This 2015 Porsche 991 GT3 was custom ordered in the Paint to Sample color of Arena Red Metallic over a Black leather and Alcantara interior with deviated stitching in red. The car is reportedly one of 10 Arena Red Metallic examples spec'd by Porsche Germany as a reward for dealers coming to a special training event, along with 10 other examples in Fashion Grey and another 10 in Signal Green. It also features the optional Front Axle Lift System, an extended-range fuel tank, LED headlights Sound Package Plus, Sport Chrono Package, and personalized illuminated door sill guards in stainless steel. Additionally, the car has been modified with an OEM GT3 RS steering wheel, GT4 RS gear selector, a GMG center section exhaust, DSC Sport V3 PASM controller, Endless RE20 brake pads, and modified PCM head unit with Apple CarPlay, Android, Auto, and an integrated backup camera. Benefitting from an engine replacement (G6) under warranty in 2023, this GT3 was purchased by the seller as a Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle and is now being offered for auction out of Washington with approximately 43k miles showing on the odometer.

This GT3 is finished in the Paint to Sample color of Arena Red Metallic and features custom silver Porsche graphics along the rear wing and above the rockers. Factory equipment includes optional LED headlamps, SportDesign mirrors, red brake calipers, side skirts, a front lip spoiler, a fixed rear wing, dual center-mounted tailpipes, and 20” GT3 center-lock wheels in Satin Platinum. New Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires were mounted in Fall 2023 and clear paint protection film is applied to the front end and headlights. The seller notes some imperfections on the rear quarter stone guards, a small dent on the driver’s side A-pillar, and a very slight indentation on the hood. The CARFAX report shows minor front-end damage in 2019 which is said to have resulted from a rock hitting the hood on the highway by the previous selling dealer. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, this GT3 features Black leather and Alcantara upholstery with decorative red stitching and brushed aluminum trim. Factory options include heated seats, Sound Package Plus, Light Design Package, Sport Chrono Package, Front Axle Lift System, automatically dimming mirror with a rain sensor, and personalized illuminated door sill guards in stainless steel that read “Kills bugs fast”. The cabin has been modified with an OEM 991.2 GT3 RS steering wheel in Alcantara, a 718 GT4 RS PDK gear selector, a Rennline magnetic phone mounts, and a PCM head unit with an NMAutomotive piggyback chip for Android Auto and a backup camera. The seller states the original steering wheel and gear selector will be provided to the next owner.

This GT3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine featuring multi-point electronic fuel injection, titanium connecting rods, and forged pistons. The original engine was replaced with an updated G6 version by Porsche Fremont at 33,600 miles. Up to 475 HP and 325lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission which provides acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 3.5 seconds and a top speed of nearly 200 MPH. Standard performance equipment includes rear-axle steering, an electro-mechanical limited-slip differential, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The car has been modified with a GMG center section exhaust and a DSC Sport V3 PASM controller, and both original components are included in the sale. Upgraded Endless RE20 brake pads have also been fitted and reportedly have over half of the pad material remaining. The brake system and PDK transmission fluids were replaced in Fall 2023 along with an oil change. The rear half axles were replaced at Porsche Bellevue in early 2024 and new spark plugs are included in the sale. Additionally, a Porsche CPO warranty remains in effect until January 2025.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a front tow hook, a center lock wheel adapter, an air pump, a collection of removed OEM parts, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “There is a minor accident history on the CARFAX - the previous owner had a rock hit the hood and the dealer says it was paint-less dent repaired, but if you look closely in just the right light there is a little sign of it. There is one other minor dent I could find on the car - the driver-side A-pillar, smaller than a dime. Car purrs like a wild cat. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is the most amazing engine and chassis combo I've ever experienced. Most of the miles were from an epic British Columbia Road trip me and the spouse took last fall, of which she had no complaints and was comfy as can be, even with the GMG exhaust. I have taken it to the track 3 times with the Porsche Club and toodled around in the novice group just for fun. Car hasn't been tracked since the last fluid changes. If you've driven with the Porsche Club, you know that the novice group is a bunch of shiny ducks paddling around in a circle, nothing to worry about!  Selling to make room for my 2024 Miata that just arrived. Note on 991.1 GT3 engines, the G6 in this car is the only reliable 991.1 GT3 engine code, used as 2017+ replacements. The E0 F0 G0 G1 engines are progressively better, but all have large failure rates. Once Porsche put in the G6 engines, they stopped failing. There are only two reported G6 engine failures, both bottom end (like how the 991.2 engines fail), not finger follower issues which were originally from metal inclusions in faulty parts installed. These have all the upgrades, including more powerful oil pumps, additional galleries, and DLC-coated cams and finger followers. New door card, new Kills Bugs Fast OEM door sill (original had cracked, they gave me a new one under CPO). Modifications include a 718 GT4 RS PDK shift knob and OEM 991.2 RS steering wheel with red stitching and red stripe with new leather OEM airbag. This is an amazing upgrade in both grip feel, and shifter paddle feel. The original steering wheel also comes with, including the original airbag. The GMG center section exhaust really makes the exhaust button do something - is rather quiet when valves are closed, and very loud when open above 4k rpm. The OEM exhaust will come within the frunk. A DSC Sport V3 PASM controller set to a custom tune for this car, really improves the damping quality. The OEM PASM controller comes with also. NMAutomotive android auto with license plate light backup camera - works amazingly well. No drilling, nothing permanent, and can be reverted if needed. Over half the life remaining on the Endless RE20 pads. OEM pads are included as well. Rennline phone mount, magnetic.”

@shootbig Hello, yes, I was chasing down a rattle (which ended up being the rear deck lid rubber stopper squeaking against the rubber height adjuster, fixed that) and it appears I forgot to push the trim back in. Nothing was broken, it will snap back in, I can take a picture of that later today when I get back home.

  • shootbig (registered bidder) 7 monthsago

@ DrLakes Pic #131 the C Pillar molding appears to be hanging down? You can see that in a couple of the pictures. Know anything about that? Maybe just come loose? Thanks

  • DrLakes (seller) 7 monthsago

@NYNE97.2 Yes, mind you G6 991.1 GT3 engines only. Not E0, F0, G0, G1 etc. The 991.2 engine bottom end tends to fail. There are only two G6 engine failures reported, both bottom end as well. Zero finger follower failures anywhere on the Internet. Please show me if you do find any and I will correct my statement!

@drlakes “More failures of 991.2 engines by far than 991.1”. Stated as fact. LOL. But seriously? Thinking Reddit may be your source, but if you actually have a reliable data source please share for the hoards of enthusiasts who, like me, live in the dark.

@DonnyB It does not extend any warranties - the 10 year engine replacement guarantee ends 10 years after chassis production. So any 2016 year 991.1 car without a G6 engine by the end of 2026 will no longer be eligible unless it is under CPO still. Dealers never seem to mention that part, I'd be curious if they will still CPO original engine 991.1 GT3 by then.

This is just my opinion, but basically by now, if a 991.1 doesn't have a G6, don't buy it! That's 45k for a used motor or 70k for new, then another 20k or more to get it installed out of pocket to replace.

To toot my own horn further, the G6 are as sturdy if not moreso than the 991.2 engine that replaced it (there are more failures of 991.2 engines by far than 991.1). They also sound a lot more mechanical and raw.

@DrLakes Nice! Does that extend any warranties?

  • DrLakes (seller) 7 monthsago

@DonnyB new engine was put in at 33600 chassis miles in 2022. Currently the chassis is at 43017 miles, so 9417 miles on the new G6.

My Error. Motor not replaced? Right?

  • DrLakes (seller) 7 monthsago

@John_1969 Hello, the outer CV were not replaced when Porsche Bellevue removed the half-axles to replace the inner CVs as the tech thought they looked fine. If they are leaking, this is a CPO-able repair which may be performed with new ownership up to January 2025.
    Cheers!

In reference to pic176, the outer CV boot. Is or was the cv boot damaged? The surrounding area looks to be sweaty with grease or oil.

@Audi1995 see pic 373 and 374 - that panel has a different angle to it than the hood and bumper, it's just the lighting playing games in the garage. This color has very different shades depending on the lighting angle.

    Passengers side door :
    4.84
    6.48
    6
Comments - no PPF, seems fine.

Drivers rear quarter (not above window):
    5.10
    6.61
    5.75
Comments - no PPF - Seems very consistent.

Passenger side rear quarter (not above window):
    5.00
    6.12
    5.75
Comments - No PPF, seems fine.

    Drivers side above window:
    4.58
    5.50
    5
Comments - no PPF, seems fine. Much much smaller than roof, so was not blended with roof if roof was resprayed.

    Passenger side above window:
    4.21
    5.08
    4.75
Comments - no PPF, seems fine. Much much smaller than roof, so was not blended either if roof was resprayed.

    Below the doors:
    5.06
    6.42
    5.5
Comments - no PPF, seems similar to above the windows.

Very lowest part below the doors:
    21.4
    27.4
    22
Comments - no PPF, orange peel texture.

  • DrLakes (seller) 7 monthsago

Paint meter readings are in! A ton of photos are being uploaded.

    tldr;
    1) Roof either was resprayed or came thicker than the other panels, no PPF as far as I know on it. But I challenge anyone to notice without a paint meter, it's a perfect match!

    2) The hood is about 3 mil thicker on average than the two front quarter panels, but the values from hood to quarter panel are not similar, therefore it was not blended on-car if it was resprayed. I don't see any color differences here either, and a ton of folks have admired it in the sun and never asked if any panel had a respray.

    3) Below the doors, just above the side splitters, there is very thick paint with an orange peel texture which I assume is normal as it's a large wear area for stones. No other panels appear to have any paint work.

Let me know what you think, and please ignore all the finger prints and hand smears I made taking these readings!

The meter itself (Neotek NTK103) seems to have a variance of around 1 mil I'd say based on reading the same spot within an inch.
All numbers in mil, or milli-inch. What a great unit. The hood and front fenders are under PPF, so the value is around +8 mil from the paint thickness.

I did my best to summarize below as so:
    Panel Name:
Min value across entire panel -
Max value across entire panel -
Most common grouping of values -
    Comments -

    Roof:
    10.02
    12.24
    11
Comments - No PPF as far as I can tell. Generally 10.5 to 11.5 across the entire aluminum panel, averaging slightly thinner in the rear than the front perhaps. Does this mean it is resprayed? Do 991.1 roofs run thicker? If they did respray or touch-up across the entire panel, I would have never known, it matches absolutely perfectly. Bravo on a hard color. The ferrous body that is not the roof but is just above the doors is about half the thickness, so it was not blended on either side if it is a respray. Are roof panels even replacable? I'm not sure how they'd do this. There are absolutely no dents or marks that would indicate any funny business on the roof.

    Hood:
    14.61 (near windshield)
    18.72 (near emblem)
    15.5
Comments - has PPF. Tends to get thicker towards the front emblem, thinner towards windshield. I didn't see any overspray on the bumper area (see underbody photos). Cant test the bumper since it's plastic.

    Drivers side front quarter panel:
    11.27 (behind wheel)
    13.2 (near headlight)
    12.25
Comments - has PPF. seems consistent with the other side quarter

    Passenger side front quarter panel:
11.04 (right behind the front wheel, probably polished a lot)
14.29 (right at the top of the quart by windshield)
    12.5
Comments - has PPF. Thinner down low than up higher. On average it is thinner than the hood, similar to other side quarter

    Drivers side door:
    5.35
    7.50
    6
Comments - no PPF. seems pretty consistent across, normal.

@shootbig Hi! Great question, I'll describe the chronology. I put the car for sale on PCA mart (the Porsche Club members only classifieds) around January. I had some interested buyers but tire kickers. I decided to take some better photos in February, which is when the parking lot pictures and underbody pictures were taken. I had ordered the GT4 RS shifter last November and it only arrived in February after listing, so I thought I'd stick it on anyhow. I put on approximately 500 miles (commute is 80 miles round trip to work) since the pictures, of which is when I noticed the rear half axles had a tiny leak when doing a wheel detail, so had those replaced under CPO since that's what it's there for. There are several other seemingly 'random' shots I have taken over the year of ownership. I bought the car without side or wing stickers, and added those in two stages, side stickers first, then wing around January or February. I've been traveling internationally a lot and only drove the car a few times since those photos, so the car has not changed state sitting in the garage, other than the half-axles and the dealer check.
Let me know if you have more questions! Happy to answer.

  • shootbig (registered bidder) 7 monthsago

@DrLakes just curious how recent where these pictures taken? One picture the PORSCHE sticker isn't on it. The youtube videos are 2 months ago and the GT4 shifter isn't in any of the pictures and you say you put that on in February? So that tells me the pics are at least from 3 months ago? Please help me understand as I want to bid on this car but since I'm not near you the only current representation I get is from your pictures and listing write up.

@blackdogcars great idea - I just ordered one and it should arrive tomorrow. I will post pictures across panels and we will see! I am very curious. I imagine the PPF will make the front a bit thicker, but it should be consistent across the panel if no paint work, correct?

@shootbig Hello, thank you! The tires are from fall of 2023. As far as repointing, I do not believe the front bumper has been repainted, and I also do not believe the hood has been repainted. I will check as per below:
