A historic limited-edition model with just 115 examples produced in total, the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition was created by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the original Porsche 356 America Roadster. It comes finished in Azure Blue 356 paint and features red and white exterior accents, specially finished RS Spyder Design wheels, two-tone interior cross-stitching, 70th Anniversary illuminated door sills, and a 7-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. This example was extensively configured with additional options including the Extended Interior Package, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), rear axle steering, front axle lift system, Adaptive Sport Seats Plus, LED-Matrix Design headlights, and more. It was acquired by the owner from Porsche Sand Diego in March 2023 and is now being offered for auction out of California with under 500 miles showing on the odometer.

The America Edition features special Azure Blue 356 paint and a black cabriolet roof complemented by red and white “America” logo stripes on each side along with a matching rear model designation. It rides on 20”/21” RS Spyder Design wheels finished in white with silver faces and red outer pinstripes. This example is equipped with optional LED-Matrix Design headlights in black, SportDesign side skirts, and ceramic brake calipers in high-gloss black. The seller notes that XPEL clear paint protection film was applied over the full exterior in March 2023. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the America Edition features black leather upholstery with contrasting red and white stitching, Guards Red seatbelts, a central tachometer and Sport Chrono dial in white, “911” embroidered headrests, an “America” embossed armrest, and commemorative illuminated door sills. This example is optioned with the Extended Interior Package which adds a red 12 o’clock marker to the steering wheel and additional two-tone stitching throughout the cabin. It also features optional heated and ventilated 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats Plus with leather backrests inlays, a heated GT Sport steering wheel in leather, pedals and footrest in aluminum, Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and under-door puddle light projectors. The America Edition is equipped as standard with the Premium Package which adds Surround View, Storage Package, Power Folding Exterior Mirrors, Bose Surround Sound System, and Ambient Lighting.

Up to 473 HP and 420 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels from a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine and a 7-speed manual transmission. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) comes standard, and this example features optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, rear axle steering, Power Steering Plus, and an extended-range fuel tank. The seller indicates the car remains covered under its original factory warranty.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, a toolkit, a car cover, and a clean title.

Well, it seems this car is staying with its owner. Having driven it, we don’t think that such a bad thing, as it’s wonderful to drive. A big thank-you to everyone that bid, to the owner that entrusted us to sell his car, and to the folks at @pcarmarket.

@eagle32: you've been very clear in your position, both here and on BaT. Clearly, this is not the car for you; please enjoy your blue-roofed, chalk leather GTS.

For the rest: As this auction enters its final minutes, a quick reminder to our bidders that the auction clock resets when a bid is made with two minutes or less to go. Whilst it can be amusing, waiting until the last second may mean your bid doesn’t get registered in time. If you’re interested in this wonderful car please keep that in mind and don’t cut it too close. It also helps to refresh your browser from time to time. Best of luck!

I like the car - but they are worth not much more than any other 2023 GTS cab -- fair price is in the $180,000 range - but most owners have too much in these cars - particularly if they paid an ADM for the car. I will add one to my garage one of these days-- maybe a car with 4,000 or 8,000 miles -- and the price is more in line with one of one GTS builds. I like the car mostly because I was born on 1952 also! AS I said - it is a wonderful car-- all GTS Cabs are -- but the car could have been a much more desirable build with a blue top and chalk interior.
I agree the alternative is to build a brand new GTS Cab-- and I have my request in for exactly that - waiting for the 992.2 at year-end-- which the new model won't help the 992.1 cars in terms of value. I bid up to what I am willing to pay-- others may wish to pay a lot more --

@1974Bronco: whilst we don't disagree with your comment about 356s, your thoughts on this owner having purchased the car to flip it are off base. He was given the opportunity to buy the car by Porsche San Diego with ADM, PPF etc. He found that it was more car than he's comfortable with and is looking to recoup as much of his investment as he can. He's most certainly not looking to try and turn a profit.

@eagle32 Not sure why you continue to try to devalue this car? On BAT you were talking it down and even called it the ugly duckling and then you were bidding on it all the way up lol. You missed out on an allocation for whatever reason and you continue to complain about the color combination of this special edition, ultra-limited production Porsche. Have you ever seen a GTS America Roadster in person? These cars are stunning. The interior matches perfectly with the black A Pillar and the black top. What if you had you been able to select a chalk interior with a blue top? Yikes. We have all seen many distasteful 1 of 1 custom built cars. Porsche may have saved you from yourself on that one.

Perhaps you can get a PTS GTS Cab allocation (if you can?) and order it however you want (although you can't select this color, this stitching, or these wheels) and save this for someone who really appreciates the car.

There will be more of these Americas showing up for sale as owners that bought and parked these realize they are not worth a premium over msrp or essentially a similar GTS cab which are a msrp car. Germans don’t understand how to design an America tribute car - the top should have been blue and the interior should have been chalk so the fancy stitching would really pop. But the car itself- GTS 911 cab. Is a wonderful vehicle and the best balanced car in the porsche line up in terms of power, handling and fun on the road with the top down. No wind buffeting at all like happens in my 992 Targa 4. The owner should keep the car and drive it!

  • 1974Bronco (registered bidder) 1 month, 4 weeksago

I’m betting that every one of the original 356’s were kept, driven and not flipped for profit.
Porsche needs to cut these people off so the people that predicate being able to buy a car at Porsche intended pricing can have one.
    Stop buying these and wait

With one day left on this auction, we should note that the reserve on this listing is less than it was when it was listed on BaT. Good luck and happy bidding!

  • compasscollective (seller) 2 monthsago

@eagle32: this is pretty much where the current owner's thoughts are. It didn't meet reserve on BaT, and if it doesn't here, then it'll be going to Cars & Coffee all over San Diego County. Doesn't hurt to try to sell on PCM before putting miles on it; it'll only be a 450-mile car once ;-)

  • eagle32 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Pricing a car at msrp is fair by a dealer- no reason they should hand a customer an instant profit by selling below market value. But selling the car way above the price they know exceeds market price and then adding cash grab options like a $2500 tracking system is unnecessary. Not too difficult to get a GTS cab 2024-25 allocation that you can make one of one yourself for msrp, This is a wonderful car and an interesting spec- mostly because of the unique color blue. It would be fun to take to cars and coffee.

  • SER (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

@eagle32 How was the owner taken advantage of by his dealer?

  • pdallen1075 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Wow this is a quick re-list from BaT. Went RNM there for $228k there. Curious to see if it'll do better here after only a week.

  • eagle32 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

These models were sold to existing good dealer customers at msrp. This owner was taken advantage of by his dealer. Unfortunately by my friends at Porsche San Diego. I had allocations offered by Colorado Springs Porsche for this special edition at msrp and I turned it down because Porsche refused to let me spec the interior color in chalk and the top in blue canvas. The black interior is okay - regret not adding the car to my collection. I have bought two 911’s from San Diego Porsche - GT4 and a 911T new and paid msrp both times and refused to buy there silly after market theft alarm since all Porsche models have a tracking system for free built into the car and today you can simply throw an Apple AirTag under a seat and track it real time for $29. SDP really took advantage of this owner. Talk to Eric a salesman at SDP - easy to deal with and ethical. I recently bought a Shark blue Porsche electric bike from SDP and negotiated a 15% discount easily. On the two cars I just told them not to install that silly tracking system as I did not want them cutting into the wiring harness. No resistance. They know that tracking system is rather abusive and outdated.

@barryle it’s a 1 of 115 and tells the story of Porsche and the first American Roadster. It’s also more than just some stitching. Could you say it’s Porsche marketing? Of course but it’s hardly a plain old GTS. As an owner of one of these and with the rarity and beautiful color it draws a really serious crowd of Porsche nerds and people wondering if my wheels are “stock”. Regardless it’s an opportunity to educate on the significance of what this car represented to America, Max Hoffman and the Porsche brand. Good Luck with the Auction.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

This America Edition cost $30,000.00 more than a similarly optioned Carrera GTS Cab. Add in the additional dealer markup, the cost differential is more than $60,000.00 for some special deviated interior stitching and pin striped wheels. I just don’t get it. I am quite content with my “standard” Carrera GTS Cab that I bought at MSRP.
