DEAL TANK: 1978 Porsche 930 Turbo

This 1978 Porsche 911 Turbo is #286 out of 735 Porsche 930s produced from August 1977 to July 1978. This specific car was imported into California in 1998 where it has remained since. The car is finished in Guards Red over a Black leather interior.  Power comes from a numbers matching 3.3L flat-six turbo engine producing 265HP and 291 lb-ft torque, paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle.

In 2014, this 930 received a full repaint, converting it from its original color of White to its new Guards Red finish. The paint is said to be in excellent condition with virtually no flaws, aside from a scratch on the bottom of the rear valence (as pointed out in the photo gallery.) In 2018, a new set of BF Goodrich g-Force Sport tires were installed onto the original set of 16” Fuch wheels. The seller claims to have only driven the vehicle 1000 miles since.

The interior is reportedly in excellent condition with very minimal wear. As seen in the photo gallery, some custom upgrades have been made including: A leather wrapped steering wheel with Red stitching, leather seats with Pepita houndstooth cloth inserts, floor mats with Red Turbo lettering, Red seat belts, RUF style petal set, Rennline footboards, fire extinguisher, and an Alpine head unit.

A RUF style quad outlet Euro exhaust along with upgraded Turbo headers and scavenge pump reservoir have also been installed to this turbo.

In December 2018, this 930 received a full engine rebuild at a cost of over $18k. The seller reports the car to be in excellent mechanical condition with no issues. The sale will include all necessary documentation of this project including all receipts, and multiple photos of the entire process.

A full service was performed in July of 2015 including:

  • Upgraded K27 Turbo 7200
  • Bosch fuel accumulator
  • New Sachs clutch kit
  • New fuel injectors
  • Ignition wires
  • New struts and shocks

The seller reports to have only driven the car 1500 miles since the work has been done.

This car is being offered with a clear title, all books, all keys, tool kit, and extensive service records with documentation covering the engine rebuild and repaint.

@Km48gg agreed, looks stock quality but just a nice little extra excitement. This looks like a nice one that can actually be driven rather than sit in a collection. Good luck to the seller and future owner..

@Km48gg Thank you! I got pretty into it.
The houndstooth inserts could be replaced with leather at a minimal cost if desired. Also full size floor mats would cover the metal floorboard. Other then that it’s all pretty factory correct.

Also the COA was incorrect and when I noticed it they sent a corrected one.
I uploaded the wrong one by mistake.
It will be replaced on the site shortly.

Sorry about that. The wheels are 16". The actual tire size is 205/55ZR16

  • Dipper17 1 monthago

Interesting how the COA says 1987 Turbo Coupe and then the date of manufacture says 1978. Obviously old style VIN says its a 78.

  • Dipper17 1 monthago

Pretty sure the stock wheels in 78 were 15 by 7 and 8.

Site needs a comment edit button :)

Wheels are 16” as seen in images.

  • CBRacerX 1 monthago

Nice color changed 930. However, I think there is a typo on the wheel diameter as 17’ wheels were not original.
