This 2010 Porsche 987.2 comes finished in Black over a matching interior and equipped with optional 19” Carrera S II wheels, Sport Chrono Package Plus, 7-speed PDK transmission, Power Seat Package, and PCM 3.0 along with several other desirable factory add-ons. It was acquired by the current owner from Porsche of Livermore in 2013 and has since been modified for track use including an Alcantara Sport steering wheel, TPC Racing coilovers, a Guard limited-slip differential, GT3 brake ducts, and more. Consistently maintained and enthusiast-owned for the last 10 years, this Cayman S is now being offered for auction out of Nevada while showing approximately 51k miles on the odometer.
This 987.2 is finished in Black and comes equipped with red brake calipers and dual-exhaust outlets as standard on the Cayman S. The lowered ride height complements factory 19” Carrera S II wheels with Porsche-crested center caps. A set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires were mounted in 2022 within the last 500 miles and an additional set of 18” BBS racing wheels with BF Goodrich R1 tires is said to accompany the sale. The seller notes some cosmetic imperfections are present in the finish and clear paint protection film is applied over the lower portion of the hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior includes optional heated and power-operated seats along with automatic climate control, Bose High-End Sound Package, and a Universal Audio Interface. An Alcantara three-spoke Sport steering wheel was installed by the current owner and features integrated paddle shifters for the PDK transmission. The seller notes the pad wear indicator light is present on the dashboard because of the aftermarket racing brake pads.
The naturally aspirated and direct fuel-injected 3.4L flat-six engine is rated at 315 HP and drives the rear wheels by way of a 7-speed PDK transmission. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Cayman S accelerates from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4.5 seconds. This example has been upgraded with a Guard limited-slip differential as well as TPC Racing Tractive coilovers that work in conjunction with the DSC controller. Other modifications include upgraded sway bars and end links, a wheel stud conversion kit, GT3 brake cooling ducts, slotted brake rotors, and front camber plates. The power steering system was replaced in 2016, a reinforced radiator hose was fitted in 2017, and the PDK transmission was replaced in 2017 and again under warranty in 2019. A pre-purchase inspection was also recently completed along with a major service by Reno Rennsport.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals and a clean title as well as the factory suspension, steering wheel, and an extra set of OEM and Pagid yellow brake pads in addition to the extra wheels and tires.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for looking at my special Cayman. It has been modified to be an excellent track car and is still usable on the street. The TPC Tractive suspension has its own ECU that constantly reads the forces on all 4 wheels and adjusts the shocks individually in a few milliseconds. It has racing suspension firmness on the track but loosens up to be drivable every day on the street. Together, we won a Reno SCCA club event in 10/15 and the car has run a 1:27 at Thunderhill 2-Mile, 2:11 at Thunderhill 3 mile, 1:57 at Sonoma, and 1:45 at Laguna Seca. The car has been regularly serviced and maintained at Reno Rennsport under Porsche master technician Jess Lattin. All maintenance is up to date, and it just completed a major service and full PPI.”

Hi everyone. There was some confusion on warning lights on in the driving video, so I posted a new cold start video. In the initial video, the car was low on gas and my seatbelt was not on initially causing the red ! to illuminate. The video cuts to me coming out of a gas station after the car has been turned off and on and you see the brake warning lights come on due to lack of sensors. I reshot the video with my selftbelt on and full tank of gas to show there are no other warning messages active on the dash. The brake warning message takes a few minutes of driving to activate and would have come on eventually. Thanks for looking .

This is a great car, I've ridden in it multiple times at Thunderhill and Sonoma and driven it at Thunderhill. It holds it own against the higher Spec GT4 Caymans and it is extremely reliable (I have been going to the track with the Seller since 2019 and have never seen it have any sort of issue.) I would love to buy it myself but unfortunately I am a low budget enthusiast that has been forced to track lower dollar cars and could not afford to pay the $40K+ this car is worth. However, with the current low bidding I may jump in and snatch it up!

@Brcjets The headliner, and all of the interior is in excellent shape. All of the maintenance is up-to-date and the major was just completed by Reno Rennsport. I have not added the 3rd radiator. I have not had any cooling issues and I did have severeal days at thunderhill in 100 plus degree weather with no problems. Brake cooling has been a different story and I have had great success with the GT3 brake ducts and using cryoed slotted rotors with the track pads.
What is the condition of the headliner?
Did you add the center (third) radiator?
Excluding cosmetics, are there any maintenance items that need addressing?

The setup on this car is optimized for R-comps. For several years I faithfully trailored this car to the track so I could run R1's and Nittos and Hoosiers. Yes, lap times are better with special tires but it just never gets old pulling 1.2-1.4 lateral g's through the corners and feeling the machine glued to the track. My favorite memories are at Laguna Seca seeing people closing in going down the main straight and then double apexing the hairpin at turn 2 and watching them completely dissapear from the rear view mirror.
Having said that the last few years I have gotten lazy and did a few events where I just drove straight to Thunderhill 220 miles each way on street tires, did the event, and drove home. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to fill the back with all my gear and then cruise back without any extra fatigue.
You would get the most out of this car finding a way to get the extra set of wheels to the track, but with the tractive suspension you could drive it everyday. There are a lot of reviews on-line on what its like to live with this suspension, but in a nutshell it's not cushy but absolutely liveable on the street. Track pads squeal like a city bus, so I would recommend swapping them out with the OEM pads if there wasn't a track day in the near future. The cayman calipers have an opening in the top making pad swaps very quick without having to take the caliper off, very thoughful design. Hope this answers your question.
I understand that generally Cayman's are great for being able to drive to the track, run all day and drive home. With these track day / SCCA mods is this the kind of car that could be a daily driven 300 days a year and 3-5 HPDE within 200 miles driving from home? Or is it more of a load on the trailer with the slicks and haul it to the track kind of vehicle?

@Quackbury I didn't move the car when I shot the cold start video so my seatbelt wasn't on. When driving, the red light is the brake warning since the pad sensors are not hooked up.
I have CG locks on the front seat belts. They are are amazing and really keep you planted so I never felt the need to go a racing harness. I definitley considered a partial cage and racing seat but ultimately chose to keep the interior as stock as possible.
Interesting that you are running stock seats and three point belts. Did you ever consider swapping the seats and putting in a partial cage with harnesses?
What is that contraption on the shoulder strap? And why is the restraint system light illuminated during the driving videos?

So that is an error I missed. The 1st PDk was NOT under warranty and I paid for it out of pocket :( Over a short period of time I lost reverse gear although it drove normally otherwise. Rennsport felt it was an o-ring issue but there is really no fix for it, so it was replaced. I drove the car less than 100 miles the next year and when I went back to it It wouldn't back out of the driveway. The shop felt it was not calibrated correctly on install and the 2nd was then replaced under warranty. No problems since.
Otherwise the car has been pretty bulletproof. The only other mechanical issue I've had is a stuck thermometer. I did blow out the power steering doing donuts at a drift-event (my bad) and a wheel was rubbing slightly at full lock that slowly rubbed through a radiator hose, but that was reinforced and corrected. Otherwise I spent my down time at track events reading and relaxing while my subaru and madza friends duct-taped their cars back together :)
Basically I am really backing off on my track days. I am no longer club racing and now I mostly enjoy HPDE and teen-driving event instrcuting so I will only be doing a few track days a year. I am moving to a 991.2 Targa 4s to have a great convertible most of the time and a solid track car when I need one. We had a great decade together, sad to see her go.

PDK replaced under warranty in 2017 and 2019? I'm guessing you have extended coverage due to those dates. Can you elaborate on the issue? Was it the unserviceable sensor within the PDK, or something more daunting? Tasteful add-ons for this driveable DE/track car, but as a 997.2 PDK owner, those numbers are concerning. Mine has been bullet proof so far...
Thanks for looking. Much blood, sweat, and tears went into makeing this a perfectly balanced track toy, and still useable on the street. The DSC tractive suspension https://www.dscsport.com/tractive-suspension/ is truly unique and combined with the Guard limited slip differential provides endless cornering fun. It currently has custom reybestos track pads on, but I am providing an additional set of almost new OEM pads and new Pagid yellow endurance pads in addition to track wheels with R-comps and the original steering wheel and suspension. I am happy to answer any questions.
