A final salute to the venerated Mezger engine as well as the ultimate evolution of Porsche’s 997, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 was produced in a limited series of just 600 cars worldwide featuring more aggressive aerodynamics, unique trim, a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a special 4.0-liter flat-six producing up to 500 HP.  This Carrara White 2011 example, #214, was particularly well-equipped from the factory including optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), the Front Axle Lift System, Sport Chrono Package Plus, GT Silver Metallic wheels, and the Extended Carbon Package.  Rigorously maintained and accompanied by supporting records, this highly collectible GT3 RS 4.0 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing just over 4k miles on the odometer.

This GT3 comes finished in its debut theme of Carrara White with contrasting red and silver accents and lettering as well as optional GT Silver Metallic painted wheels.  Compared to the standard GT3 RS, the 4.0 version sports front dive planes for additional downforce to accommodate a more aggressively angled rear wing.  The factory 19” center-lock wheels come dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and a service record shows two pressure sensors were replaced earlier in 2021.  Clear paint protection film has been applied over the full front end and ahead of the rear wheels, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The cockpit of the 4.0 is trimmed in a unique combination of Black leather and Red Alcantara including carbon-fiber bucket seats and special lightweight door panels with red pull straps.  Other details include carbon fiber door sills with the “RS 4.0” logo, a serialized limitation plaque above the glovebox, and a special titanium blue central tachometer dial with gear shift indicator and model logo.  This example features the Extended Carbon Package with air vents in carbon fiber, belt outlet trim in carbon fiber, and a rear center console in carbon fiber.  Deviated stitching spans the dashboard, door panels, center console, and rear compartment.  A complete list of factory options can be found below:

  • 24901  Dashboard Stitching Dev. Color
  • 24902  Door Stitching in Dev. Color

This sale will include a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, and a clean title.

@HillClimber72 yes. That was not a bid. If we don’t reach reserve we contact the highest bidders before placing the car in to DealTank. If a satisfactory number is met the car is sold, similar to many live auctions.

  • GlennG 2 years, 1 monthago

@HillClimber72 When reserve is not met, PCAR tries to work out a deal with the high bidder and seller. If they agree on a price, they post that as a final bid amount and mark the car as sold.

  • HillClimber72 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

How does this site allow the final bid to come in 15 minutes after the bidding had been stopped? And why isn't the clock set for another two minutes after this late arriving bid?

Interesting . I believe this car was just sold at Sloan’s and already for sale again . Hope an end user gets it

  • HillClimber72 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

    @porschecollector Never said I was a collector.

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Dealer is the highest bidder on this thing , that should tell you something

  • bankownedguy (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@HillClimber72 my friend has a 4.0 with comfort seats and drives it. Has over 15k miles. Life is short

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@HillClimber72 right than you need to get AC delete and radio delete AND 100 miles on it , rather than 2500 or 4K , but these cars with under 1k miles are all 900 plus

  • HillClimber72 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@porschecollector Most all 4.0's won't be driven, that's just the reality. I know the person that bought the AC, radio delete car and he's not driving it. I only know one other guy besides myself who drives their 4.0. Yes sometimes AC and a radio are nice to have, but collectors can see things differently.

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

    @bankownedguy I agree 100 percent !

  • bankownedguy (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Guys the 911R is an amazing machine no doubt, but it is trying to be what this car is. My opinion (have driven both extensively) is that this car will be worth at least twice what the R will be. Production numbers alone dictate that.

@HillClimber72 @dcd0611 @hillclimber72 if you guys like driving a car with no AC and staring at a hole
In the center of the dash than I guess it’s more valuable for you

@dcd0611 I would agree. How many were ordered with radio and AC delete? Very few, if more than one. That car also had around 2,500 miles if I remember.

  • dcd0611 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I think the no A/C and radio delete are believed to make them more rare and thus more valuable .

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

In any case whoever purchases this car for whatever it is sold for now even if it is over market value for today and your looking to hold the car , there’s no wrong price you can pay for one of these cars today , they are the best ever made in my opinion

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@mc11040 last year there was a gt2rs that sold for 515k here and than the same car sold for I believe 680k a red 2rs here on pcarmarket , so these cars when they do pop us the market shifts on them , as per the 4.0 cars on bat they didn’t even have Navs or aC I believe they were each about 15k lower in the msrp even the car that did 680 if you compare it to that car if it did 680 in December , def worth 750 now

  • mc11040 2 years, 1 monthago

Bid in the amount of $660,000

  • mc11040 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@porschecollector Got it. The 11k-mile one had basically no options; the one that sold for $680k did have PCCBs and few other options. The DME reports showed zeroes on both cars, but you may personally know more about the specific car/owner.

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@mc11040 those cars had absolutely no options , bad DME reports 12k mile car was a track rat , can’t compare to the level of quality this car is , plus it was last December ? I wouldn’t compare pricing to last December pricing especially
On a car that hasn’t popped up for sale
    In the last 6 months

  • mc11040 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I would think the closer comps would be the actual RS 4.0’s that sold in December - one at $680k and one at $530k (11k miles).

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@dcd0611 they did make more across the world , but the same amount for the states , the 4.0 was always 100k more , and that car had 2700 miles I believe and didn’t even have bucket seats

  • dcd0611 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

    Interesting . I believe Porsche made approx 100 more GT3RS 4.0 than GT2RS 600 vs 500 and I believe that 2RS had sub 1k miles .

  • porschecollector (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

In all reality , this car was always about 100k more market value than the 2011 GT2RS , as these cars don’t pop up for sale almost ever , the last gt2rs sold for 780.000 on bring a trailer a few months ago there hasn’t been for sale since , this car realistically should Atleast fetch 800 Wich would be a good deal probably in my mind , I guess we shall see what this beauty does , good luck everyone

Just want to thank everyone for the bids and views on this truly special automobile. As the final day approaches, we would like anyone in the Northeast who is interested to know that the car has been sent to PCARMARKET headquarters in NY for the photographs and it still resides there until the auction ends. Feel free to arrange a last minute inspection if desired, this car is in impeccable shape, I cannot stress that enough. Best of luck to all!

  • SpeedJunky (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

For the US cars with Carrara white exterior, 22 came with black wheels and 28 with Gt Silver. The rest were with white wheels.

  • allthingsporsches (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@gregcasals most white 4.0 cars came standard with white wheels , black I don’t think from factory on a white car , I mean maybe in Europe there’s only 130 of these for the US total

  • gregcasals (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@allthingsporsches I am confident there are also 4.0's with black rims as well.

  • allthingsporsches (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    I mean this example

  • allthingsporsches (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

  • allthingsporsches (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@dcd0611 they all have white rims , the silver rims is actually the rare ones

  • dcd0611 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago
