The updated 997.2 version of Porsche’s flagship 911 Turbo sports car was introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show with refreshed styling and a larger, more-powerful twin-turbocharged engine as well as the option of a new 7-speed PDK transmission making for one of the quickest cars on the road. This 2012 example comes finished in Black over a matching full leather interior and comes equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, a limited-slip differential, and painted interior trim along with a SportDesign steering wheel, exclusive painted wheels, and seats with Porsche-crested headrests. It was sold by its original owner on PCARMARKET in 2021 and was recently sold at again auction in 2023, although the buyer was unable to complete the transaction. This Turbo Coupe is being offered for auction once again by its seller out of Missouri while showing approximately 9k miles on the odometer.

This Turbo is presented in Basalt Black Metallic with a black cabriolet roof and 19” 911 Turbo II wheels in an optional body-colored finish. The wide bodywork includes Turbo-specific bumpers, integrated side air intakes, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. Noted imperfections include some small chips on the hood and blemishes on the left rear bumper. Clear paint protection film is also applied over the rear quarter panels. The seller states that the vehicle sustained front-end damage while under the second owner’s care in July 2022 at 8,028 miles which resulted in a CARFAX damage report and a salvage title. The seller notes that all necessary repairs have been carried out to restore the car to its original condition including a front left strut, knuckle, tie rod, control arms, wheel, and radiator. The seller adds that the car is fully aligned and there is no frame/unibody damage present. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a full CARFAX report and a recent third-party repair assessment.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a Black full leather interior featuring heated and ventilated front seats with exclusive Porsche-crested headrests, an optional SportDesign steering wheel, and a painted trim strip and rear center console. Some signs of wear are noted on the handbrake lever as well as a small chip on the center console. The seller adds that the original batteries in the tire pressure sensors have died and the TPMS light is present on the dashboard.

Up to 500 HP and 480 lb.-ft of torque comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine that drives all four wheels by way of a 7-speed PDK transmission with an optional limited-slip rear differential. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package including Dynamic Engine Mounts, the 997.2 Turbo can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in as little as 3.2 seconds. The transmission was reportedly replaced under the previous owner’s care at 3,441 miles. Services were completed by Greenwich Porsche including a complete cooling system flush, brake fluid exchange, an oil and filter replacement, and a new battery in February 2023.

The sale will include the owner’s manuals along with a collection of records and a “prior salvage” title. The original window sticker is not included.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for watching my auction. I purchased this car to replace my 2009 non-turbo. I performed the repairs personally in my shop and used only Porsche parts. The car is in factory condition and drives, shifts, and presents itself very well.  It is just too nice to make my daily driver and have decided to keep my '09. I did my best to provide a thorough description of the repair. Please let me know if you have questions or need more details which I am happy to provide.”

It’s tough to sell a salvage title. Without that this 911 belongs well into the 6 figures.

@Sailorman50 After the work I did the last step is inspection by Missouri State insp. then title is "clean" as in able to be registered and licensed, this makes the title "prior-salvage" instead of "salvage". That looks to have triggered the "rebuilt title sold in carfax.

@fjthomas427 I would drive across country with new tires, no reason not too.

  • FlyingZ (seller) 10 monthsago

@fjthomas427 The only independent inspection was the one from LS. No topping off of AC system needed, I do a vacuum and hold check for an hour, no leaks, then charge. Cold air like my 2009, don't feel there is any issues with AC. Coolant did require some topping off but I have found that to be normal with these, even after a total vac of cooling and refill, there is some air that eventually comes out and then I topped off. Only once needed after maybe two drive totaling 100 miles.

Why does the CARFAX show an auction sale in May of 2023?

  • fjthomas427 (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

If tires are replaced....would you drive the car on a 500 mile trip?

  • fjthomas427 (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

Does the a/c and heat function as designed? Also, when you initially charged the system, after repairs, has it required 'topping' off at any time since and do you have any air temps at vents? Finally, has any independent inspection been performed....date?

@TubeGuy Guy that painted it is one of the best I know. Uploading better walk around now.

  • TubeGuy (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

Looks like a nice opportunity for somebody. Painting black properly is challenging and your walk around walks around the rear, and not where the car was repaired. Kind of a half-walk around.

  • FlyingZ (seller) 10 monthsago

@TubeGuy I did run it here and winning bidder did not secure payment. Not sure how that is allowed as I feel you should have money in pocket before you bid. They recommended we relist so here it is.

@TeamSled Tires are original, old and need replaced. I took photos of damage to that tire/wheel to be clear on any issues, I agree, the full report shows pics of same tire wheel issue but no mention of it.

@TeamSled I performed the repairs in my personal shop. I restore motorcycles and cars, and have done this type of work for over 25 years as a hobby/business. This was one of the easiest, basically replaced left shock, and wheel, checked alignment, perfect. Then replaced knuckle, control arms and tie rod as precaution. Re-aligned again, perfect with plenty of adjustment available. Then replaced radiator and condenser, flush and fill cooling system and AC. Replaced bumper fender and headlight. Painted only the bumper and fender with perfect match, no blending onto factory body panel paint. Perfect panel gaps and drives smooth and straight, even with the old original tires. My plan was to replace wheels and tires but decided to sell and keep my non-turbo and use the money on more classic cars. Thanks for questions, It is extremely nice car.

I’m surprised Lemon Squad didn’t point out a chuck of the sidewall on one of the tires being gone…

  • TeamSled (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

What is the name of the shop that did all the repairs?

The tires are original and so the sensors have low batteries at this point. This will be addressed when new tires are installed.
