The BMW E70 X5 is a luxury sport utility vehicle that offers an ideal balance of style, performance, and versatility. Powered by a robust twin-turbocharged V8 engine, this 2013 X5 xDrive50i comes finished in Platinum Grey Metallic over a Black Nevada leather interior. Previously cared for in Illinois and Colorado, this example is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of Virginia while showing approximately 101k miles on the odometer.

Finished in Platinum Grey Metallic, this X5 was factory optioned with the Sports Package which adds High Gloss Shadowline exterior trim. Other equipment includes Adaptive Xenon headlights, fog lights, black-finished roof rails, dual integrated exhaust outlets, and mud flaps. A set of upgraded 19” BMW Style 467 wheels have been mounted with Michelin Latitude Tour HP tires from 2017. The seller notes a minor indentation on the driver’s side door along with faint signs of overspray. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Black Nevada leather upholstery contrasted with Dark Bamboo Grain fine wood trim. The optional Sports Package adds Sport seats, a Sport leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and an Anthracite headliner. Amenities include soft-close doors, a power liftgate, a panoramic glass sunroof, front seat lumbar support, front and rear seat heating, and 4-zone automatic climate control. Additional features include cruise control, the Light Package, Bluetooth connectivity, Park Distance Control, and rearview & top-view cameras. The seller notes the engine light illuminates, prompting a valve stem seal repair.

Beneath the hood lies a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine generating as much as 400 HP and 450 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Stopping power is provided by 4-wheel disc brakes and an anti-lock braking system. The seller adds that the ignition coils, spark plugs, and fuel injectors have been repalced.

This sale will include a clean title, two keys, owner's manuals, and sales literature.

The seller would like you to know: “I hate to let it go, but the bottom line facts are, this vehicle has an array of sport and luxury driving capabilities. The vehicle is diverse and is equipped with over 40k in parts alone. Whichever way you intend to use or gain from this vehicle you will come out on top.”

@mayart Good afternoon myarrt. I am happy that worked out for you with that repair being completed for you was it a certified BMW dealership that conducted your repair. I have to strongly disagree with you on your price suggestion stating that after repair the vehicle would only be worth somewhere at 8k. As a reminder the X5 50.i model has the V8 engine not the V6 engine. If you do your research you will see it is selling for on the average on all sells across the intenet for this particular model is 13,500 that is just the low average. With most of them selling for 15k plus. That is just a fact. Hope this helps.

I currently own a 2011 X5 that I purchased used 3 years ago. I also noticed the blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe after my purchase. After some investigations I found out that the dealer would do the free repair only because my car had around 60k miles. I had the stem seals repair done for free at the dealer and the smoke stopped. It's a costly job probably 5k to 6k I believe. I still have a couple of oil leaks but that's another story. I am in southern California and my car is probably worth no more than 8k after the stem seals repair. The seller's statement about the parts being worth 40k maybe correct only if you are a dismantling yard and know how to take it apart and sell it retail.

@Kstern14 Well said Kstern14, as I said in the comments before the vehicle is worth 40k in parts alone.

@AtLast Good morning. When I purchased the vehicle BMW was umder a lawsuit. BMW LOST and was to make the valve repair when I recieved this information I had all ready had several maintenance repairs maid to the vehicle related to the valve stem repair BMW fixed everything but that. I asked BMW to make the repair that they were suppose to do in the first place. But said the previous owner prior to me turned the repair down and opted to trade in the vehicle instead. Meaning repair was only granted the orinal owner and not to the vehicle as would a recall do.This was frustrating to me and I did not think it was fair after all the money I had already spent in purchasing the latest parts for the engine. So I decided to purchase another X5 50i with F15 the up dated engine and get all the bells and whistles. Yes the vehicle is worth 40k in parts alone being sold individually.
With the repair done it's worth 19k to 25k at drop dead minimum with out the repair being done it is worth 8k depending on which coast you live on using the supply and demand concept. Keep in mind again the vehicles parts being sold individually are worth 40k.

Valve seal is not simple. Super tedious to fix. Hours of labor but doable

  • AtLast (registered bidder) 9 months, 2 weeksago

Please clarify - is it your suggestion that the X5 is worth $40k if parted out, or has $40k in parts been added to it? Also, if the valve seal is so simple, why did you not do it, or was it done before and needs repeating?

@aky No problem aky if you go to Carid.com you will see all the value of each part and what they are worth for this perticular vehicle yrar and model. Hope that helps.

  • aky (registered bidder) 9 months, 2 weeksago

I am so sorry but I may be misunderstanding and forgive me if I am. The listing above says: "The seller notes the engine light illuminates, prompting a valve stem seal repair." So the repair was NOT done and needs to be done which is why the smoke? And if you have invoices for the 40k in parts as mentioned that would be most helpful.

  • BMW318i (seller) 9 months, 2 weeksago

@aky To clarify my answer AKY as I mentioned in my previous statement. The light blue smoke is oil burning because it need a valve stem adjustment. Pleade let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you.

  • aky (registered bidder) 9 months, 2 weeksago

Can you share with us the invoices for the 40k in parts? And does the engine light still illuminate? When was the valve stem seal repair and can you provide the invoice?

  • BMW318i (seller) 9 months, 2 weeksago

@aky Thank you for your repl. Yes this is the oil seeping past the vale seals once adjustment is made the smoke goes away. The engine is solid. Keep in mind there are 40k in parts alone on this vehicle easily. Same year vehicle at dealership going for 25k with 18k more miles. They are definitely taking advantage.

The engine start up seems a little rough and is that white, black or gray smoke coming from the exhaust pipes on drive video as it drives away?

@BMW318i I agree with all of your comments about how this beauty drives and handles. Definitely confidence-inspiring. If only I had more room in my garage. The winner of your auction will love it as we both do. Good luck.

  • BMW318i (seller) 9 months, 2 weeksago

@Airliner1 That awesome. I have enjoyed the vehicle tremendously. My most favorite things about the X5 is the incredible handling and excelerating power. Its wide and gives you complete confidence when cornering. It could be your backup surplus vehicle LOL. Thank you for your kind reply. Best regards.

  • Airliner1 (registered bidder) 9 months, 2 weeksago

Damn handsome X5. IMO, the best-looking of any of the X5 iterations, the most recent model included. I own a 2013 X5 myself and love it for so many reasons. GLWTA!
