This 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 has been extensively upgraded and modified by Reno Rennsport with the intention of racing in hill climb events. It comes factory finished in White over a black leather and Alcantara interior with carbon fiber trim and features custom racing graphics as well as safety equipment, E-Motion suspension, KW coilovers, a Dundon aero kit, a Dundon GT4 street power kit, re-geared transmission, a limited-slip differential, and more. Having never seen track use and with just over 7k miles on the odometer, this GT4 is now being offered for auction out of Nevada.

This GT4 is finished in White with removable racing graphics as well as an aftermarket Dundon aero kit including a carbon fiber swan neck rear wing, front splitter, undertray strakes, and dive planes. Optional Bi-Xenon headlights in Black were equipped from the factory and a set of Rennline tie-downs were installed along with a folding front tow hood. The car rides on a set of 19” Forgeline wheels mounted on studs with new Pirelli P Zero racing tires. The original 20” GT4 wheels and tires are said to accompany the sale as well.

The black leather and Alcantara interior is accented by deviated platinum Grey stitching and includes factory lightweight bucket seats as well as the Carbon Fiber Interior Package. Other options include seatbelts in Silver Grey, a Porsche-crested storage compartment lid in Alcantara, pedals and footrest in aluminum, and center console trim in carbon fiber. A roll bar has been installed along with 6-point racing harnesses, a fire extinguisher, an AIM camera, and a power cutoff switch. The rear portion of the interior has been stripped for weight savings and all the original pieces will be included with the sale. The seller also installed a modification to eliminate the TPMS warning light resulting from the aftermarket wheels.

Derived from the contemporary 911 Carrera S, the 981 Cayman GT4 is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine rated at 385 HP stock. This GT4 received a Dundon street power kit including racing headers, a valved GT3 muffler, COBB Accessport and tune, Dundon intake runners, an IPD plenum, and a GT3 throttle body. The kit was installed at a cost of over $20k and claims gains of up to 70 HP at the wheels. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a re-geared 6-speed manual transmission featuring a lightweight flywheel, Tilton twin disc racing clutch, and a limited-slip differential. An E-Motion GT4 suspension kit was also installed along with KW Clubsport coilovers. Corresponding invoices are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include a collection of invoices and a clean title.

@CaymanMagic Yes very easy to reverse to the factory clutch setup, no permanent mods. The clutch was done not for the power but so the car could be launched on the start of the hillclimb. No Caymans like this and usually destroys the clutch even upgraded ones. This was a custom attempt to build a clutch that could handle that. It never was tested in that way.

  • renorennsport (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@CaymanMagic The plywood was customer supplied, it is just duct taped to the floor mat.
The cord under the glove box is power for the AIM system.

  • CaymanMagic (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

The invoices (thanks for including them) note that some trim was removed to allow extra clutch pedal travel for the race clutch. Are those changes easily reversible if the clutch is replaced with a factory or street option?
Can the factory clutch really not deal with an extra 70 on these cars?

  • CaymanMagic (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Can you comment on that plywood on the floor on the passenger side?
Is it taped to the floor to provide space for a second fire extinguisher?
Also what's the wiring under the glovebox for?

  • renorennsport (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Brcjets Yes. The fire extinguisher gets in the way a bit if you put the passenger seat all the way forward, but you can unclip it.

  • Brcjets (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Do both of the seats still have the normal amount of travel and adjustment?
    Thanks.

  • renorennsport (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Drdarryldds993 it's tuned to run pump (91) right now. You could easily add a tune for 100 and bump timing if you wanted.

With the modifications that have been made does the engine now require 100 octane gas? Or is it “ suggested “ that 100 octane would be better ?

@Helix10 the clutch is not bad on the street in my opinion, similar to an early GT3RS clutch for feel. Guard diff and the gear package is Holinger's setup which you can read about on their website, includes ratios. I believe it's very rare, only one we ever did and had to build tools for it because nobody had any. Yes readout will be added monday.

  • renorennsport (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@bldn10 Yes the original wing is included. The owner had it as a street car completely stock and it was serviced regularly at Porsche then brought it to us for the modifications. We did the first round of upgrades so he could take it to a hill climb event, he attempted to launch it on the practice run and smoked the clutch. Trailered back to us when we put the custom clutch in, then health issues occurred so it never got driven, been sitting since.

  • renorennsport (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@NOLADRIVER Hi yes, just as the car was finished the owner had medical issues prohibiting him from driving it as intended. Not a dealer, just the shop that did all the work helping out. Yes I can post the PWIS readout monday.

How street unfriendly is the clutch? And what brand LSD (Guard, Quaife, Deman)? Finally, over rev report?

  • bldn10 1 year, 4 monthsago

Does the OEM wing come with it? Never on track but what about hill? I don’t imagine this car was driven on the street in that configuration, are the miles prior to the mods being done or what?

  • NOLADRIVER (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Can you share why it is being sold? Are you a dealer (was this a trade in)?
Do you have the over revs report? What does it indicate?

  • Flsupraguy (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

    Very nice car glws
