The pinnacle of the 987 generation, the Cayman R offers enhanced driving dynamics with a special sport-tuned suspension, an exterior Aerokit package, and extensive weight-saving measures. With an original MSRP over $89k, this 2012 Porsche Cayman R is finished in Carrara White over a Black leather interior and is optioned with a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, heated Sports Seats, Sport Chrono Package Plus, BOSE Surround Sound System, automatic air-conditioning, PCM with Navigation, Sports Exhaust System, and painted black wheels. Benefitting from a recent annual service, this rare high-performance three-owner Cayman is now being offered for auction out of Louisiana with approximately 21k miles on the odometer.
The Cayman R features lightweight aluminum door panels, Aerokit front splitters, and a fixed carbon fiber rear wing as well as gloss-black painted mirrors, black-framed headlights, PORSCHE stripe decals, and lightweight forged 19” Boxster Spyder wheels. This example comes finished in Carrara White and the optional black painted wheels come dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. This Cayman R also features aftermarket Fabspeed carbon fiber exhaust tips. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the Cayman R features RS-style door panels with lightweight red pull straps and red seatbelts along with exterior color-matched trim pieces, a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel, and a hoodless instrument cluster. This example came with optional heated Sport Seats, automatic air conditioning, Bi-Xenon cornering headlights, PCM 3 with Navigation, a Bluetooth receiver, Universal Audio Interface, Voice Control, the BOSE Surround Sound System, Aluminum II Handbrake lever, Sports Look Footrest, Rear ParkAssist, XM Satellite Radio, floor mats, automatically dimming mirrors, and Sport Chrono Package Plus which adds a lap timer stopwatch to the center dashboard. New wipers were recently installed. All gauges and accessories are reported to be functioning properly.
A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 330 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 7-speed PDK transmission. The optional Sport Chrono Package Plus enables the Cayman R to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in less than 5 seconds while reaching a top speed of over 170 MPH. The chassis includes a passive sports suspension lowered by 20mm compared to a standard Cayman S. Mechanical upgrades include Fabspeed headers, GT3 throttle body, IPD Plenum, and FVD Brombacher ECU tune. The seller indicates that a recent annual maintenance was performed which included an oil change, a cabin filter change, an engine air filter cleaning, and a brake fluid flush.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, the window sticker, and an FVD accessport with stock tune on it.

A couple of reasons why this Cayman R is so appealing in the driving video:
1. Porsche tweaked the PDK software in the R to be more performance oriented than Base or S Cayman. (Which the Boxster Spyder PDK surprisingly didn't get.) AFAIK, there is no way to get this factory tuning except to buy an R.
2. The Fabspeed headers, GT3 throttle body, IPD Plenum, and FVD Brombacher ECU tune are a real improvement to this drive train. Well known parts known to work well together. The engine is going to breath significantly better.
These are REALLY nice upgrades above a plain Cayman S.

@xpensivewino thanks for the kind words, and yes this one was done right!! The tune can be swapped back to stock at any time with the FVD accessport that will be supplied with the car, very easy whichever way you go...
No track time at all!! no, and brakes measure 9mm in the front and 8mm in the rear, nice and thick! Rotors are perfect as well, see the gallery!
