Inspired by the classic FJ40, the FJ Cruiser was launched in North America for the 2007 model year and was sold until 2014. Equipped as standard with a part-time four-wheel-drive system and a two-speed transfer case, this 2012 example comes finished in Quicksand over a Dark Charcoal interior. Showing approximately 35k miles on the odometer, this FJ Cruiser is now being offered for auction at no reserve out of Colorado by its long-term owner of 9 years.

The retro-inspired FJ Cruiser features a grille-headlight arrangement and "Toyota" spelled out across the front as a nod to its predecessor. Finished in Quicksand, this example has been outfitted with TRD badging and 16” 6-spoke alloy wheels with TRD-branded center caps and new Cooper Discover ATP tires mounted in September 2023. The seller notes a few small door dings. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is trimmed in washable synthetic materials and Dark Charcoal water-resistant cloth contrasted with tan finished accents along the dashboard and a tan headliner. Standard equipment includes power windows, analog instrumentation, a three-spoke steering wheel, and pillar-mounted grab handles. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

The 4.0-liter DOHC V6 features variable valve timing and an output of up to 260 HP and 271 lb.-ft of torque. The part-time four-wheel-drive system is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, two-speed transfer case, and rear locking differential. Standard performance equipment includes high-mounted double-wishbone front and four-link rear independent suspensions, front & rear stabilizer bars, and power four-wheel disc brakes. The seller adds that routine oil changes have been kept up to date and a 30k-mile service was recently completed. The CARFAX report shows a total of 9 service history entries.

The seller would like you to know: “The car is completely stock, with very low miles, just had a full service done and brand new tires. It is in excellent condition and drives like new.  No accidents or track days.”

@nobrakes Yes, there is a 2014 FJ on Autotrader for 70K. It is a classic and iconic car, the Toyota FJ.

  • nobrakes (registered bidder) 5 monthsago

no even the tonka toys are getting 911 bids?

This car is in excellent condition with new tires, new 30K service, new oil change, no rust, always garaged and very low mileage. It has lower mileage than a 2012 FJ on Autotrader going for $42,500.00. Because of health reasons I have to part with this car. It is in almost concourse condition. The new owner will not be disappointed.

@sfmonster23 I am 6 foot tall and have never seen blind spots. Just saying.

  • sfmonster23 (registered bidder) 5 monthsago

We just got our daughter one of these, and it definitely has blind spots. It is manageable and shouldn't impact the buying decision. At least it didn't for us. These are great vehicles - functional, solid, stylish and fun to drive. The last thing I need is another car, but if the bids stay this low, I might have to buy this one for me. GLWTA!

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

I have never noticed blind spots while driving. The outside mirrors are very large. No, I think your wrong about that.

  • macanmecrazy (registered bidder) 5 monthsago

@Spin this car is known for blind spots so you’ll want to invest in some extra mirrors for a new driver

@cali66 The part in the description about recovering seats is not correct. The seats were not recovered. They were covered with car seat covers for 9 years. This mentioning of recovering seats is inaccurate. I have not recovered any seats or upholstery in this car. The upholstery is entirely original (and well maintained).

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@cali66 Also, no new parts were used. All the seats, etc are original to the car.

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@cali66 We had seat covers on the front seats for entire time we owned the car. We recently removed them and we were surprised to see how new the front seats look. We had a steering wheel cover on too and the steering wheel looks like new also. The back seats were hardly ever used (we don't have children) and they look like new too. The device under the dash was in the car when we bought it 9 years ago. I think it was to do with the tow package in the FJ. I think it is a brake adjustment for the trailer. We never pulled a trailer, so I have never used the system.

  • cali66 (registered bidder) 5 monthsago

What is the device mounted under the dash in the footwell area?

With the recover of seats and steering wheel, what necessitated that and were OE parts used to recover?

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@M491 i just added photos of thise two bolts that look like they had rust on them. I cleaned them off. Turns out it was just mud.

@M491 I crawled underneath the car this morning and cleaned off the bolts. They were just covered with mud and dirt and grime. Look at the new uploaded photos please. I took a closer photo of the bolt.

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@xxstang67 I did crawl under the car at the car wash and cleaned the dirt off. There are still some dirty ateas I missed. I will crawl under the car today and do some more cleaning. I noticed some bolts are still dirty from mud that got under the car last summer.

A few pics around the front wheel spindles and rear hubs would be great! Also, has the undercarriage ever been painted over?

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@M491 I haven’t been completely under the car myself. I just had a complete service done by the Toyota dealership and there was no mention of this. Which bolt heads are you talking about? Thx

  • M491 5 monthsago

You skirted the question regarding corrosion on bolt heads etc.
Can you emphatically state there is is no visible corrosion anywhere in the undercarriage?

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@LKD-ISOm3 I regularly take it to the neighborhood car wash, especially during the winter time. I don’t like driving it when it’s dirty.

Did you get a car wash semi regularly in the winter to get the mag fluoride off? Thankfully it’s nowhere as bad as salt. Thanks

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@M491 I do have undercarriage photos included. Please see photos at the end. Unfortunately I don’t have access to a lift to get better photos. (The car has been parked in a garage for 9 years of ownership and in Colorado, a dry environment.)

  • M491 5 monthsago

No good pictures of undercarriage and the presence of corrosion. Are the bolt heads rusted and any other corrosion susceptible undercarriage members?

  • davelawrence (seller) 5 monthsago

@Spin It has a back up camera. But no lane assist and just the one backup camera.

  • Spin 5 monthsago

Looks very nice. I am interested in this vehicle for a newer / younger driver. Does the vehicle have lane assist, parking sensors, camera etc that might make it a bit easier to drive? I realize it is a 2012, probably just a few years before those features became a standard option on most vehcles. Thanks for the info.
