Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of BMW’s M division, the 2012 BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Silver Edition features a unique Frozen Silver Metallic finish over a black leather interior with silver stitching and comes equipped with the Competition Package as standard equipment. A total of 140 cars were produced in total with 40 designated for the United States. This example is reportedly the only U.S. spec car to have been converted to a 6-speed manual transmission and has spent most of its life in California. Routinely serviced under the care of its current owner and with approximately 30,500 miles showing on the odometer, this rare M3 is now being offered for auction out of California.

The M3 can be differentiated from a standard E92 3-Series Coupe by its wider front fender vents with integrated LED turn signals, more aggressive bumpers and side skirts, carbon fiber roof panel, aluminum power dome vented hood, quad exhaust tips, and a rear decklid spoiler.  This limited-edition model is finished in matte Frozen Silver Metallic paint with high-gloss Shadowline trim and has been fitted with aftermarket front splitters as well as LED angel eye headlights. It rides on factory 19” Style 359 Competition forged Package wheels dressed in Pirelli P Zero run-flat tires dated from 2020 in front and 2018 in the rear. The seller notes the car’s exterior was completely refinished under their ownership and repairs were completed in 2016 following an accident under prior ownership as shown on the CARFAX report. The exterior is preserved by matte ceramic coating. The seller notes a few chips are present on the front bumper as well as some scratches on the body panels, a ding on the driver’s side upper A-pillar, and some paint fading on the upper passenger side A-pillar. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is upholstered in black Novillo leather with silver contrast stitching, silver seatback stripes, and carbon fiber trim. Accessories include a black Alcantara shift boot with M tri-color stitching, an illuminated ZHP shift knob, a custom embroidered “M Power” handbrake cover, M3-branded door sills, and a three-spoke M steering wheel. Factory equipment includes heated and electrically adjustable front seats with memory, Anthracite headlining, automatic climate control, rear Park Distance Control (PDC), cruise control, a BMW Individual Sound System, and iDrive with Navigation System Professional. The seller indicates some wear is present on the driver’s seat and armrest. All accessories and electronics are said to be working properly.

The E92 M3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter S65 V8 engine featuring individual throttle bodies and double-VANOS valve timing. As much as 414 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels by a replacement 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The optional Competition Package adds stiffer springs with a 10mm lower ride height, a remapped Electronic Dampening Control system, and a sport-tuned Dynamic Stability Control system. The seller notes the muffler has been modified for a deeper tone and oil changes have been completed using Liqui Moly every 3-4k miles.

This sale will include owner’s manuals and a branded title (salvage/rebuilt).

The seller would like you to know: “This M3 does not have a DCT like all of the other 39 frozen silver in North America as I have done a full manual swap which makes it even more special. It currently has 30,586 original miles on the clock. It was my weekend car knowing how rare these Frozen Silver Editions are. The M3 was in California for most of its life, so it did not see any snow. Unfortunately, it does have a salvage title due to an accident made by the previous owner 7 years ago. The car was professionally repaired in 2016 and has had zero issues during my ownership. Oil changes were done every 3-4k miles during my ownership. The last oil change was done less than 1,000 miles ago. Car is fully ceramic coated with Dr. Beasley’s matt protection.”

@Racedog The rotors look slightly rusty because the car hasn't been driven often to preserve the mileage especially when it was posted up for sale. But they do need to be replaced in approximately 8-10k miles.

  • dl123 (seller) 5 months, 4 weeksago

@KY_502 Due to the car only having 30k miles I have not done the rod bearings or actuators. Especially because the car has had proper oil changes and was properly warmed up before driving..

  • Racedog (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

In the pictures, both front rotors appear to be significantly worn and ready for replacement. Is that the case?

  • KY_502 (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

Have the Rob bearings and throttle actuators been done?

@Hangar7 The swap is done as if it came like that from the factory so no engine lights or anything like that all. All the modules in the car see this car as a manual.

  • Hangar7 (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

Does the transmission swap require anything to trick the computer in the car? Or is it just a plug and play kind of thing? Want to make sure there’s no engine light or smog issue.

@Hangar7 Pictures are uploaded of when it was at my shop. I don't have receipts of repair work as it was repaired by myself in my bmw shop I used to own. The m3 is my personal car I drove for 6‐7 years.

  • Hangar7 (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

Do you have any pictures of the accident or damage? Receipts for the repair work?

Thanks, looks like a great opportunity to own a special driver e92.

  • dl123 (seller) 6 monthsago

The M3 had minor damage to the front. The left fender, front bumper, some of the radiators and radiator support were replaced with original bmw parts. There was no damage beyond the radiators, frame was intact.

  • Jeffe2020 (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

Do you have any information regarding the extent of the accident as well as records of the repairs? That could help clear the mystery of the salvage title.
