Up for auction is a uniquely built 1978 911 SC Targa.  When new, this car was equipped with authentic Ruf components and a handful of high quality upgrades, making it stand out among other models.  This 911 is said to have been sold new in Germany before making its way to California.  It now resides in Tucson, AZ and is being sold in turn key condition.

This Targa is the beneficiary of a professional respray in its original color of Petrol Blue Metallic.  The paint is said to stand in good driver-grade condition with minor blemishes.  All four fenders along with the Targa top have been equipped with high quality German fiberglass panels, giving this 911 the classic and aggressive look of a Turbo.  The seller does note slight cracking in the driver’s side fender due to a previous repair, but claims no panels have ever been replaced on the vehicle.  Additional features include: H4 headlights, solid targa top, exterior color matched headlight rings and targa bar, Ruf front bumper, steel Turbo deck lid, deleted rear bumper guards, custom muffler set up, upgraded Bilstein shocks, and black painted 15” Gotti aluminum racing wheels that wear BF Goodrich drag radials in good condition.

Inside this 911, you will find features such as black vintage cloth Recaro seats, a MOMO Ruf sport steering wheel, an upgraded head unit, custom tachometer, and a custom air-conditioning with three condensers.  The driver side seat is equipped with a heater and three-way adjustable movement setting.  As for the condition of the interior, the seller states that it is above average for its age and mileage.  All functions are in working order and there are no issues to report.

Power comes from a numbers matching 3.2L air-cooled flat-six engine that produces approximately 235HP and is connected to a 5-speed manual transmission.  A recent engine-out service was performed along with a transmission tune, lightweight aluminum fly-wheel replacement, and a new clutch.  The seller also performed a cylinder leakage test which found all six cylinders to be under 5% of loss.  The car is currently equipped with 1973 RS 2.7L camshafts, longer gears, PMO 50 mm carburetors, and a Bosch distributer.  The transmission is said to shift very linear and the engine is stated to be in excellent running condition.

The sale will include a Certificate of Authenticity, service records, books, and keys.
