We are pleased to present this 2011 Porsche 997.2 GT3 finished in Black.  The last of the GT3s to use the venerable Mezger engine design, the 997.2 remains one of the celebrated and highly collectible modern Porsche’s on the road. This one-owner 2011 example was sold new from Prestige Imports Porsche of Lakewood, Colorado, where it was regularly serviced before moving with its owner to Newport Beach, California, in 2013.  It came factory optioned with a lightweight battery, black leather seats, and the Front Axle Lifting System.  Dealer-maintained throughout its entire life and with under 7k miles showing on the odometer, this outstanding GT3 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This GT3 comes finished in Black and is distinguishable as a 997.2 version by revised front and rear fascias, a prominent front spoiler, LED lighting, redesigned rear wing, and center-locking aluminum wheels. The car has been garage-kept and sparingly driven throughout its life while preserved under a layer of clear paint protection film over the front end and mirror housings.  The seller adds that the car has never been subjected to track use, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  The factory 19” GT3 wheels remain dressed in their original Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

The cabin is trimmed in black leather with Alcantara accents on the Sport Seats, steering wheel, door panels, shifter, and brake handle.  The interior is described to have been very well maintained with minimal signs of wear present.  Factory features include automatic climate control, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), a Bluetooth phone interface, Universal Audio Interface, a fuel cap with aluminum-look finish, a lightweight battery, and the Front Axle Lifting System.

This second-generation 997 GT3 carries a naturally aspirated 3.8L Mezger flat-six generating up to 435 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque. This dry-sump engine features titanium connecting rods, VarioCam variable valve timing, a two-stage resonant induction system, and a sport exhaust with twin center tailpipes.  The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission with a locking differential and auxiliary oil cooler. This GT3 was regularly serviced for the first two years by Prestige Imports Porsche of Colorado with all subsequent services carried out by Porsche Newport Beach since 2013.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner's manuals, and a clean title. A beautifully presented example of one of the all-time great modern Porsches, this 997.2 GT3 is a true collector's item.

  • emotoringllc (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

We have just uploaded the DME Report on the car that was run this morning at Porsche Newport Beach. The report will speak for itself, and according to one of their Master Techs, they have never seen a GT car from this vintage in this type of condition. There are ZERO over-revs!! In addition we were able to put it on a lift and get some updated undercarriage photos.

@TheBaron The date codes are visible on the photos of the tires. They are all original tires from Q4 2010. The tires do not have any visible cracking are are in excellent condition, given their age. The original tires are a key indicator of how the car was maintained and driven. A 10 year old GT3 with this low mileage AND factory original tires with so much tread left on them is a good sign and valuable for any prospective buyer, as they assess the vehicle. The price of new tires for the buyer of this special GT3 is probably not going to factor into their decision making process.

  • GlennG 2 years, 5 monthsago

@TheBaron you can see date codes on tires. 2010. They are originals. Figure in the price of new rubber to you bid amount if you plan on driving this car rather than sticking it in a collection. On a car like this, I prefer to see original tires. Speaks to how gently the car was driven. The cost of new tires is almost irrelevant on a $175k+ car.

The debate about Sports Chrono is more relevant on non-GT cars where the sports chrono option is tied to the "sport button", and thus also controls other functions such as throttle mapping, PASM, PSM, exhaust, shift points (on PDK) and turbo boost, depending on model.
However, GT3s are different in that they all come with the sport button, irrespective of having or not having the sport chrono package. You don't miss out on any of the functions controlled by the sport button if you don't have Sport Chrono. Therefore, Sport Chrono on a GT3 gets you only the dash chronometer and dashboard lap timer. On models equipped with PCM 3.0, you get Sport Chrono Package PLUS, which gives you additional lap recording and analysis functionality on the NAV screen. I happen to like the look of the dash chronometer, especially if you get it in an accent color, but having or not having sports chrono would probably never impact my buying decision. It's one of the least important options on a GT3.

  • Plunen (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Are you planning on posting a DME report?
    Beautiful car.

  • TheBaron (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    Nice mileage!
    Date codes on the tires?
With Michelin‘s recent announcement of a 14% global price hike, this could be a +/- $2000 question??

  • emotoringllc (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Kupplungspedal The Sport Chrono option is merely a clock and timer, as you mention. The option is a very subjective topic and one where we find that most GT3 owners prefer the clean lines of the dash, without the clock. However, it is open to much internet debate.

  • Kupplungspedal (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Could anyone comment on the fact the car does not have the Chrono package. Other than the dash top stopwatch/ timer is there anything else that would have come with this option? Thank you

  • GlennG 2 years, 5 monthsago

You gotta love Porsche guys. A car with no options is "enthusiast spec". A fully loaded car is "collector spec". Anything in between, which is how most cars were ordered, is just "mehhh".

  • CBRacerX (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Wow, even more “pure” than my 997.1 “Driver’s Edition” with low options. Kinda odd that the only option was FAL but hey, that’s a nice feature. Super low miles and amazing condition and the “rarity” of low options should put this in the big $ bracket.

I regrettably sold my 2010 GT 3 several months ago
Mine did not have the sport Chrono and I like the smooth Dash look better frankly
These are unbelievable Porsche’s and with these low miles this beauty should do well
    Good luck to all

  • GlennG 2 years, 5 monthsago

Beautiful presentation. Unlike lesser 911s, the GT3 can get away with a bare bones spec. Some may even prefer it. Save the deviated stitching and leather wrapped dome lamp cover for the commuters. This track weapon only needs its Mezger engine, Getrag gearbox, and scalpel like driving dynamics. This one should do well.

  • emotoringllc (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

We are pleased to offer this stunning 1-owner 2011 Porsche 997.2 GT3 for sale on PCarMarket. This is a beautiful example of the very rare and desirable 997.2 GT3 with the last of the Mezger engines. We look forward to answering any questions that you may have about this car. Good luck to the bidders.
