Evoking the iconic 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, the SLS AMG debuted in 2009 as the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to have been completely designed and built by AMG, and the Roadster version followed in 2011 featuring a triple-layered fabric soft-top roof system constructed from magnesium, steel, and aluminum. This 2012 example is finished in Himalayas Middle Gray Metallic over a Brown leather interior, optioned with AMG carbon ceramic brakes, AMG Ride Control dynamic suspension system, and carbon fiber interior trim. Accompanied by a service history on CARFAX, this SLS AMG Roadster is now being offered for auction out of New York with approximately 63k miles on the odometer.
This SLS was ordered in Himalayas Middle Gray Metallic (756U) with a power black convertible soft top. Details include bi-xenon headlights with washers, a vented hood and fenders, power-folding side mirrors, a speed-activated rear wing, Parktronic parking sensors, and dual trapezoidal exhaust tips integrated into the bumper. The forged staggered-diameter wheels measure 19” in the front and 20” in the rear, mounted with Bridgestone and Michelin tires respectively. Some imperfections are noted throughout the exterior along with a small indentation above the rear license plate and a minor paint chip in the rear bumper guard. The seller states that the front bumper has been refinished. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is upholstered with Brown leather including a matching dashboard and door panels, contrasted by a black microfiber headliner and optional gloss carbon fiber trim. The heated and power-operated seats feature black piping and AMG badges on the backrests. Driver amenities include Keyless Go keyless entry, a COMAND multimedia screen with navigation, a rearview camera, the Track Pace App, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a six-disc CD changer, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wind deflector, the AIRSCARF warming system, and an AMG Performance leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters.
A 6.2-liter M159 DOHC V8 lies beneath the hood, generating up to 563 HP and 479 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 7-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission, carbon fiber composite driveshaft, and a limited-slip differential. The SLS Roadster can reach 60 MPH in just 3.6 seconds and continue to a top speed of nearly 200 MPH. Performance features the optional AMG carbon ceramic brakes and AMG Ride Control dynamic suspension system, along with a 3-stage ESP (Electronic Stability Program) with acceleration skid control, and selectable AMG Drive Unit driving modes. The CARFAX report shows 23 service history records dating back to 2012, with two recent services carried out by authorized Mercedes dealers throughout New York since 2020.

PCarMarket has just accepted my factory SLS AMG Delius-Klasing presentation book for auction in the coming weeks, so the buyer of this gem of an SLS should be sure to have a look. Most early SLS AMGs came with this book that was later discontinued, but most have been separated from their cars.
