Now up for auction is this professionally built and campaigned 2010 Porsche 987 Cayman S race car.  Originally purchased and converted by Napleton Porsche to participate in the Cayman Interseries, this 987 is fully equipped to hit the track with a full roll cage, racing safety equipment, a JRZ Pro suspension, an upgraded limited-slip differential, GT3 brakes, and other performance modifications.  This example is also reported to qualify for PCA (GTB1), IGT, HSR, SVRA, and WRL.  Having been professionally maintained throughout its life, this Cayman S is now being offered in excellent race-ready condition by its seller in Nebraska, accompanied by a bill of sale, a racing logbook, and extra sets of wheels.

This Cayman S is reported to be finished in Carrara White with a custom Jägermeister vinyl livery applied over the full exterior, a nod to Porsche’s racing heritage.  The wrap is said to have been applied in 2013 with some typical track-going wear indicated throughout (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Exterior modifications include a larger front splitter, fiberglass rear decklid, and a larger rear wing.  BBS wheels are currently installed and the stock Cayman S wheels will also be included along with an extra set of BBS wheels (2 of which require repair).

The cabin has been stripped out and transformed into a lightweight racing cockpit.  Modifications include a Hans-compatible Recaro racing seat with a safety harness, a Sparco steering wheel, and a full roll cage.  A fire suppression system has also been integrated along with a CoolShirt system, Motorola radio, and an AIM MXL dash with Smartycam.  The A/C has been removed and the seller confirms all essential gauges and electronics to be fully operational.

A naturally aspirated direct fuel-injected 3.4 L flat-six engine delivers 330 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox with an upgraded Guard limited-slip differential.   This 987 has been made competitive with an upgraded JRZ Pro suspension, Tarmac RSS suspension components, TPC sway bars, 997 GT3 brakes, an M&M exhaust, transmission cooler, RSS underdrive pulley, and a FuelSafe 17-gallon fuel cell.  This Cayman S is said to have been maintained to a very high standard with a full service performed after every track event and routine fluid and filter changes throughout its lifetime.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, a bill of sale, a racing logbook, the factory wheels, and an extra set of BBS wheels (2 rims are damaged).  Reported to be eligible for a variety of racing series, this Cayman S is ready to hit the track with its next owner.

Just came across this auction. (I have a 356 B Roadster currently listed).

I coached the driver of a "sister car" to this maybe 6-7 years ago. The owner of this car is a super good guy and has had several very nice track cars, all impeccably kept. 4,xxx miles is nothing on the DFI motors in these cars. They have proven to be super robust and strong. These cars, properly driven, on slicks are super close in speed to 996 Cup at a fraction of the operational costs.

If I didn't already own 3 track cars, I'd be super tempted, especially at anything close to the current bid.

@csawrsr stock engine outside of software flash to improve throttle response & gain a few Hp. 4290 miles on engine/transmission. This is not a “race” engine. We have run Cayman’s 15,000 miles without issues.
You have to admire Porsche engineering:-)
No issues that would warrant rebuild. No leak down has been done

  • Porsche17 (seller) 3 years, 4 monthsago

@Gioialsf Only injury was to a front quarter panel after going off @ VIR. Hit tire wall, damage was repaired & it raced the next day. Everything then fixed & rewrapped. No damage to tub.

  • csawrsr (registered bidder) 3 years, 4 monthsago

Hello do you know how many hours on the race engine? Have you done a leak down test? Any rebuilding of engine or trans? Please advise thanks

  • Gioialsf (registered bidder) 3 years, 4 monthsago

    Thanks

It is time for someone else to enjoy this Cayman S "Jagermeister" race car. It is very forgiving to drive with power brakes, power steering & ABS. It is also very reliable. Please feel free to ask any questions!
