We are pleased to present this 2016 Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 finished in White over a black partial leather and Alcantara interior with deviated stitching in Platinum Grey. The ultimate track-oriented version of the 981, the original Cayman GT4 is noted for its high-performance suspension, aggressive aerodynamics, 6-speed manual gearbox, and mid-mounted 3.8L flat-six engine derived from the Carrera S. This example was acquired by the seller from its original owner in Florida with approximately 400 miles traveled from new.  It has since been optimized for track use with the installation of adjustable sway bars, a GMG roll bar, stainless steel brake lines, upgraded Brembo brake rotors, upgraded wing uprights, and more. Now with approximately 5k miles showing on the odometer, this GT4 is being offered for auction by its owner out of Ohio.

This GT4 comes finished in nonmetallic White and features removable Porsche racing stripes, upgraded Salter Aero wing uprights, and a Blackmill Performance anti-wind buffeting kit.  The GT4 can be distinguished from the standard Cayman by its enlarged side intake scoops, aggressive fascia, front splitter, rear diffuser, and large rear wing.  The finish has been preserved under a layer of Xpel paint protection film covering the full front end, headlights, A-pillars, rear bumper, fender lining, and side skirts. Additional images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The factory 20” GT4 wheels come dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires which have covered approximately 1,500 miles.

Inside, this 981 features a black partial leather and Alcantara interior with deviated stitching in Platinum Grey and factory carbon-fiber bucket seats. Additional factory equipment includes a SiriusXM Satellite Radio Receiver, HD Radio Receiver, PCM with navigation, universal audio interface, and the Sport Chrono Package. A white-painted GMG roll bar has been installed as well.

This first-generation GT4 boasts a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine derived from the 991 Carrera S. As much as 385 HP and 309 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission, making for a 0-60 time of approximately 4 seconds and a top speed north of 180 MPH.  In addition to its GT3 derived front suspension and steering rack, the GT4 features revised aerodynamic components which help to produce up to 220 lbs. of downforce at speed. This example comes equipped with upgrades to optimize performance including Brembo Type III two-piece brake rotors, Pagid RST brake pads, Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, and Competition motorsport five-way adjustable sway bars. The seller notes that the transmission was replaced under a Porsche factory recall within the last 350 miles and that the brake fluid has been flushed regularly under their ownership.

This sale will include a set of two keys, original owner’s manuals, and a clean title.  The seller states that the original brake lines, sway bars, and wing supports will also accompany the sale.  A car built for the most demanding drivers, this GT4 has been tastefully upgraded and is ready to be enjoyed both on and off the track.

@AllmxdUP just recently a GT4 with no PCCBs no buckets sold for $116k on BAT. There's an abundance of better spec'd, heck even CPO'd, on cars/autotrader/cargurus lol

@Jmzwick the reserve is kept private for benefit of all. This gives the seller the right to take the final bid should it be under their reserve price. Place your bid accordingly and you may be pleasantly surprised! Good luck.

@Oshift I did have 6 point Shroth harnesses in the car. They expire in 2021. Car/roll cage have the mounting points on them.

  • Oshift (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

For all the track work, surprised no harnesses in this, especially given the roll cage has been installed. Did you ever have them installed or did you just stick to the 3 point street belts?

  • heybluez (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@jmm23 Thanks for the info! :)

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@LateBraking Overrev was 2 years ago and the car has definitely been shaken down since. It has not been tracked since then. I bought a 718 Clubsport MR so I have been tracking that. I would say 500-1000 miles have been put on since at least.

  • LateBraking (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@jmm23 thank you for the reply, helps me get a picture prior to considering a bid. Just a follow up as I missed a reply to a few of my other incidental Qs, has it been tracked/shaken down since the over rev, and do you recall how many miles since? Or has any other testing been done to verify engine health? The DME is very helpful and 23 op hours is getting on towards a decent amount of time, but just to get the broader picture I ask. Thanks and happy Monday!

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@LateBraking Overrev was due to a missed downshift two years ago. I have not had leakdown or compression done on the engine, but everything is working in perfect order on the vehicle.

  • LateBraking (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@LateBraking Just to add perspective to my previous question, I saw that it was approximately 23 operating hours ago the overrev happened, which is under the 50 I have seen recommended. Also I've personally had an engine rebuilt due to over-rev before (997.1 GT3) despite it running fine and my being none the wiser. Was curious if this was a missed downshift on the track, what gear you went to (5-2 instead of 5-4 or 4-1 instead of 4-3, etc.), if you've had any further track days since the over-rev, and if you've had a compression and leakdown on the engine since the incident. Thank you.

  • LateBraking (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@jmm23 Just out of curiosity, what was the circumstances of the overrev?

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Dwkpcar89 above comment section says contact seller

  • Dwkpcar89 2 years, 6 monthsago

@jmm23 Is there a way to Direct Message via PCarMarket? Sorry, I am new to the platform. Or did you mean on another platform? I would be interested in stopping by to see it

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Dwkpcar89 you should be able to fit. My dad is 6’3” and fit fine with helmet. It is in warrensville heights. Direct message me for details.

  • Dwkpcar89 2 years, 6 monthsago

@jmm23 The concern is with a helmet and at 6'3", will the seating position accommodate.

Where in Northeastern Ohio is the car located and would it be possible to see tomorrow, Sunday?

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Dwkpcar89 The seat goes to the second last adjustment notch I believe. It will not reach the last notch setting because of the roll bar which resulted in the scratch.

    PPI is not an issue.

  • Dwkpcar89 2 years, 6 monthsago

    A couple follow-on questions:

    1. revisiting the seat-roll bar setup - does the roll bar prohibit the seat from going all the way back? is that why the finish damage to the back of the seat?

    2. Just read in the FAQs that a PPI needs to be conducted before the auction is final. With three days left are you in a position to have one done at the local Porsche dealer?

    Thanks!

@Oshift The hole in picture 64 is the factory hole to put a jack adapter. There is no damage there. Just dirty from track rubber.

The overrevs were a long while back. Even with auto blip, if you miss a downshift it will overrev.

  • Oshift (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Two questions: on picture 64 which shows the underside, perhaps of the jack point (hard to tell exactly), it looks pretty mangled. What is that a picture of? Second question is about the DME report: was surprised that there were range 3 and 4 over-revs given that GT4s have auto blip. How and when (eg recently on the track) did these happen? Thanks.

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Upshift4 Yes, the damage was due to seat hitting roll bar. Damage is only in clear coat. A 6'3" person can fit without a problem.

  • Upshift4 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

so is the damage to the carbon fiber backs of both seats caused by banging into the roll bar? c will the seta go back far enough for a 6'3"tall guy?

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Helix10 I have both. Working to get images uploaded now!

  • jmm23 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Dwkpcar89 Yes and yes. Come on by!

  • Dwkpcar89 2 years, 6 monthsago

Very nice track oriented track car. I am also in Ohio; can the car be made available for in person viewing? Also, are you willing to make the purchase contingent on a PPI?

  • Helix10 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    Window Sticker?
    Over-rev report?
    Thank you
