Introduced as McLaren’s flagship Super Series sports car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the 650S was an evolution of its predecessor, the MP4-12C, featuring improved aerodynamics, ProActive Chassis Control (PCC), and a more powerful twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The Spider version offers a retractable carbon fiber hardtop and nearly identical performance figures compared to its fixed-roof counterpart. This 2016 example is finished in Storm Grey over a red leather interior and features optional carbon fiber exterior trim, the Stealth Pack, soft close doors, parking sensors, lightweight forged wheels, and ceramic brakes with red calipers. It was originally sold from McLaren of Tampa and was sold again from McLaren of Atlanta before it was purchased by the seller’s client in 2022. Recently serviced and inspected, this 650S Spider is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia with under 10k miles showing on the odometer.
Based around a one-piece carbon fiber MonoCell chassis, the lightweight bodywork of the 650S includes dihedral butterfly doors, full LED lighting, an active rear airbrake, and a transparent engine display cover. This example is finished in Storm Grey with Steal Pack trim and an exposed carbon fiber front splitter, rear bumper, side skirts, and side intakes. Optional red brake calipers are mounted behind 19”/20” lightweight forged wheels in a dark grey finish. The seller describes the exterior to be in excellent overall condition. The CARFAX report shows minor damage to the right side in 2022 which is said to have resulted from a scratch in a parking lot. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cockpit is lined with black carpeting accented by red leather upholstery covering the bucket seats, dashboard, door panels, and center console. Accessories include a Carbon Black leather multifunction steering wheel, optional soft close doors, front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, a portrait screen infotainment system, an active dynamic control panel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The passenger door latch was replaced by McLaren of Atlanta in March 2024.
Mounted directly behind the passenger compartment, a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 engine delivers up to 641 HP to the rear wheels through a 7-speed Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG) dual-clutch transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is reached in approximately 3 seconds with a top speed of over 200 MPH. Stopping power comes from two-piece carbon ceramic brake rotors, and the double-wishbone suspension includes McLaren ProActive Chassis Control with Normal, Track, and Sport modes. An annual service and inspection was recently completed at an exotic car specialist including a new CV axle boot and the repair of a transmission leak.
