  • Color: Racing Yellow
  • Seller Type: Private Party
  • Location: Brooklyn, NY 11214
  • Lot #: V-0040097

Introduced in 2015, the original GT4 represents Porsche's performance-focused variant of the 981 Cayman featuring a reinforced chassis, a lowered ride height, GT3 brakes, an extra radiator, a limited-slip differential, Porsche Torque Vectoring, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a 6-speed manual transmission, and a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter engine borrowed from the Carrera S. This 2016 example is presented in Racing Yellow over Black leather with Racing Yellow stitching and features optional black wing supports, full bucket seats, the Sport Chrono Package, and more. Showcasing several tasteful modifications including a carbon fiber hood, a front axle lifter, an ECU tune, Armytrix headers, and an iPE titanium exhaust system, this GT4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

This GT4 is finished in Racing Yellow complemented by optional wing supports in black. It features a GT4-specific front fascia, rear diffuser, and side air intake scoops. The fixed rear wing is equipped with wing risers to optimize the rear visibility. Additionally, it has been upgraded with a GT4 RS-style carbon hood by DarwinPro Aerodynamics including exposed carbon fiber NACA ducts. The car rides on factory 20” GT4 wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Full paint protection film was applied in 2023 and the exterior is described to be in excellent overall condition. Detailed images are available in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing prior accident damage. The seller states that the original owner was involved in an accident with a guardrail, damaging the driver’s side strut tower, which was replaced. The airbags did not deploy as a result of the accident, although a salvage title was issued following repairs.

The interior features Black leather upholstery with Racing Yellow stitching. Carbon fiber trim adorns the center console and door-sill guards. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, Racing Yellow seatbelts, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation. The full bucket seats are equipped with aftermarket seat risers by Designs by Jacob, which the seller notes enhance comfort and ease of access by allowing for more reclining and accommodating a helmet for track use. Presently, there is a warning light present for low washer fluid. The seller states that this warning will disappear once the fluid is refilled and a hose is replaced.

Power is derived from a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine, delivering as much as 385 HP and 310 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), and active transmission mounts. Standard features include lowered Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a GT3-derived front end. The seller mentions that the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) have been replaced with GiroDisc steel rotors and aftermarket track pads, while the original PCCB calipers remain in place. The car has also been upgraded with a DJB front axle lift system, Armytrix headers, iPE full titanium exhaust, and a Softronic ECU tune.

This sale will include a toolkit, an air pump, and a salvage title (not actual miles).

@lcaofq151va15df14 I was not able to get a DME report done on the car due to a busy work schedule.if there was more time maybe I would be able to the following weekend. Also I bought the car without the PCCB rotors so they are not available. Thank you

  • RumbleAuto (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Are the removed PCCB rotors available? I highly recommend getting a DME scan as the title status and former track usage will obviously be holding bidding back, but a solid DME scan showing the mechanical over-revs would go a long way towards restoring bidder confidence if the report was good.

  • lcaofq151va15df14 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Any updates on the DME report?

  • Helix10 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Do you have recent alignment specifications?

A good DME report on this car will increase the value and decrease the unknown. Everyone knows what the Carfax does to the value of this car but it still has many different uses for many different people- just not a Porsche purist. For me it would be a great weekend track car. In reality it does not take as much damage to total a car now because of the value of the damaged car for the value of the parts or for rebuilding and the cost to repair the damaged car. Unfortunately this just increases insurance premium costs. Okay, back to the auction

  • mohammadghumman (seller) 2 monthsago

@bldn10 thank you bro! This car is a great spec, tastefully modded for the next owner to enjoy. Yes the car was rebuilt in IL, but any car that comes to NY has to go through a salvage inspection which is extremely hard to pass unless the car is 100%, which is why many Tri-state owned opt out to register their cars in NJ or PA for the more lenient laws with rebuilt vehicles. I am only looking to sell as I see an opportunity for me to jump into a 991.1 GT3 which is one of my dream cars haha

I just happened to be at NOLA for the 2nd ever Clubsport club race when 2 cars suffered busted shock towers. Needless to say, everyone was aghast. One of them appeared from the outside to be minor metal to metal contact - just bend that fender back out and keep going! I was intrigued and kept up w/ these cases for years. It is my understanding that if the tower is cracked to the point that there is separation, the entire tower has to be removed and replaced w/ factory parts using proprietary epoxy and technique. Porsche will not even sell the parts to a shop that is not a Porsche Certified Collision Center. Maybe the prices have come down but I remember hearing that the cost was in the $20,000+ range plus body repair. Looking at the Copart photo of this one, the hat portion of the tower was completely separated but the strut assembly had not moved upward very much. So maybe it wasn't catastrophic. But I bet Porsche would have required replacement regardless. This repair may be fine since it probably has 10,000 miles on it. But if I was going to track this car I'd want to know more about the repair. And FWIW it appears that the rebuilt title was issued in Illinois, not NY, and I don't know if NY does its own inspection of every rebuilt title that enters the state. If Mohammed got a good deal on this car and is willing to pass it along at what should be one of the lowest price GT4s so far, this could be a good car for the new owner. Caveat emptor.

  • smackenzie (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

@jmorin, to be fair you can crack a strut tower and not have it completely let go with catastrophic results. I had that happen with a pothole and the proper fix(w/porsche chassis jig) was stijll about 11k with no paintwork at all beside matching the overspray look on the tower part itself. Now add in panel replacement for a whole side on a car and those numbers add up quickly and i could see easily surpassing the tipping point for insurance to just punt and write it off.

    @Helix10 yup! Added after

  • jmorin (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

@PORCOR seriously? Have you ever seen pics of a Cayman strut tower failure? It was enough to total a pretty valuable car... I'm not saying it wasn't done right...I have no idea either way...but it is what it is.

  • Helix10 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Was the front strut tower brace added after the strut tower replacement? I've seen SPM Racing strut tower support brackets widely used but not UltraRacing. Thank you.

  • mohammadghumman (seller) 2 monthsago

    @PORCOR thank you!

  • Helix10 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Please provide DME Report thank you

  • PORCOR (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

The car looks very clean inside and outside. Detailed pictures show no visible damage underneath. I have not seen a minor damage car with that many areas of damage and still rated as minor but they all must have very minor . Looks like what you see is what you get-a great looking car with desirable specs and upgrades. GLWTA!

@SSTwin hey how’s it going, car passed NY Salvage inspection, for people out here the car has to be 100% to pass in NY due to the strictest state laws for salvage inspection. I’ve never got a DME Report, last owner did track the car occasionally. The mileage is accurate, reason why it has a mark on the title is because when it was salvaged the car wouldn’t turn on for the odo to appear for the adjuster to mark the mileage

  • SSTwin (registered bidder) 2 months, 1 weekago

Adding to the list; DME Report? Track use/history? Pics of actual damage? Copies of repair invoice? Did the repair involve frame checks on the Porsche-approved frame jig? And what is the story with the ODO reading; any idea of actual mileage?

  • mohammadghumman (seller) 2 months, 1 weekago

@jmorin the hood was not replaced after the accident, the last owner I bought the car from had put that on. This generation of GT4 has recorded issues of strut tower failure from even going over a rumble strip on the track at speed

  • mohammadghumman (seller) 2 months, 1 weekago

@BidAllWinNone Hey, I do not have a DME report

  • jmorin (registered bidder) 2 months, 1 weekago

Strut tower replacement is not a small repair. I'm not sure how contact with a guardrail breaks a strut tower and doesn't require a new fender, hood, etc. Usually broken strut towers result from a very hard hit (high speed) to a wheel over a curb or really bad pothole where the soft spring fully compresses, the strut runs out of travel, and the whole assembly is forced up through the strut tower top. Maybe this explains why the hood was replaced?

  • BidAllWinNone (registered bidder) 2 months, 1 weekago

Do you have a DME report?

  • mohammadghumman (seller) 2 months, 1 weekago

@smlobx hey, I don’t have photos regarding the crash & for the pccb rotors I don’t have them, I bought the car with the conversion

  • smlobx (registered bidder) 2 months, 1 weekago

Do you have any photos or other documentation regarding the crash? Also do you still have the PCCB rotors? Thanks.

  • mohammadghumman (seller) 2 months, 1 weekago

    Good Evening Folks,

If anyone has any questions about the car, don’t hesitate to reach out & I’ll get back as soon as I can!

    Thanks,
    Mohammad
