Up for auction is this 2006 Porsche 997 Carrera S Cabriolet finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black full leather interior.  In addition to its premium factory options, this 6-speed Carrera S has been equipped with a completely rebuilt 4.0L engine by Flat 6 Innovations. This powerful, high-revving naturally aspirated engine was installed within the last 5k miles and features an IPD intake plenum as well as the Jake Raby IMS bearing solution.  Currently showing approximately 46k miles on the odometer, this 4.0L 997 Carrera S is being offered for auction by its second owner out of Georgia.

This Carrera S comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a black power-operated Cabriolet top.  Under the current ownership, the top mechanism has been serviced with a new hydraulic pump and rebuilt actuators.  Clear paint protection film has been applied over the front end and the seller reports a scratch on the right rear bumper, additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This 997 rides on factory optional 19” Carrera Classic wheels with colored Porsche center crests and Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires dated from 2017.

Inside, the Carrera S highlights a premium black full leather interior with heated Sport Seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and a PCM telephone module.  New climate control knobs have been fitted and the seller describes the cabin to have been kept in very good condition apart from some wear depicted on the driver's seat.

The naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine of this Carrera S has been completely rebuilt by Flat 6 Innovations and upgraded to a 4.0L displacement.  The engine has also been equipped with an IPD intake plenum, Jake Raby’s IMS solution and bearing upgrade, a new clutch, and a new coolant tank.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission.  The engine build was completed within the last 5k miles and Flat 6 Innovations recommends a break-in period of 7,500 miles.  The seller reports that routine Liqui Moly oil changes have been carried out during their ownership as well as a transmission fluid change using Swepco 201 gear oil. Images from the engine build are provided in the gallery along with an invoice showing a cost of $32,500.

This sale will include some invoices, the original owner's manuals, a set of two keys, and a clean title. With its understated appearance and upgraded 4.0L flat-six engine, this 997 Carrera S makes an excellent choice for any discerning driver in search of a 6-speed Cabriolet.

I run the same 93 octane. Then sometimes I go to Buccess here in Texas and I run 92 ethanol free. But I can also for $9 a gallon buy Sunoco 104 race fuel, to do the Italian clean up on the intake system.

Of course! Shell V Power is all I run in it.

If I win it will I get It detailed and with a full tank of gas. Made the drive from Lexington KY to Houston many times, going thru Atlanta. On a vr6 corrado, a tr5 Volvo, 745i and a HPA twin turbo R32 ( the funnest one yet). Drift experience at xxx mph at 5:00 am in the morning. Not to shabby when you have 650 at the wheels, Koenig seats and aristo wheels.

@bselde The incorrect bid has been retracted. You may now bid the correct amount.

  • jfulku (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Thanks for the bids Guys!

  • TexCoast (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@bselde Actually 44.5 wouldn't be legit anyways. They'll need to nix your bid altogether just to open the table back up.

@bselde so your heart skip a beat for a second?
    I know mine did. :)

Hope they fix that for ya. Lol

Thx Gents! Please keep the questions coming, don’t be shy! Somebody will hopefully take the disillusion of driving this car on the weekends away from my daughter.

@burnrubr I do not recall off hand regarding the hp. Flat 6 did show me a Dyno report though. If I can find it I’ll be happy to post it.

  • jfulku (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@ez1973 Nice! I agree wholeheartedly. The mid range is where you really notice the difference IMO. I’ve never driven a Turbo but since I live in Atlanta the Porsche Driving Experience is literally 10 miles down 75 and I want to try out a Turbo. Thanks for the good word!

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

What's the current HP rating now?

  • ez1973 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

I’ll be following this auction as well. I was lucky enough to find the “cousin” to this car last year - a 2007 C4S cab, same color, with a 4.0 rebuild. With a few bolt ons the performance and driving experience are amazing! Plenty of mid range grunt, screams up top, and the glorious NA flat 6 sounds are unmatched! I absolutely love my set up and actually prefer it to my friends turbo of the same generation - he does too!! Anyway, someone lucky is gonna get an incredible machine - GLWTA!!!

  • jfulku (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@8KaboveMSL Thanks! We’ll see how she does. Fall is around the corner and I’m sure I’m not the only one out there that likes to drive fast with the top down.

  • 8KaboveMSL 2 years, 8 monthsago

GLWTA. Will be watching this one for sure. Curious how the community reacts to a 4.0L engine in a 997.1. You don’t see these for sale very often. . .

  • jfulku (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@keva58 I had a friend in TN that turned me on to the Flat 6 Innovations Shop and decided that was the way to go after seeing his car. The difference was noticeable immediately when I got it back. Was an investment for sure but worth it I think.

  • keva58 2 years, 8 monthsago

Beautiful car. What happened (if anything) that caused you to rebuild the engine?

  • jfulku (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hello to my fellow Porsche enthusiasts! Please throw any questions you may have at me. I truly love this car and do not enjoy seeing it up for sale. That said, I also do not enjoy seeing it sit in the garage. It needs to be driven. It's my third Porsche that I've owned and by far the best one. There are few like it. The car is certainly very nice but the engine is simply outstanding. The 4.0 rips and having no thoughts about an IMS bearing or bore scoring issue makes for very enjoyable drives. Thank you for your interest and good bidding!
