Up for auction is this 2012 Porsche 987.2 Cayman R finished in Peridot Metallic over a black leather and Alcantara interior. Designed for the driving purist, the Cayman R was offered as a lightweight performance-oriented sports car and came standard with an Aerokit Package, GT3-derived aluminum doors, carbon bucket seats, sports suspension, and unique exterior styling. This 2012 example was custom ordered through Garber Porsche of New York with a PDK transmission, Sound Package Plus, automatic A/C, the Sport Chrono Package, and black-painted wheels. Having spent its life carefully looked after by its original owner while accumulating just over 2k miles, this Cayman R has recently undergone a full service in preparation for sale and is now being offered for auction by an authorized Porsche dealer out of New York.
This 987.2 was ordered in Peridot Metallic, the eye-catching debut color for the Cayman R. Unique factory features include Aerokit front and rear spoilers, black Porsche side graphics, gloss-black air intakes, gloss-black painted mirrors, and a gloss-black rear model designation. Clear European-style side marker lenses have been installed and the original amber lenses will accompany the sale. The seller notes that the car has been kept in climate-controlled storage from new, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The factory black-painted 19” lightweight Boxster Spyder wheels will be dressed in a set of new tires prior to sale, and the original tires will also be included.
Inside, this Cayman R sports a black leather and Alcantara interior with Peridot Metallic painted trim and GT2-derived lightweight bucket seats with carbon fiber backings and red seatbelts. As part of its minimalist design, the Cayman R features basic cloth door pull straps and an instrument cover delete. Optional equipment includes Sound Package Plus with storage, automatic A/C, the CDR-30 audio system, a Bluetooth receiver, Universal Audio Interface, a Sports Look footrest, and a storage bin lid with Porsche crest. An aftermarket clear Lexan engine cover has been installed and the original insulated aluminum engine cover and carpeting will accompany the sale.
This 987.2 carries a mid-mounted 3.4 L flat-six engine borrowed from the Cayman S. Incorporating a Sports Exhaust System and revised tuning, this engine produces up to 330 HP which is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, this Cayman R is capable of accelerating from 0-60 MPH in under 4.5 seconds. The Cayman R also sits lower than a standard Cayman S with its passive sports suspension while saving over 120 lbs. of weight. A full service is being carried out by the selling Porsche dealer including all new fluids, filters, and spark plugs.
This sale will include a clean title. The seller adds that the car has been fully serviced and reconditioned to Porsche Certified Pre-Owned standards and that a CPO status can be added to the car at an additional cost. One of the purest, driver-focused modern Porsches on the road, this rare and beautifully preserved Cayman R makes a fine addition to any car collection.

Absolutely beautiful Cayman R. I just sold mine, very similar build sheet and color, but with a manual transmission. It may be one of the best driving Porsches I have ever owned. @GarberPAM, I hope you don't mind me for asking or mentioning the following; you added a great walk around video that helps showing the true color and all the beautiful lines & curves around the car and started the engine and it sounds great, but may be forgot (?) reve the engine a little so, since there's no drive by videos, the Bidders can hear the actual engine acceleration !
Also wondering if it's possible to have some pictures of the bottom of the car with the inside the wheels, suspension and the engine, etc. And last, but not least, guessing that the car comes with 2 keys ??

A) The owner ran at one PCA drivers Education event in the Green group. This car has never been abused. The over rev report included in the listing shows ZERO overrevs ever in any range and the original tires that are included with the sale still have between 6/32 and 8/32 of tread with no unusual wear.
B) The original engine cover and carpeting are included with the sale and can be installed before pick up if preferred.

Thanks for the answer on the new tires ! I'm a long term PCA member and I'Ve noticed the PCA Logo on the beautifully done "glass engine lid" that shows the owner of the car the car's also a Porsche club of America member, as well ! So, I have 2 entirely different questions; A) has the owner ever tracked this car ? B) are the original engine cover and covering saved ?

@Efariab @Efariab, the Cayman R just got 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport N spec tires. They had not arrived before the pictures were taken. If the winning bidder wants, we have saved the original tires.

In the description of the car, it says the tires will be replaced with the sale and I'm wondering if the buyer will have the choice of specific brand and type of the new tires that will go with the car ?
@Das240 @Das240, The vehicle was towed in because the owner couldn't get it to start. A new battery was the only thing needed to solve the problem.
It states on the CarFar the car was towed in for mechanical issues, what was the mechanical problem?
Thanks to everyone for the interest in this spectacular 1 owner, clean CARFAX Cayman R. The pictures do not do this color justice and I don't think you can find one nicer anywhere. For those interested in this car.
This is truly a drivers car and by far one of the most enjoyable Porsche's you can own. I recently did two 400 mile trip in my Cayman R and enjoyed every minute of the drive including the 32 mpg on the highway.
I have tracked mine and it truly makes you look better then you are. People are amazed at how well the car handles and how easy it is to drive. I have let a few experienced drivers drive my car and they are also amazed at how well it handles. Timing is also good right now as people have started collecting these due to the low production numbers.
