This 2013 Porsche 981 Boxster S has been modified with exterior parts borrowed from the Boxster GTS and the Cayman GT4 to enhance its sporty appearance. Finished in Platinum Silver Metallic over a Black interior, this Boxster S features the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, Premium Package, Infotainment Package with BOSE Surround Sound System, and 20” Carrera S wheels. This Boxster S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing just under 90k miles.

Finished in Platinum Silver Metallic, this 981 has been fitted with a front fascia and valence from the GTS model, as well as side air scoops, a rear valence, and a rear diffuser from the GT4 for a more aggressive appearance. The seller states that these enhancements were made under previous ownership using Porsche OEM parts. Factory options include Bi-Xenon headlights, a supplemental safety roll bar in exterior color, and 20” Carrera S wheels with colored Porsche crests and Falken tires from 2021. Additionally, retro Porsche Pegasus decals have been added to both fenders, and one headlight assembly was reportedly replaced due to a rock chip. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing some damages.

Inside, this Boxster S features black partial leather upholstery and includes the Premium Package which adds a rain sensor, auto-dimming mirrors, a wind deflector, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated 14-way power-adjustable Sports Seats. The Infotainment Package is also equipped, including the BOSE Surround Sound System and navigation for the 7" touchscreen Porsche Communication Management (PCM) unit. Porsche crests have been embossed on the headrests and the seller notes there is slight warping on the top edge of the passenger door.

The 981 Boxster S is powered by a 3.4-liter flat-six sending as much as 315 HP and 266 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. The seller notes that regular oil changes were performed using Porsche-recommended products and the brakes have been serviced although the rear pads will need to be replaced in approximately 7k miles. Other recent maintenance is said to include servicing the steering components and CV boots, a wheel alignment, replacing the blower motor resistor, and installing a new AGM battery. A professional inspection is said to have been completed at a Porsche service shop in January of 2023.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, a car cover, sales literature, some additional documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “The 981 Generation Boxsters and Caymans are considered by many to be the best for their reliability and major enhancements over previous generations, and the last to use the iconic Porsche 6-Cylinder boxer platform. This beautiful and unique 981S gives you the performance of the S model, but with its GTS / GT4 body enhancements, the look of a six-figure model. The S Model's 3.4L is a phenomenal engine and the PDK delivers super fast and smooth shifts. This car is always a blast to drive, and you would be hard-pressed to get a better-looking and driving Porsche for less.”

@Toys1955 - the white lights are the third brake light when the spoiler is up since you can't see the red ones from behind.

@Otterscott No Sir. I do not believe that was a factory option.

Very thorough listing. Forgive me if I missed this but does it have a backup camera?

@Toys1955 Not sure what lights you refer to; maybe just appears that way in the photo? only has center reverse light up top and center.

  • Toys1955 (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Thanks for the answers. What are the white lights in the center of the rear bumper? They are not on when the other rear lights are. Do they work? Thank you

@Toys1955 P.S., I have actually owned it since January, so about 11 months.

  • HarveyRanch (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@Toys1955 I was asked this by another user as well; So I have always loved Porsche and have owned many in my life, mostly vintage models such as 356 ‘s, 912, 914, and early 911, but never a “modern” Porsche. Last fall I had sold another vintage auto and decided to look for a modern Porsche. I came across the opportunity and indulged myself. Unfortunately recent life and business changes for me have taken all my focus and I have decided to part with some non-essentials in my life. The car unfortunately now sits in my garage more than I get to enjoy it, so I felt it was time to move on. I do have to say that this 981 has been one of the funnest cars I have ever owned and driven for sure. Thanks for your questions.

  • Toys1955 (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Hello again, I see you’ve only owned it for 5 months and about 1,000 miles. Why selling so soon ?

  • HarveyRanch (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@kyjef I added a few pics I already had that may be helpful and also another video showing more of the top.

  • HarveyRanch (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

    In response to questions, I have added a video I had walking around the car with the top up, showing more of the top and any wear, etc.; Also added photos of the front end taken under both sunlight and garage lights showing paint matching of front end to body, as well as hood fitment and proper gaps, etc.;

To address any question I have been getting, the car has never been tracked, driven on any course, or such things. Although I do indulge in the capability of the car from time to time, I never over-rev or push it too hard.

  • HarveyRanch (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@kyjef To address some of your questions:
Yes, there was paint work to match the body upgrades and facelift.
The hood closes flat, gaps look correct, etc., no issues. It may just be the photos making it look otherwise.
The top is in great shape, no tears or such, only just typical wear at the “folds” which you can see some in the photos/ video.
I responded to othet inquiry about any track use; the car has NEVER been tracked. I will post this again in the open comments.
As for ownership, yes I have only owned since January. I have owned many Porsches, mostly 356, 912, 914, and early 911; But never a more “modern” Porsche. So owning one was something I wanted to do. Unfortunately due to some life changes with family and business, and have decided to part with a few non-essentials. It has been fun to own and drive but just not a good fit for my life anymore.
I will try to post some pics when I get back in a few days of the top and hood fitment. Most likely Tuesday unfortunately.

  • kyjef (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Hi HarveyRanch. Could you address the earlier question about track use please? Also, could you post a video of the top operation, and more pics of the top. I live where I need it! Pics 2, 11, 13, and 28 suggest that the hood doesn't close flat (compare the right to left). Is this due to fender fitment or did the front bracing suffer in one of the accidents? The carfax suggests that 3 of the 4 corners of the car had damage and perhaps paint work (?). Are there any color differences? If there was no paint work, meter readings would be beneficial. If there was paint work, I think a collection of non-stylized, properly lit, indoor pics would be valuable to show condition. You've only owned it for a short time... care to comment on why? It's usually helpful in buyers' minds. I am a hopeful bidder. Thank you.

    A few maintenance notes:
New tires were installed in 21’ but only have about 6,000 miles on them so far. All the brakes, pads, rotors, sensors, and other brake related items that are recommended by Porsche have been done TWICE. At a mechanical inspection performed this past January, the rear pads look to have about 7k miles left on them (under typical driving). The current oil change has about 3k miles so far.

  • HarveyRanch (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

Just a note: The listing says “supplemental safety roll bar in exterior color…” This does not mean an aftermarket roll bar has been added, it refers to the factory head rest/ roll bars being painted to match the body color. This was a factory additional option as noted on original window sticker. (see photo)

@Toys1955 I have added a photo of the door panel.

  • HarveyRanch (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@dangramm Thanks for the question; I was told the incident was solo driving in bad weather and was not significant enough to deploy airbags. This was the catalyst for the GTS upgrades and facelift you see which used OEM Porsche parts and at a significant extra cost.

  • dangramm (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Just saw the crash history on the Carfax. What can you tell us about the crash and repairs from 12/24? Looks not insignificant.

  • dangramm (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

90K mile FrankenPorsche. Not for the purist but I kind of dig it.
I am also curious about the tracking history.

  • Toys1955 (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

I assume there is only one key? Was the car tracked? Any idea on why the door is warped?
    Thanks and good luck …..
