Up for auction is this 2014 Porsche 981 Cayman S finished in Rhodium Silver Metallic over a black interior. Featuring a mid-mounted flat-six engine paired with a desirable 6-speed manual transmission, this 2014 example also comes equipped with optional 20” Carrera S wheels, a heated multifunction steering wheel, and the Convenience Package. This 981 was purchased by the second and current owner as a Porsche Certified Pre-Owned vehicle in December of 2016 and is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey with just over 26k miles showing on the odometer.
This Cayman S is finished in Rhodium Silver Metallic. The second generation of Porsche’s Cayman, the 981 differs from its predecessor with a wider track, extended wheelbase, and new bodywork influenced by the Porsche 991 generation. This example is said to have always been garage kept and covered during the current ownership with clear paint protection film applied over the front end as well as a ceramic coating on the wheels. The seller notes a rock chip above the passenger rear wheel, additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This Cayman S rides on optional 20” Carrera S wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. The front tires were mounted on the car at the time of the seller’s purchase in 2016, and both rear tires are said to bear less than 4k miles of use.
Inside, you will find a black interior with a heated multifunction steering wheel and the Convenience Package which adds dual-zone automatic climate control and heated seats. The cabin is described as being in excellent condition with all accessories and electronics working properly.
The mid-mounted 3.4L flat-six engine produces up to 325 HP, which is fed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Using this drivetrain, the Cayman S can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds. Routine maintenance is said to have been performed on an annual basis including a recent 25k-mile recommended service with new spark plugs, oil, and filters.

I've got a 981 base with PDK and I love it. I'm always happy when I drive it. It spends the winters in SE Florida and a manual was not an option for this congested area. They look like a real Porsche, not the bloated 911s of today!

I have a 2015 981 S 6 speed. Curious to see where this one goes. These cars are a blast to drive. Perfect for the street. I really feel Porsche nailed the 981 model. Probably why they had to go to the 718 because it was too good. I put Michelin pS4s on mine and wished I dumped the Pzeros a lot sooner. They really take the car to the next level. @rhmoritz I don't have a good answer to your question about getting the chip repaired correctly before the car went up for auction. At this point the auction is ending in 2 days. If the car doesn't sell I may look into your suggestion and reach out to RSR in Wycoff. Thanks for recommendation.
Really unfortunate about that "chip". Why not get a repair estimate, and approach your neighbor about splitting the costs? RSR in Wyckoff does fantastic work.

@doolin64 My neighbor's lawn mower kicked a pebble into the side of the car. It made a dent that was smaller than my smallest finger nail. My mechanic recommended against having it filled and repainted and offer to put touch up paint on it. I took his advice, which is what you see in the pictures. So the answer to your questions is no, I didn't get a estimate from an autobody shop.
Did you ever get an estimate to repair the rock chip? Is it just a chip with missing paint or is there a dent?
