  • Mileage: 7,462

Finished in GT Silver Metallic over a black leather and Alcantara interior with deviated yellow stitching, this 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 came generously equipped from the factory with optional extended leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, full bucket seats, and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) among many other premium features. It was originally ordered by a VIP Porsche customer and stored in a climate-controlled collection before it was acquired by the current owner with less than 500 miles driven from new. The car was subsequently delivered to DeMan Motorsports where a 4.5-liter engine conversion was carried out along with the installation of short ratio gears, a lightweight clutch kit, and a limited-slip differential at a cost of over $54k. More powerful than Porsche's latest GT3 RS, this uncompromising Cayman GT4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut showing under 7,500 miles on the odometer.

Compared to a standard 718 Cayman, the GT4 model receives a fixed rear wing with integrated side plates and uprights in Black Aluminum as well as a lower rear diffuser, side air intakes with “GT4” embossed sideblades, and an aggressive front fascia with large air inlets and spoiler lip. This example is finished in GT Silver Metallic and includes yellow-painted calipers for optional ceramic brakes as well as optional LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+).

The seller states clear Xpel Ultimate paint protection film and ceramic coating were applied to the full exterior after the work was completed by DeMan Motorsport, and Protective RGS side radiator intake grilles have been fitted as well. The car rides on factory GT4 wheels dressed in a set of new Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus XL tires. An additional set of unused Michelin Sport Cup 2 rear tires is also said to be included along with a set of matching front tires with one day of track use. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report and a log of the owner’s track days.

The cabin is appointed with black leather and Alcantara accented by yellow deviated stitching and optional carbon fiber trim. Other options include full bucket seats, seatbelts in Racing Yellow, illuminated carbon fiber door sills, pedals and footrest in aluminum, and sun visors, fuse box covers, and steering column casing in leather. The driver is also provided with two-zone automatic climate control, the Light Design Package, power-folding and auto-dimming mirrors, Bose Surround Sound System, Apple CarPlay, Voice Control, Chrono Package, and Navigation with Porsche Connect. Custom P1 seat inserts have been fitted along with a Flat 6 Motorsport GoPro mount, T-Design module, and 992 GT3 shift knob with yellow stitching. The original seat inserts will accompany the sale.

This 718 was brought to DeMan Motorsport in February 2022 where its original flat-six engine was increased to a 4.5-liter displacement resulting in a dyno-tested output of 545 HP. The invoice totaling over $54k from DeMan Motorsports also included upgraded over-axle exhaust pipes, a lightweight clutch and flywheel assembly, a short ratio 2nd-5th gear set, and a DeMan Motorsport limited-slip differential. The seller notes the headers retain catalytic converters, and all maintenance has been performed by DeMan Motorsports during their ownership.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, invoices, and the original window sticker.

@cooler2442 all 718 Caymans have to have ECU removed to flash .. unlike previous generations (ex. 981) where you could use a device (ex. Cobb). I know DeMan has a few cars in CA, but not sure how they handle it.

  • cooler2442 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@slatett California now tests for modified tunes/ECU's when you buy a used car to register. Can the car be flashed back to a stock tune and be driven for a few hundred miles to get all of the sensors ready to pass smog or will it throw a check engine light?

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@bldn10 - I do not want to speak for DeMan (I am just one customer) - but I will assert that Rick/his shop are very high integrity group, they live by referrals/reputation and if any issues comes up with their work .. they do what is right. I would do it again (and might).

  • bldn10 1 year, 3 monthsago

"confirmed 1 yr [warranty] and transferrable to the new owner"
So by the time the new owner gets it, it will be expired. In previous discussions it was determined that there were no warranties, at least on 981's, I wonder if Rick deems the 4.0 conversions more robust?

@tdokmo No prior paintwork, no bodywork ever, no accidents and no off track experiences

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@cooler2442 - I have catted headers and all emissions are intact - Deman has sold plenty of upgrades to California (including t o Matt Farrah( .. I do not know if it will pass tests). In order to go to factory tune ECU would need to be flashed.

  • tdokmo (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Any prior paintwork or bodywork ever ?

  • cooler2442 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Will this pass Smog in CA with the Tune that car is currently on? Can the Deman car run with a stock tune that will pass Smog?

I will preface this comment by saying I have no affiliation with the Seller, other than a similarly optioned/modified GT4 with a DeMan Motorsports 4.5 motor (albeit PDK). I purchased the car new, and the 718 platform is really nice, but under-powered imho. Sent the car to Rick with around 4k miles, now with around 8k miles. It is a joy to drive on the street (the additional torque is what I really notice) and for occasional track use, really hard to beat other than going to arrive/drive as Seller intends to do. Lucky Buyer will be pleased with this one!

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Benoit25racing - I did the math .. actual track miles is <900 (and that includes warm ups and cool down) and my longest session was 30 minutes .. in the video you can see the inside of the brakes. According to DeMan/me the PCCBs are fine and they get checked/measured after every HPDE. I will take closer pictures/post this this evening. FYI .. they do not squeak either.

  • Benoit25racing (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@slatett Thank you, can you comment on the condition of the rotors (or post photos of the brakes/rotors specifically)? ...With a bunch of track days on these brakes and the PCCB rotors costing a pretty penny to replace, it would be helpful to understand their condition.

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@slatett - confirmed 1 yr and transferrable to the new owner

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

    @Benoit25racing -

here is the over rev readout from a few days ago at a local shop that had a tool to read

Overspeed range 1: Number of ignitions - 1603 (~4 seconds)
Overspeed range 1: operating hours - 7422 min
Overspeed range 2: Number of ignitions - 483 (~1.2 seconds)
Overspeed range 2: operating hours - 7314 min
Overspeed range 3: Number of ignitions - 151 (~0.4 second)
Overspeed range 3: operating hours - 4704 min
Nothing reported in Overspeed ranges 4-6

PCCBs all have >12mm on pads .. when DeMan looked at them < month ago said they were fine .. sorry do not have a report

  • Benoit25racing (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@slatett, are you able to post the over-rev report you cited in a previous post? Was this report run AFTER the 6 listed track days (thank you for the transparency on that!)?
Can you comment on the condition of the PCCB rotors/pads?
Thank you, beautiful example of a Cayman"+"!

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Chapmans Will need to double-check .. I believe it is one year. With that said, they have been outstanding to deal with .. so far they handled all the maintenance included in the cost.

  • Chapmans (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Does DeMan provide any kind of engine warranty?

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@slatett - I added the actual DeMan invoice and days on the track. Just to note, I do not have a trailer - I drove to/from the HPDE events. The actual number of miles on track was 904 .. the longest session I did was ~30 minutes and of course there was warm up/cool down. So many of the actual miles were either break in/driving to/from track.

I have a similarly built DeMan 4.5 and can attest to the joy of driving this machine on the street. It sounds amazing, has ridiculous power, and has a very mechanical-feeling shift linkage (shames any M2/ M3). It pulls like a monster with the shorter gears and has incredible stability with the modified diff.
This is one of those rare toys that doesn't require you to go way past the speed limit to feel engaged as a driver. But, you can instantly blow past any speed limit if you so chose. There are a number of very satisfied DeMan-build owners who only street drive their GT4's.
Of course you can take it to track as is, or do a little suspension work and ratchet up the fun factor even more while exploring the limits of its mid-engine layout.
Someone is going to get a beauty!

Seller: Good luck with your next toy. Nothing beats arrive and drive!

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with seller... just a satisfied DeMan 4.5 owner.

Do you have a mod list to share? Any suspension mods?

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Dfwporscheguy All 718 DeMan 4.5L GT4 have a 98 tune and require boostane or 100 octane gas (most tracks offer it). With auction including a case of 20 .. you get roughly 3 fill ups per can. Honestly takes less than a minute.

  • Dfwporscheguy 1 year, 3 monthsago

@slatett can you confirm this car runs on pump gas (not requiring octane boost?). In reading about these builds, it seems some (or all) require 98 octane?

  • NOLADRIVER (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@slatett THanks for finding out. Are you able to post the report?

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

  • NOLADRIVER (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Man, Look at that HP goes all the way to red line. With the shorter range gearing, I bet that makes for some hair raising tight shifts!

    1. Resulting power and performance? see pic 115 - according to dyno 545hp

    2. Has it retained some amount of streetability? Or is it too much for errands and pleasure drives? IMO - very streetable typically around town I have PSE off and the Contis currently installed .. for HPDE days - I typically drive there/back with Michelin SC2

    2. Why sell? I have other car projects I want to do and considering arrive/drive this year for my HPDE days

  • kyjef (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Amazing. Love this. I’ll ask the first 3 standard questions. Thanks in advance!
    1. What is the resulting power and performance? If it hasn’t been on the dyno, etc. do you have estimates?
    2. Has it retained some amount of streetability? Or is it too much for errands and pleasure drives?
    2. Why sell?

  • slatett (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago
