The original high-performance Cayman model, the 987.2 generation Porsche Cayman R features a special weight-saving design, sport-tuned suspension, an exterior Aerokit, lightweight 19” Boxster Spyder wheels, and a 330-horsepower 3.4-liter flat-six engine. This 2012 Canadian-market example is finished in Platinum Silver Metallic over a Black leather and Alcantara interior. It comes equipped with a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, rare carbon fiber sport bucket seats, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Sport Exhaust System, bi-xenon cornering headlights, an Alcantara SportDesign steering wheel, BOSE Surround Sound System, automatic climate control, auto-dimming mirrors, and black-painted wheels. Having been cared for by its second owner since 2016, this Cayman R was recently serviced by the selling dealer and is now being offered for auction with approximately 35k kilometers or 22k miles showing on the odometer.
Compared to a standard 987.2 Cayman, the R model features lightweight aluminum door panels, Aerokit front splitters, a fixed carbon fiber rear wing, gloss-black painted mirrors, black-framed headlights, PORSCHE stripe decals, and lightweight forged 19” Boxster Spyder wheels. This example is finished in Platinum Silver Metallic with optional cornering bi-xenon headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, black-painted wheels, and an aluminum-finished fuel cap. The front bumper is preserved under clear paint protection film along with the forward half of the hood and fenders. The seller notes the “H” on the driver’s side door decal is faded and a new replacement decal will be provided to the next owner. The seller also indicates light scrape marks on the lower front splitters and a few stone chips on the upper portion of the hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Appointed with Black leather and Alcantara upholstery, the cabin features carbon fiber sport bucket seats complemented by Guards Red seatbelts, cloth RS-style door pull straps, and body-colored trim. Other accessories include an Alcantara-wrapped SportDesign steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, auto-dimming mirrors, a universal audio interface, a Bluetooth receiver, BOSE Surround Sound System, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation. Slight wear is noted on the driver’s seat bolster and Alcantara steering wheel.
Rated at 330 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The Cayman R comes standard with a 20mm-lowered sport suspension and this example is optioned with the Sport Exhaust System and Sport Chrono Package Plus. The car has been regularly maintained by Pfaff Porsche and recently underwent a PDK fluid change at Porsche Lauzon. The selling dealer also performed a recent major service with new spark plugs.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a window sticker, tools, an air compressor, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Rare opportunity to acquire a very low miles collector grade high spec Cayman R equipped with the factory Carbon Fiber Sport Bucket Seats.”

@kevcam4 tire thread dept is healthy but tires are from 2013. They were not replaced.
The report notes the tires are very old, has this been remedied?
@co_993 We purchased the car 21 days ago. It may show as private on the US Carfax but we are a dealer. We purchased the car from the 2nd owner who had it since 2016.
The carfax shows you as a private owner for 21 days, but the pictures look like they came from a dealer website. Can you clarify?
Bid in the amount of $12,600
I have one in Guards Red. Looks fantastic in silver, too. Unsolicited and Free Advice (you get what you paid for): Get one (or more) of these while they're still reasonable. The car is seemingly telepathic on the road. Almost analog compared to today's cars----they're more like driving a computer or playing a video game. Mine has three pedals but there are advantages to the auto. I think the next Caymans are going to be electric; just another feather in the cap of a 2012 R. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and had only a clutch slave cylinder and the speakers replaced (both under CPO warranty.). Oh, one other important thing: no IMS bearing to worry about. GL to bidders and seller.
The carbon fiber bucket seats sell for about the current total bid. 😃
GLWTA!
@91724H 3% duty plus shipping which is about 2k enclosed.
how much would cost to bring the R to Florida?
