The Boxster GTS 4.0 comes standard with a SportDesign front fascia as well as darkened trim elements, Sport Tailpipes in high-gloss black, and a 20mm lowered ride height to complement 20” 718 Sport wheels in Satin Black. This example is finished in Agate Grey Metallic with a black roadster top, safety bars in High Gloss Black, the SportDesign Package in High Gloss Black, and LED headlights w/ PDLS as part of the optional Premium Package. The seller would like you to know: “Immediately after taking ownership, I had the XPel "Track Pack" PPF clear film applied to full front half and side rocker panels for paint protection (10-year warranty). Plus, I had a 100% Ceramic Coat on the car for full weather protection and paint durability. I planned to keep this a very long time but a month after I got it, I found out I had to delay retirement and some other news which made keeping this difficult. I figured I'd let someone drive this who could really enjoy it now and while the car has little use and the best value. Only I have driven it and have put on about 400 miles a month mostly commuting with a spattering of fun canyon driving. Best handling car I've ever driven, even better than a 2016 911 Carrera S I had a 2-year lease with. I personally hand wash it every two weeks and is kept in a garage at home and at work. It has reached the 1000-mile mark so fully broken in and can now be let loose on the open roads.”

Also, I'm a non-smoker and the car hasn't had pets or food in it.

  • gphilpott (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Racer218 It's in the description but a month after I took delivery my retirement plans got blown up along with some other personal expenses with kid's colleges and other fun stuff and it made keeping this not a very good idea.

As I say in the description, I'd rather sell it now while basically brand new so someone else can fully enjoy this last of its breed and while I can still get a good portion of my money back without a big loss.

  • Racer218 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Why are you selling this car after only 1000 miles?

  • Porschelover30 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

The break in period in Europe is significantly less than it is in the USA. Are the European cars somehow different?
I think not. Porsche experts are all over the map when it comes to break in. Varying from already starting to gently coax revs up starting at 500 MPH.

  • gphilpott (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Thanks for the question. Not going to do an over rev report given the very low miles and that it was babied until 1,000, and then occasionally pushed past 4k in the 300 miles following. Mostly commuting miles in bumper to bumper since 1k.

This was an extreme example where I took it to the 7800 RPM limit to illustrate the sound, and the Auto Blip in Sport Mode was on so bidders could see that functioning properly as well. Car was always at proper oil temperature when I did any revs above 2k when starting out cold.

  • Steve9114Ever 1 year, 3 monthsago

Given your break in period approach would it be posit to get an over rev report

  • OttoBozart (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@gphilpott. Absolutely! You hitting the rev limiter late in the driving video is going to peak some interest. GLWTA

  • gphilpott (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@OttoBozart The manual may say that, but I spoke to PECLA, the GM, and a Porsche tech and they feel the manual is often overly conservative. You chose the follow the manual, and I chose a different break in approach. Shall we leave it up to the people who actually bid to decide which approach they prefer?

  • OttoBozart (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@gphilpott. Read your manual. Keep under 4000rpm for 2000 miles or 3000k (1864.11 miles). Salesman told my wife the same thing when she bought her BGTS4.0

  • gphilpott (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@OttoBozart Not sure what you mean, but if you are asking what break in procedure I followed, I'll answer that question. If you ask 10 expert Porsche specialists including techs, GM's, PEC drivers/instructors, etc., you will get 10 different answers on exactly what the appropriate "break in" procedure should be. The majority opinion I got from all of the people I spoke to is to keep it below 4k revs until 1,000 miles and during that time drive it as you would normally in different conditions. Once you reach 1,000 miles you can certainly open it up to red line if you wish. It has about 1,340 miles as of today so in the clear.

So for those wondering which procedure I followed, that is what I did.

  • OttoBozart (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

SMH: So much for following the break in procedure.

Welcome to those looking at this beautiful Porsche Boxster GTS 4.0. One of the last ones built in Stuttgart/Zuffenhausen.

Please review the photos and videos and if you have any questions about the car at all, please ask. I'm checking comments regularly. Keep in mind that there are 45 months or 46,700 miles left on the Porsche Factory Warranty so bid with confidence. Thanks.
