The 997.2 GTS carries a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine that has been factory tuned to achieve a higher output of 408 HP, compared with the standard Carrera S output of 385 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission with an optional limited-slip rear differential lock. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is achieved in as little as 4.3 seconds with a top speed of nearly 190 MPH. Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE) and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) are equipped as standard and the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus adds a launch control function while allowing the driver to select different performance settings while underway.
