I have learned that paint thickness readings at 7 and above are very unusual for a 991 Porsche 911. Since there were some readings in that range on the left rear quarter panel in the first group of readings, I took some additional readings. The last nine readings are posted from that panel and they are all less than 7.

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@TARGA991.2 - Thanks for your question. I really do not know anything about paint meter readings and I would welcome any Comments from those with knowledge. There is much discussion on Rennlist on this subject. My take is that 4-7 mils is common and normal for a 991. Also, I am not aware of how accurate the meter I used actually is.

  • Booner (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@LloydStC Thanks for posting the paint thickness measurements. Very helpful and I think it only helps your auction.

  • TARGA991.2 2 years, 11 monthsago

lloyd, you have done a fine job presenting your porsche and answering all and any questions. paint meter readings is above my pay scale. how do you interpret? most of yours are 5- 5.5 range. i assume these are considered good?

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Paint meter readings are now available in the gallery.

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Booner - I borrowed a paint thickness gauge/meter this afternoon and have taken some readings with pictures. They should be posted to the Gallery on Thursday morning.

@TARGA991.2 (Continuation of first reply to your question) The scratches on the rear bumper have been polished out and are almost imperceptible. I have taken two photos of the area in question (left of a parking sensor on the driver's side) and they are currently photos 127 and 128. (At the time of this writing these two photos are duplicated as 130 and 131.) In both photos (one is actually a cropped version of the other) you can see vertical lines of distortion in the reflection (when enlarged) which are the remnants of the scratches. They were polished out to the extent the detailer thought reasonable without risking going through the clear coat. The remnants of the scratches can only be seen under a bright light from a flashlight and are not noticeable unless pointed out. They are not visible in the midday sunlight which I just checked. There is one other photo in the PPI (photo 91) that identifies a scratch that went away during polishing and I don't know where it was.

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@TARGA991.2 - Thanks for your question. If you are referring to the PPI report from Evans Auto Care (photos 87 through 103), they were taken in December 2019 when I had the car inspected prior to purchase. Those scratches on the wheel and the taillight (and the area around it) were first addressed to a large degree by the dealership (Porsche of Kings Automall) after I reported the PPI results to them. I later completed some additional cleanup around the taillight and you can see the result in the picture at the very end of the gallery, currently picture 129. The taillight is completely free of blemishes. (Continued in next Comment)

Hi Lloyd, in many of the newer added photos it shows minor scratches, road rash, etc to the light housings, wheel rash on one rim, other minor scratches to underside of bumper. have all these been corrected by executive auto? thanks

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Booner - I am sorry but I do not have any paint meter readings at this time. The car has not been painted since I have owned with the exception of some very light touch up. In the PPI report, they noted that there was no evidence of paint or body work.

  • Booner (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

    Lloyd,
Any chance you have paint meter readings for the car?
    Thanks

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Booner Thanks for your question. The results of ceramic coating on (even new) cars usually are enhanced by paint correction before application. This is quite normal and is sometimes referred to polishing. Since there were those scratches noted in the PPI, it made even more sense to have it paint corrected professionally. Light scratches and swirls accumulate from normal use by many owners.

  • Booner (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

    Lloyd,
Regarding your latest comment, can you elaborate on the paint correction? Was this to address the issues found during the Dec 2019 PPI as highlighted in the additional pictures you added?
    Thank you

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

In January 2020, I had the car paint corrected in preparation for installation of ceramic coating on the exterior painted surfaces. Please find the invoice from Executive Auto Detailing for this service (added today, 5/11). In January 2020 I began the process of ceramic coating in my garage. After a complete wash using a foam cannon and the two-bucket method (actually three buckets with the wheel bucket), chemical decontamination using tar remover and iron remover. Then physical decontamination using a clay towel. At this point I took the car to Executive for the paint correction. When the car was back, the coating preparation was completed with an IPA wipe down. The wheels were then removed and cleaned up the same way with chemical and physical decontamination. For both the wheels and the painted surfaces, I applied one coat of GTechniq CSL and two coats of GTechniq EXOv4. I also applied a coating of CarPro Dlux to the black trim pieces and other black surfaces in the frunk, the engine compartment and underneath the spoiler.

@TARGA991.2 - Today I added a number of new pictures of the underside of the car, both front and rear. Please let me know if you would to see different views and I will try to get that done for you. Lloyd

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

You will see a number of pictures of the passenger seat where there is a very light discoloration on the seat bottom as circled in the one photo. You would probably not notice this unless it was pointed out to you. Also there is a picture of a small cut below the glove box handle which you cannot see from the passenger seat but when the camera is placed on the seat itself, it is visible. This can repaired by an interior reconditioning person.

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

I have added a number of new pictures today as well. Most of them are of the underside of both the front and rear bumpers and a few below other sections of the car.

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

I have added a couple of other documents to the listing today. 1) The Pre Purchase Inspection (PP1) report December 2019 by Evans Auto Care. The cosmetic items in the report where fixed by either the dealer or the detail shop here in Tulsa; 2) The receipt from Autohaus Unlimited for an oil change in November 2020.

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

The history of this car is not always clear on the Carfax. I recently added a copy of the delivery page in the owner's manual (picture 85 at this time) showing it was sold by Hennessy Porsche near Atlanta on 4/25/2017. I do not know for sure where the original owner sold or traded the car but I was told by the dealer I purchased the car from (Porsche of Kings Automall near Cincinnati) that they purchased the car from a Mercedes dealer in Kentucky. I purchased the car in December 2019 and had it transported from Cincinnati to Tulsa, OK.

This car includes the transferable Porsche CPO warranty as mentioned in the listing which is in effect until late April 2023. For potential buyers who may be interested in a third party extended warranty (such as Fidelity), the mileage (being <10,000) qualifies the car for the least expensive tier on their price list. The extended warranty price goes up considerably when the mileage goes over 10,000.

  • LloydStC (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

I would like to clarify the actual mileage on this car. It is 9,742 as of the date of this posting, 5/10/21. It is my only car so I may occasionally need to drive it on short errands. There have been pictures showing a lower number (89xx) and a since-corrected number in the grey box at the top of the listing.

Hi Jerry and thanks for your question. Yes, those scratches are underneath the front bumper on both sides on mostly just the painted surfaces. They cannot be seen standing near or next to the car. You must get down on your knees to see them.
