Available for auction is this 2015 Porsche 981 Boxster GTS finished in Jet Black Metallic over a Garnet Red Natural Leather interior. Featuring a naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 330 HP, the range-topping GTS model comes equipped as standard with a two-mode sport exhaust, the Sport Chrono Package, and more aggressive styling. This example was acquired by the seller in December of last year, and has since covered approximately 300 miles. It comes equipped with 20” 911 Turbo Design wheels, Adaptive Sport Seats, Power Steering Plus, Sport Suspension and more. This well maintained and nicely equipped Boxster GTS is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Colorado, while showing approximately 33k miles on the odometer.

The GTS also comes standard with model specific front and rear bumpers, black headlight surrounds, and “GTS” designations on each door. This example is finished in Jet Black Metallic with a power retractable soft-top in red. The seller notes that the few minor imperfections include light scratches to the clear coat, scratches underneath the front bumper, and some shallow road rash on the front passenger wheel. Additionally the front bumper was refinished in 2020 to address stone chips, and detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX. Features include front and rear ParkAssist, the Headlight Cleaning System Covers finished in Jet Black Metallic, and a set of premium 20” 911 Turbo Design wheels in black with colored Porsche Crests. The wheels come dressed in a set of Nitto NT555 tires bearing date codes from 2019.

The Garnet Red Natural Leather interior features the deletion of standard GTS Alcantara in favor of full smooth leather, a leather wrapped SportDesign steering wheel, keyless entry and drive, extended leather option, and adaptive heated and cooled sport seats with Porsche crest headrests. The cabin is said to remain in fantastic overall condition, with the back of the driver’s seat showing minor rub marks. Amenities include painted center console trim, the Infotainment Package with Bose Surround Sound system, the Sport Chrono Clock in Guards Red, and the roll bars painted in Jet Black Metallic.

The GTS’s 3.4L flat-six engine produces as much as 330 HP, an increase of 15 HP over the standard Boxster S. Equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission and Sport Chrono Package, this 981 can reach 60 MPH from a standstill in approximately 4 seconds. A two-mode sport exhaust system comes standard, while Power Steering Plus and Sport Suspension (X73) were added as optional features. The CARFAX includes service history dating back to 2014, and most recently an oil and filter service was carried out in December 2021. The seller notes that the keyfob battery is due for replacement, and that an interim maintenance reminder appears as it was not reset during its last service.

This sale will include one key, owner's manuals, and a clean title. Nicely maintained and handsomely equipped, this 981 Boxster GTS is ready for a new home

Congrats @Boogers you got this for a killer price! The local Porsche dealer offered me 55k to buy it out so they were probably going to price it between 65-70k. I will email you by the end of the day.

Thanks for the interest and bids everyone!

It's now out of my current range, but it's good to see this thing move closer to where it should be. I'd be all over this if I had one of my other cars sold already. I love this thing, but I'm not going to lose my marriage over it!

I just have to respond to your comment about this car not being capable of driving in the “impound your car” category. Are you kidding?
I find that pretty much any cop is going to lose his or her sense of humor when they spot a car at over 100 mph. This thing will get there in a heartbeat.
I routinely drive two of my four cars at well into triple digit speeds on isolated portions of roads and would have lost them and my driver’s license long ago were it not for my relationship with one Mr. Valentine.
Thank Dog that pretty much all Porsches have outstanding brakes.

  • SAABO (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

    @Rneill Thanks much.

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@SAABO it’s a rubber cover underneath the front passenger corner of the car. It’s curled down a bit in the front and most likely needs re attached but I’m not really sure how it’s supposed to attach as I can’t get under it far enough to know how it’s supposed to be. Maybe someone else watching knows more about that part?

In case anyone isn’t aware. The replacement batteries for the key fob can be found on Amazon and cost about $6.60 for a two pack. There’s no need to go to a dealership to replace it.

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

If the video of the top operating isn’t working you can click the word YouTube in the bottom right. That will open it in YouTube where it will actually play.

    Good luck everyone!

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Also missed the part about the steering wheel being straight (I just woke up..) Yes the wheel is straight when driving it straight. Let me know if there’s any other questions.

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Forgot to mention I added pictures of the tires getting “measured” with a quarter.

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

    @SAABO Answered in line.

Sorry to be late with these questions, but just returned from a 2-day rally. Lots of fun, but tiring. Questions:
    - Does the top operate smoothly and without undue noises; do the windows go up and down properly with top operation?
Yes it works exactly as it should. I uploaded a video of it opening and closing and will try and get them to add it before the auction ends.

    - What hesitancy would you have, if any, in driving it, as is, to California?
None it’s in perfect mechanical condition. If anything was wrong I would of had it fixed under warranty. Note the warranty is non transferable.

    - Are the tires wearing evenly; how much tread is left?

It’s a bit hard to tell since they all look new but nothing looks like it’s worn unevenly. I thought they were new until I got the date code off of them and realized they are from 2019.

    - Is there anything in the car that doesn't work, or that works improperly?

No everything works just as it should.

    - Does the car track straight and true; is the steering wheel centered?

It drives straight as an arrow.

    - If I am the successful bidder, would you take care of replacing the key for battery and having the service reminder reset?

I can if you want. I haven’t driven it since the auction started and would prefer not to once it’s complete as at that point I don’t consider it my car anymore but will take it for one more ride if you really want me too :)

Thanks for the interest and good luck bidding!

Seller, you have been wonderfully responsive to my humble question. Thanks for that. What a gorgeous car you have presented here. The red convertible top on the Jet Black Metallic is just stunning!!! I’m sure this car will do well!

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

I uploaded the pictures I just tried to get of the scuffs. They’re both very shallow and small and very hard to see unless you get very close. I didn’t find the second smaller one until I had my face at hood level trying to get the picture of the scuff you asked about in picture 45 but it looks like what ever caused the first one also caused the one about five inches farther up the hood. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for the interest and good luck if you’re bidding!

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@WGris It’s hard to tell in the close up but the scuff is on the hood. The one pictured is about an inch long and there is another one about half the size about 5” further up the hood. Still can’t get them to show up in a picture, all that shows up is the reflection of the garage walls.

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@WGris It’s a scuff in the clear coat that should buff out. The picture was after the detail job and it still had wax in it. I noticed it when I was taking the pictures for the first time and once I cleaned the wax out I couldn’t get it to show up in the pictures. We included the picture for full disclosure since at least it was visible in that one.

  • WGris (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Does image #45 represent just a scuff in the clear coat that will buff out or a small ding?

  • Ram3k (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Rneill - haha, maybe I’ll get the chance to test your theory !

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Ram3k "Great spec, i have a 2013 911 4S PDK with same interior red leather, and roof. This would be a perfect stable mate."

It sure would! The red on black is the best combo in my opinion. It just looks incredible and the metallic reflects the red in the right conditions and looks amazing.

Just a fair warning though, you might find the 911 spending a lot more time in the garage if you pair it with this... Nothing against the 911 of course! but the mid-engine layout, seating position and X73 suspension is just sooooo good on these. It really kills me that I have to get rid of it but I would never be able to drive it once i'm moved back into my other house and it would just get ruined sitting in my garage up there at 9k' elevation with the thin very dry air. Anyway thanks for the interest and good luck if you're bidding!

  • Ram3k (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

    @Rneill - got it !

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Ram3k the hint was very subtle but it was "who likes car nerd trivia". The mountain is pikes peak which they have been racing up every year for the last 100 years. I have been up it once right before I got the Porsche actually and had nightmares for a couple weeks of the views of the drops just a few inches on the other side of the white line and will never be going up it again lol.

  • Ram3k (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Rneill - Great spec, i have a 2013 911 4S PDK with same interior red leather, and roof. This would be a perfect stable mate.

Regarding your trivia question, you said, “ The question of the day is what is the name of the mountain in the background of the pictures? BTW the hint is in this post…”. I’m in a Covid-induced brain cramp - at the risk of being ridiculed by fellow commenters / viewers, what is the hint in that post ?

    Thx and GLWTA !

@ tomcourson "Love it and the handeling is like nothing else I have ever driven. "the poor mans Porsche" LOL!"

Nice! They really are the perfect little "super car" that you can actually enjoy driving on public roads. These days a lot of cars are just too fast to have any fun with on public streets without worrying about going to jail after winding out two gears. My prev car before this one taught me that lesson. It was a 650hp Camaro ZL1 and while it was very fast I couldn't really enjoy driving it because it was too fast. These GTS's are the perfect balance of handling, styling, sound and just the right amount of power to have fun with while staying in the get a ticket category of speeding instead of the going to jail and having your car impounded category!

  • tomcourson (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

I have almost this exact spec car in the same year. I have the torque vector option but not the smoking package or headrest crests. Love it and the handeling is like nothing else I have ever driven. "the poor mans Porsche" LOL! GLWS

@JMH911 Donation has been made and I matched yours so together we donated $100

“Donation - Robert Neill donated to Douglas County Canine Rescue“

They’re a great cause and recently rescued 90 puppies that were going to be killed just because they didn’t sell in pet stores fast enough…

    Thanks again!

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

BTW for all the Porsche fans out there did you catch the new 911 turbo S run up the peak this year? Incredible especially considering the absolute lack of visibility, in clear condition it would of crushed the production car record (it came within seconds of breaking it anyway!) and beat most of the custom made pikes peak race cars times! Amazing showing, go Porsche!

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@JMH911 thanks! Will do for sure. We’re partial to pet rescues and will send it to the rescue we just saved our puppy from. I’m sure they will appreciate it and put it to good use!

    @Digs, Thanks!

  • Digs (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Rneill It’s not a big deal but I noticed under the front bumper it is missing the thin rubber piece that clips in; you can see the slots. This is also known as the “you are about to scrape the actual bumper” warning rubber. Some people actually remove this piece to provide another half inch of clearance. Too bad you’re not located closer to me. GLWA.

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Digs "@Rneill Thanks for the quick response. Does the car has any PPF on it anywhere?"

NP, It does not have any PPF on it currently nor when I bought it. I always make sure to stay at least a few car lengths back from other cars for that exact reason. There's currently no stone chips on her or any that got filled in and fixed with touch up paint.

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Sorry in a meeting, should of proofread before I hit send. Should of read *but I unfortunately only know what is on the CarFax and what I was told by the dealership I bought it at.*

If I had to guess they hit a curb with it when parking, the front bumper is quite low and you need to be careful when parking her.

  • Digs (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Rneill Thanks for the quick response. Does the car has any PPF on it anywhere?

  • Rneill (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Hi @Digs, Great question. I was told there wasn't actually an accident which is why CarFax doesn't show any accidents on it's history. As far as I know it was only to repair stone chips on the and scratches under the front bumper. I don't actually know for sure if it was resprayed or if they replaced the bumper cover. The paint matches perfectly though and you can't tell by looking at it that it had any work done on it. Also one little scratch on picture 45 had wax in it when I took that picture so it looked worse than it actually is. Once I removed the wax I couldn't get it to actually show up on the pictures so we left the picture with the wax in the listing so you could actually see there's a small clear coat scratch there. Let me know if you have any additional questions about the repair but I unfortunately only what what is on the CarFax and what I was told by the dealership I bought it at.

  • Digs (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@rneill Did the previous owner provide you the story (or, better yet, any documentation or pictures) regarding the front end accident?
Knowing who did the repair work would also be very good to know. Thank you.

Hi everyone, my name is Rob and I picked this up back in December after test driving a 2012 911 4S. I didn't even know they had this but after seeing it sitting beside the 911 I knew I had to test drive it also. The seating position, interior, sound and handling just blew me away and after the test drive I didn't have any interest in the 911 anymore. I have had a different sports car almost every year or two for the last 24 years and this is by far my most favorite one for so many reasons and I am crushed that I have to sell it due to moving back into our mountain house that has a 5 mile long very rough dirt road as a driveway. Otherwise this would be my forever car. Of all of the sports and muscle cars I have had over the years I have never driven anything that turns so fast and flat and gives unending confidence to push it in a corner like this car. The engine / exhaust sound on this last generation of non turbo 6 cylinder Boxster & Caymans with the GTS port into the cabin is as good as it gets. They're literally not aloud to make a car sound this good out of the factory anymore :( The car gets a ton of attention everywhere it goes due to the color combo, sound and GTS body work combined with the stance of the X73 sport suspension and 20 Turbo wheels really sets it apart from other Boxsters. Most people have no idea what it is, other than a really sick looking Porsche. I'll admit when I first bought it I was a bit worried I would get the, "why didn't you buy the real Porsche" all the time but it actually gets the opposite reaction and most people think it's a much more expensive car than it really is because they're not used to seeing a Boxster that looks like this and they have no idea what it is. It had $30,000 in options on the build sheet, the only thing they left off was the torque vectoring which I was a bit bummed out about but after driving it I can honestly say it doesn't need it unless you're trying to wring the last .10 of a second out of a lap time and. Anyway thats enough of me going on about how much I love it and how sad I am that it has to go. If anyone has any questions or would like a closer picture or clarifying info on any part of the car I would be more than happy to provide it. Happy bidding!
