Now available for auction is this 2019 BMW i8 Roadster finished in Sophisto Gray Pearl over an E-Copper Exclusive leather interior. The i8 was introduced in 2014 as the flagship plug-in sports car in BMW’s new electrified i-Series lineup, and quickly became the world’s top-selling hybrid sports car. The Roadster variant was released in 2018 with improved performance, a longer full-electric range, and a power-operated two-piece folding soft top. This 2019 example was optioned with the Travel Package and Tera World Copper Package which includes ceramic controls, black-painted brake calipers, an Anthracite headliner, and natural Amido leather & cloth trim. Showing just under 9,500 miles on the odometer, this i8 Roadster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.

This i8 Roadster is finished in Sophisto Gray Pearl (B90) with Frozen Blue accents. The design of the i8 is heavily influenced by the legendary BMW M1, the last mid-engined sports car designed by BMW prior to the i8. The chassis is constructed of lightweight aluminum with a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) safety cell. This platform offers perfect axle load distribution and a very low center of gravity. The power-operated black soft top can be opened or closed in as little as 15 seconds at speeds up to 30 MPH. Other exterior features include butterfly doors,  BMW Laser Light LED adaptive headlights, black-painted brake calipers, a trunk lid spoiler, Roadster badges on the B-pillars, and a two-piece front splitter as equipped with the optional Aerodynamics Package. The i8 Roadster is powered by a hybrid drivetrain consisting of a mid-mounted 1.5L TwinPower turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, paired with a front-mounted eDrive electric motor, which combined offer a total power output of 369 HP and 420 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a 6-speed automatic transaxle while the electric motor powers the front wheels through a two-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain allows the i8 Roadster to reach 60 MPH in approximately 4.4 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH, all while achieving a 69 MPG highway fuel economy. The 11.6 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack can be charged fully in just over three hours. The seller reports this i8 to have received routine maintenance including a recent brake and oil service at BMW of Bloomfield, NJ in May of 2021.
