is still the case.
