Available for auction is a complete Porsche 993 3.6 VarioRam engine with Motor Sound Package. According to the seller, the factory long block was purchased in 2004 and has since only been driven 12k miles. The seller states the engine was running fantastically as it was pulled from a project donor car and is a "turn-key" drop-in-and-go setup. 
Also supplied with the engine is the original DME without the harness. 
This is a completely dressed engine from the air filter to the tailpipe, including a new clutch and flywheel that was installed at the same time the engine was replaced. Unique in this opportunity is, like most other factory replacement engines, this one does not have a serial number.
The seller performed a Leak Down test in preparation for the auction resulting in the following numbers:
Cylinder #1: 8%
Cylinder #2: 6%
Cylinder #3: 7%
Cylinder #4: 7%
Cylinder #5: 7%
Cylinder #6: 6%
The seller states the engine can be shipped to a shop of choice or the buyer can inquire about retrofit services provided by the seller. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

Furthermore, this engine came from an excellent condition 993 and was replaced when the car only had about 65,000 mi.
@rollow2004 The project car received a very high end 4.0 and so this engine didn't make sense as the donor. I personally drove this car and engine for about 300 mi before the project commenced and it ran flawlessly.
Do you have anymore info or history on the engine? Why was it not used in the project car?
@jploflin there's probably a variety of reasons with every one being someone's own rationale. Likely for most, it's having records.

This is perhaps a naive question, but just curious what is the significance or benefit of having or not having a serial number on it?

@chuckent, this is from a 1997, so it has drive block. There are solutions available that disable that feature.
I assume that it is a 1996 and has a driveblok ECU that cannot be flash reprogrammed?

Thank you very much for looking at this great opportunity for a low-mileage, non-serial numbered, complete VarioRam engine. This will make a great direct replacement 993 engine, or a fantastic upgrade for any prior generation 911. Please note that the leak-down test numbers were taken after the engine was removed and was consequently “cold” at the time, and this engine test very well! Leak-down numbers improve when the engine is “hot”. Please let me know if you have any questions.
