We are pleased to present this 2016 Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 finished in Carmine Red over a black leather interior with deviated stitching.  Reported to be one of the highest optioned 981 GT4’s on the road, this 2016 example carried an original sticker price of over $121k and showcases a long list of factory features including Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), the Sport Chrono Package, deviated carbon floor mats, Carbon Interior Package, Lightweight Bucket Seats and extended leather/Alcantara upholstery throughout the cabin.  The car is said to have never seen track use, although it comes with tasteful performance upgrades including Salter Aero wing risers, BBI rear toe links, RSS carbon fiber canards, and a lowered OEM suspension setup.  Purchased by the previous owner from Porsche of Downtown Los Angeles with very low mileage, this GT4 has since been acquired by the current owner in Arizona where it is now being offered for auction with approximately 13k miles showing on the odometer.

This 981 is reported by the seller to be one of only 138 981 GT4’s to have been ordered in Carmine Red.  This example also came factory optioned with Bi-Xenon headlights in black, wing supports in black, headlight cleaner covers in a deviated exterior color, and wheels painted in Satin Black.  It has been modified with Salter Aero wing risers and RSS carbon fiber front canards for added downforce.  The entire car has also been preserved under clear paint protection film since the original owner’s purchase, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  Yellow PCCB calipers can be seen behind the 20” GT4 wheels dressed in original Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.  The seller reports less than half tread remaining on the rear tires and more than half remaining in the front.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a beautifully appointed black leather interior with deviated stitching in Guards Red.  The cabin features optional Lightweight Bucket Seats, deviated carbon floor mats with leather edging, the Carbon Interior Package, Extended interior Package in leather/Alcantara, aluminum pedals, and the Light Design Package.  Options from Porsche’s Exclusive Department include center console trim in carbon fiber, a storage compartment lid in Alcantara with embossed Porsche crest, sun visors in Alcantara, an instrument surround in leather, steering column casing in leather, seatbelts in Guards Red, and a fuel cap with aluminum-look finish.  The driver is also supplied with 2-zone automatic air conditioning, an electronic logbook, Sport Chrono package, Telephone Module, SiriusXM satellite radio receiver, and a 6-disc CD/DVD changer.  OEM black steering wheel trim has been installed and a complete list of factory options is provided in the photo gallery.  The seller notes that when the high beams are turned on, they won't turn off unless the headlights are switched off and on. This electrical issue is presumed to be a result of the OEM battery being replaced in favor of an Antigravity RS-30 lithium restart battery.

This 981 GT4 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine derived from the 991 Carrera S.  Up to 385 HP and 310 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing the GT4 to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds.  The original transmission in this GT4 was replaced by Porsche under warranty during previous ownership.  BBI Autosport rear toe links have been installed with mildly adjusted camber, and the factory suspension has been slightly lowered.  The seller purchased the car at 3k miles and it is reported to have received all scheduled services up to that time.  Since then, this GT4 has been serviced exclusively through Porsche North Scottsdale.

This sale will include a set of two painted keys with leather key pouches, the original owner's manuals, window sticker, genuine touch-up paint, a Porsche battery charger, original toe links, an interior upholstery cleaning kit, and a clean title (lien). An exceptionally configured example of a first-generation Cayman GT4, this 981 is a perfect choice for collectors and discerning drivers alike.

@jehock Hey! Photos of the original DME report I had done upon purchase are being added to the listing soon. I've reached out to my local dealer and will find out Monday if they are able to get me in for a report before the listing ends! If not, like I said, I will provide one upon purchase and can assure that it has never been overrevved in my ownership as well. Hope that helps!

Wow. This spec is probably the best 981 I have seen. A similar spec Guards Red sold on here just last week except no PCCB's

  • jordan98 (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@DeuceDeuceBravo good question! the previous owner had informed me that Porsche said the new battery wasn’t coded to the ecu resulting in this small electrical trip. We were told this upon day of pick up/dme report so I figured I’d have the issue fixed once the car is home and never got around to it. I’ve forgotten it’s even a problem.

  • DeuceDeuceBravo (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Gorgeous. This thing must be a blast.
"Presuming" electrical issues seems a tad risky. Has anyone tried fitting a stick battery to see if that resolves the issue?

  • jordan98 (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@raidersfan The GT4 out of the box is a very very capable street and track car. I agree. Can't imagine what some minor suspension mods (aside from the BBI rear toe links that are already on the car) would do to it for canyon/track use! I think if you plan on using it for the street often, keeping the stock suspension will still suffice!

  • raidersfan (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

wow! We had a RY GT4 with buckets, but this is the dream car right here! With that said, we sold the GT4 to buy a 2015 Cayman S with about $30k worth of upgrades (including buckets) and in autocross, those suspension upgrades makes the GT4 feel like a minivan compared to our Cayman S. It just shows you what the GT4 would be capable of with Moton 3-ways and Elephant racing bits throughout-likely more capable than a GT3RS in terms of grip and handling.
