Offered for auction is an 18k mile time capsule. This 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera is powered by its original M96 flat-six motor and mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The exterior is finished in Arctic Silver metallic complemented by a black partial leather interior.
In the 2002 model year, the M96 motor grew from 3.4 to 3.6 liters. The increase in displacement resulted in 320hp and 273 lb ft of torque. In addition to the extra power, the front end received the newly deigned headlights from the turbo model as well as redesigned front and rear bumpers. This fresh new look remained unchanged until the end of the 996 series.
The selling dealer rates the condition of the cars exterior as excellent with only a few minor rock ships and minor damage to the left rear bumperette (please see photo gallery.) Although undetectable by eye, a paint meter shows the front passenger fender was painted at some point.
The photos show the interior to be in excellent condition with only gentle signs of wear. The previous owner clearly took great care of the all original interior.
The original factory wheels are equipped with colored Porsche crests and wear a set of Continental Extreme Contact tires that the seller reports have 75% tread-life remaining. The gallery has many detailed high-resolution photos of the car including the undercarriage.
The seller reports the vehicle is in excellent running and driving condition. Although there are no hard copy service records, the Carfax does show some service history as well as consistent NY inspection records, verifying the low mileage on this car. The seller also stated that the IMS bearing has not been replaced. Accompanying the sale are copy of the original window sticker, 3 sets of keys, books, and Porsche C of A.
