The second-generation SVT (S-197II) Shelby Cobra GT500 was introduced at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show as the most powerful Mustang ever featuring a supercharged 5.8L “Trinity” V8 engine producing over 660 HP. In 2013, the model was updated with new styling, twin fuel pumps, larger fuel injectors, larger Brembo front brakes, retuned springs, an improved cooling system, and a reinforced Tremec 6-speed manual transmission with a single-piece carbon fiber driveshaft. This 2014 example is a GT500 Convertible finished in Sterling Gray Metallic over a Charcoal Black leather interior. It came from the factory with the optional Electronics Package, Shaker Pro audio system, and over-the-top racing stripes. Having been maintained by a single owner in Northern California since new, this GT500 is now being offered for auction with just over 13k miles on the odometer.
The 2013 model year update included new front-end styling for the GT500 as well as standard HID headlamps, new LED taillights, and the absence of a front grille to improve cooling. This 2014 example is finished in Sterling Gray Metallic with a black cloth convertible roof and over-the-top racing stripes. Other features include an aluminum air-extractor hood, GT500 rocker stripes, Cobra fender badges, a body-colored rear spoiler, quad stainless-steel exhaust outlets, and 19”x20” forged aluminum wheels. The seller describes the car’s exterior to be in very good overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, this GT500 features a Charcoal Black interior including leather sport bucket seats with racing stripe inserts. Accessories include air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, the Electronics Package with navigation, a 4.2” LCD display, and the Shaker Pro audio system. All accessories and electronics are said to be fully functional.
This Mustang is equipped with a supercharged and intercooled 5.8L DOHC “Trinity” V8 that produces up to 662 HP and 632 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission with an internal oil pump and a single-piece carbon-fiber driveshaft. Performance features include an SVT-tuned suspension, an electronic launch control function, and vented Brembo disc brakes with 6-piston front calipers. The CARFAX report shows maintenance history at Ford dealerships up until 2020 as well as a passed California emissions inspection in September 2023.
