Available for auction is an authentic illuminated BMW M Division sign." The sign measures 46" x 27" x 6" and is in new condition having been placed in storage for years as the seller states the BMW dealership in Germany that this was acquired from was no longer selling M vehicles. The fluorescent-lit sign was made by the German company Westiform which makes all the BMW illuminated advertising. 
The legendary logo used since 1978, featuring the three stripes leaning against the M, is intended to emphasize the speed and dynamism of the BMW M series. Conceived by design studio Italdesign under the direction of Giorgio Giugiaro, it is also known as the “Giugiaro M”. Its an original Dealer sign. 100% sure.
The dealer lost the M certification.
The sign never got up. They stored the sign
It was stored at least for 6 years.
But maybe longer.
