Available for auction is an authentic Mobil Pegasus sign thought to be from the 1930’s. This impressive Mobil Pegasus measures approximately 52”x 41” in size and was manufactured from cast aluminum weighing roughly 25 lbs. The sign features a left-facing flying horse painted in red and white and is estimated to have been manufactured between 1937-1939. The seller states it’s possible the sign was used as an early prototype as it lacks the usual refinement of later signs. 
The sign was acquired in upstate New York out of a larger collection. It is believed the original owner, owned several SOCONY-VACUUM gas stations in upstate New York and Vermont and had a large collection of signs and memorabilia in his barn.
The winged horse used to be part of the Mobil oil logo – known today as ExxonMobil after the merger with Exxon. Like every brand, the Pegasus has developed over the years and has been adapted to the popular zeitgeist. Originally derived from Greek mythology and known today as the Mobile Pegasus, it represents power, speed, performance, and immortality. The logo is now synonymous with Porsche race cars of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s and is still used to this day. 
The seller states the sign is in excellent condition considering its age with bright paintwork and only minor patina. As we're nearing the conclusion of the of the 1930's Mobil Pegasus I wanted to thank the all (3) of the bidders (@prometheus @sbsurfer and @wyoland) who have raised their electronic Paddles and put money on the line to win this prized and coveted petrolina mantiques / man cave artifact.
Per Pcar Market rules and regulations I can NOT divulge what the reserve is to win the Mobil Pegasus but I can state that the reserved has now been (significantly) LOWERED by 50% in an effort that the Pegasus will be SOLD today!
Bidders now have the best chance possible to secure this beautiful automotive / man cave antique from this deep reduction in the reserve.
There is a little more than 1 hours remaining in the auction and given that the reserve has now been lowered substantially now is the time to take a STRONG SHOT and secure this special gem.
