Up for auction is this 2011 Porsche 997.2 Carrera Coupe finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a black standard leather interior.  The second generation of the Porsche 997 debuted several major revisions including the option of a new 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission offering lightning-quick gear changes.  This PDK-equipped 2011 example came factory optioned with heated and ventilated seats, the Bose Surround Sound System, and 19” Carrera S II wheels.  An upgraded Top Gear Valvetronic exhaust system has been installed and the optional Sport Chrono Package was also retrofitted by an authorized Porsche dealer.  The car was originally sold in March of 2011 from Harper Porsche Audi Jaguar in Knoxville before eventually being acquired by the current owner in April of 2019 at 24,528 miles.  With approximately 5k miles driven since, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Nevada while showing just over 29k miles on the odometer.

This Carrera came finished in Meteor Grey Metallic with optional 19” Carrera S II wheels.  The front bumper is said to have been refinished for cosmetic purposes under previous ownership before a layer of clear paint protection film was installed.  A full ceramic coating has also been applied and the seller notes that the car has always been garage-kept, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  Clear European-style side marker lenses have been installed and the original amber lenses are also said to be available.  The car rides on a set of new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires mounted in February of 2021.

Inside, you will find a black standard leather interior with heated and ventilated 12-way power seats.  The optional Infotainment Package adds the Bose Surround Sound System, XM radio receiver, and Extended Navigation Module for PCM.  Self-dimming mirrors are also included as part of the Comfort Package.  The Sport Chrono Package was retrofitted by a Porsche dealer with Sport and Sport Plus buttons located on the center console alongside a Porsche Sport Exhaust switch.  The seller reports very minimal signs of wear throughout the cabin and notes that the carpets have been protected by OEM Porsche all-weather floormats.

This second-generation 997 Carrera is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine featuring direct fuel injection and an output of up to 345 HP stock.  The rear wheels are driven through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, providing a 0-60 time of approximately 4.5 seconds.  The retrofitted Sport Chrono Package allows the driver to optimize performance characteristics, while the Porsche Sport Exhaust switch operates the aftermarket Top Gear Valvetronic exhaust system.  The car is reported to have undergone all scheduled service, and a thoroughly documented history of maintenance is said to accompany the sale along with the original exhaust components.  The last oil and filter change was carried out by Trophy Performance of Las Vegas in February of 2021 at 28,504 miles.

This sale will include a set of two keys, a binder of service records, the original exhaust, carpet floormats, a battery charger, a Porsche car cover, a Porsche sunshade, a Durametric diagnostic tool, and a clean title.  Well maintained and nicely equipped, this low-mileage 997.2 Carrera makes a perfect choice for any discerning driver in search of a modern Porsche 911.

Hey everyone, I was back at the glass shop today for the reseal. Everything should be fine now. I’ll let the glue sit overnight and record a driving video in the morning.

If for ANY reason it still has a sound, rest assured I will get it taken care of. This car is way too nice to accept anything less.

If you have any questions, please ask.

  • mdavidson (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Yesterday’s driving video has been added.

@LesterD thanks for your comment. Yes it will be addressed prior to auction close. At my request, the glass shop overnighted a new Porsche OEM rubber molding, which will be installed tomorrow. They will pull the glass, clean, reseal, and reinstall again. Bid with confidence.

I forwarded this AM's driving video to the PCarmarket guys, so they should have it posted first thing in the AM. The wind noise is slightly noticeable, but with the reseal tomorrow the noise will go away.

  • LesterD (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Will the wind issue be addressed before the auction ends? Looking forward to the additional videos.

  • mdavidson (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Hi everyone, on my drive this morning I heard a bit of wind coming from the front windshield which was recently replaced (the windshield got a crack right before the listing went live, so I replaced it with original Porsche OEM glass from the Czech Republic — the factory glass manufacturer).

I’m back at the glass shop to address the noise right now. The noise is faint, but I’m a perfectionist and want the shop to address it.

When my video editor sends me the driving video (soon I hope), you may or not hear it, but rest assured I am addressing it.

    Cheers!

I just recorded a driving video this AM and will upload later today. Please check back shortly for that. Thanks again.

I hope everyone is having an excellent weekend!

If you’re planning to win this auction and pick up the vehicle in person, you’ll want to make time for three excellent driving spots in the Las Vegas area:

    1) Red Rock Scenic Loop (35 minutes west of the Las Vegas strip)
    2) Valley of Fire (1 hour north east)
    3) Mt. Charleston (45 min north west)

@BobG thanks for kicking off the bidding

I’ve had a few people ask what “former CPO” means. It means that the car was previously sold as a Certified Pre-Owned car from Porsche. See images 81 to 92 in the gallery.

    **Note to all bidders**

For the auction winner I’m happy to replace the exhaust with the original and sell the after market exhaust separately.

So everyone, you’ve got options. Who’s going to take home this beautiful, well documented, former CPO, second gen 997 in PDK?! I mean just look at those photos!

    Any questions just ask.

  • mdavidson (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Correct, the exhaust is a cat-back exhaust, meaning it bolts on after the cats, so the cats are unaffected. It’ll pass emissions anywhere a stock 911 would.

  • raider89 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Please excuse the dumb questions, so the aftermarket exhaust still utilizes a catalytic converter and passes emissions testing accordingly?

  • mdavidson (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

All DMs so far have been responded to

  • raider89 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Thanks for your prompt responses, super nice car, am watching!

  • mdavidson (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@raider89 I took a photo showing the DME and today's date. I'll ask the PCar guys to get that uploaded to the photo section for you. My understanding is that the PDK electronically limits overrevs (as is the case when using Sport Plus or launch control, for example), so no issues there. thanks again

  • mdavidson (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@raider89 the Top Gear Valvetronic exhaust offers a dual-tone for the exhaust. Push the PSE button and the valves open, giving a nice deep sound at idle and acceleration. Push the button again and they close, giving a more subdued exhaust note. It works just like a PSE exhaust. Check out the third video for a few warm revs with the exhaust on "open".

Regarding performance, Top Gear claims a 15Bhp/17 ft-lbs gain with the valves open, and +8HP/10 ft-lbs of torque with valves closed. But for me it's really about the sound.

Regarding the DME report, I haven't pulled one but I could if you'd like. The PDK has not been serviced. At the February 2021 service, Trophy Performance recommended waiting to service the PDK given noting that the "transmission felt smooth" and that it hadn't seen enough miles.

    Thanks for your questions.

  • raider89 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Am also curious, did you pull DME report using the Durametric? Ever had any service on PDK?

  • raider89 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Help me understand Top Gear Valvetronic exhaust system: what does it do and what benefits does it offer?

  • mdavidson (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Hey everyone, a few words on the Sport / Sport Plus retrofit for the PDK transmission.

Some 997.2 PDK cars were optioned from the factory without the Sport Chrono Package. With the retrofit, you get all the features of the Sport Chrono Package without the lap timer on the dash. You now choose comfy or sporty performance at the touch of a button.

In Sport mode the engine is more responsive, revs higher, and the time between shifts is shortened to milliseconds. In Sport Plus, you get launch control and a race track shift strategy. This mod makes it feel like you're driving a completely different car. IMO, it's a must have.

This car came from the factory with all the comfy options checked: Comfort Package, Infotainment Package, XM radio, heated and cooled seats, 12-way power seats, Bose surround sound, etc. With the retrofit, it checked all the boxes for me. When you drive it you'll see what I mean.

    Any questions just ask.

Hi everyone, thank you for viewing my 2011 Porsche Carrera! This has been a fantastic car to own and is a true joy to drive.

This morning I took the car to Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas (great guys) to do the paint meter readings (see photos). No irregularities, of course. With the full ceramic coating, the car looks as good as the photos indicate. Car cover, sunshade, extra mats, etc. all included in the sale.

The car has new tires, PDK transmission, Sport / Sport Plus retrofit by Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas, aftermarket exhaust with OEM PSE dash switch, extensive service records, recent service -- everything you'd expect. The car is a former Porsche CPO car and drives like it.

I'm ready to answer any questions you have and look forward to a lively and engaging comment section. Best of luck!

    Mitch Davidson
