Finished in Platinum Silver Metallic over a Black interior, this 2012 Porsche 997.2 Carrera S Coupe features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.8-liter flat-six engine. The car was configured at an original sticker price of just under $100k with optional 12-way power Comfort Seats, the Comfort Package, Infotainment Package, Bose Surround Sound System, clear taillights, and 19” Carrera Sport wheels. It was purchased by its last owner from Porsche of Colorado Springs in 2021 after undergoing a major 80k-mile CPO service and inspection. This 997.2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia with approximately 37k miles showing on the odometer.
This 997.2 is finished in Platinum Silver Metallic and can be identified as an “S” model from a standard Carrera by its red-painted brake calipers and quad exhaust outlets. Optional clear taillights came equipped from the factory along with 19” Carrera Sport wheels. Other equipment includes bi-xenon headlights, headlamp washers, an electric sunroof, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and an aftermarket red “S” emblem on the rear decklid. The seller indicates the full front end of the car was wrapped in clear paint protection film upon the last owner’s purchase along with a full exterior ceramic coating. The front bumper was previously refinished, and some light scratches are present on the roof and rear bumper. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor front-end damage in 2015.
Inside, this Carrera S features Black standard leather upholstery with a matching Alcantara headliner and optional 12-way power Comfort Seats. The optional Infotainment Package equips a BOSE Surround Sound System and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with extended navigation while the Comfort Package adds driver seat memory, heated front seats, and auto-dimming exterior mirrors. Other equipment includes a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, and Porsche-branded floor mats.
A direct fuel-injected 3.8-liter flat-six engine sends up to 385 HP and 310 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The car comes standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Stability Management (PSM), Automatic Brake Differential (ABD), and 13” cross-drilled brake rotors with fixed 4-piston calipers at each corner. A major 80k mile service was completed at Colorado Springs in 2021 including a thorough inspection, new spark plugs, ignition coils, engine oil, filters, an accessory drive belt, a PCM software update, a brake fluid flush, and four new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. The CARFAX report shows another inspection and oil service completed in January 2024.
This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “A very fine example of a 997.2. Super clean exterior and interior, absolutely no disappointments.”

Good afternoon to all in Pcar land , as we are in the final hour on the 997and I would like to thank everyone for the interest and question both here and through DM. I have been in the business for 39 years now and stand behind every car we present whether online or in person. We always bring exceptional Porsches to this platform with no stories or issues. This S is no different . I have spoken with several people regarding the few minor touchups that are there and will have them corrected before the next steward takes ownership by being the lucky winner of this auction. Again thank you and bid with confidence. Bill

@ridecooler this generation doesn’t have an IMS at all so all good!

80k service was performed by the dealer in order to offer the CPO warranty and even with the low mileage its more of a time frame service than miles. The IMS has not been changed since the issue was on earlier cars(996-997-thru 2005) that had a failure rate of 8%. This was primarily due to it being a single row bearing and owners not keeping up with oil services. The later cars have had a 1% failure rate since going to a dual row assembly. I have spoken with several Porsche technicians and they told me it shouldn’t be an issue with 997.2 cars like the one we are offering now. Thanks Bill
I have one of these exact cars
This is the BEST all around 911 EVER
created PERIOD!!!!
Hi
Why was an 80,000 mile service done on
a car with only 36,000 on it ??
DME uploaded to photos. Good clean report. Thanks Bill

@ridecooler Great info, thank you!
Actually the paint meter readings on the hood and front fenders are due to the PPF that is protecting the original paint underneath. NO other paint work on the car other than the bumper. Also the headlights are covered with PPF. I knew that would come up and I should’ve covered that in the description. Sorry for the omission. Thanks Bill
@ridecooler Thank you, Bill, for your prompt response, very much appreciated. Looking forward to the underside pics when the weather cooperates. With regards to the mentioned "bumper ding", the provided paint meter readings support a repaint of the hood. Wondering why the prior owner would respray the front end rather than just the bumper. I know it wasn't under your watch. Just curious. Thanks again.
Appreciate the compliment , we are still in a rain delay on moving the car into the other side of the shop for the underside pics. Friday looks like the day. The bumper ding happened before the purchase from Colorado so unfortunately no pics or further info on that . Thanks Bill
Greetings Seller. Lovely spec on this 997.2 Also interested in seeing the aforementioned underside pics, especially since the car spent time in snowy Colorado. Are there any pics of the prior front end minor damage from the prior owner? Would have been worth documenting. Thank you.
According to the Porsche description it allows sportier tuning of the drive and chassis in conjunction with PASM. Sport mode is activated by means of an additional Sport button in the center console and influences the accelerator characteristic,PSM as well as PASM and PDK depending on vehicle equipment. In combination with PCM the option also includes individual memory for light, wiper, air conditioning and door lock settings. Sorry for the delay in responding and hopefully this answers your question. Thanks Bill
can you elaborate on the sport mode upgrade? what does that entail?
Will add underside picture tomorrow as it’s raining here and I prefer not to move it in to shop from our storage. This car has never been out during inclement weather and our state hasn’t used salt in many years. Our average winter temperature is 40ish. Thanks Bill
Any photos of the underside? Do you have salt on the roads out there?
Appreciate your input and hope you get another 98k out of your”Hotrod”. Thanks Bill
Beautiful hot rod...my beloved '09 997.2 has 98k miles and the only issue has been with the high pressure fuel pump and the factory has authorized replacement with an upgraded part. When the original part began to fail, cold starting gradually became more difficult until the car threw a diagnostic light on the dash and it would only run in "LIMP" mode...still got me to the dealership. Good luck mit the auction.
The damage was done prior to the last owners purchase of the car but was reported to him to be minor and onlt the bumper was repainted. I do not have a DME on the car but will have my guys pull one and post it within the next day or so. Thanks Bill
Beautiful car. Can you provide any more details on the damage? Is that the reason the front bumper was refinished? Also, do you have a DME report?
Bid in the amount of $26,000
IMS issues persisted through 2008. Some years worse than others due to bearing design changes. The 997.2 generation that started in 2009 have a different engine, and no IMS issues.

I would like to add since I must have omitted from the listing that a sport mode upgrade was performed at the local dealership in 12-22. I have the receipt for that and an oil service
Good morning, the 80k service was performed by the dealer in order to offer the CPO warranty and even with the low mileage its more of a time frame service than miles. The IMS has not been changed since the issue was on earlier cars(996-997-thru 2005) that had a failure rate of 8%. @dale338 IMS is not issue on 997.2, only 996.x and 996.1
@dale338 services are based on age and not necessarily mileage. Also, IMS issues are not related to this model year.
Hi - Nice car! The notes state that the car had a major 80k mile service in 2021, but it only has 36k miles on it. Can you share why that was done and what was done? Also - was the IMS bearing upgraded at any point? Thanks!!
