DEAL TANK: 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo 6-speed PAINT TO SAMPLE

Up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 997 Turbo. The 997 is the second generation of the water-cooled 911 and is said by many to be the last of the analog Porsche sports cars.  Finished in rare Paint to Sample Polar Silver Metallic and equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, this Turbo represents a prime example of what is so special about this generation 911. The car started its life in Miami, Florida and was sold to a new owner from Cincinnati, Ohio in 2010. It later found a home in Waterford, Virginia where the current dealer purchased this Turbo. The seller states that this car seems to have been responsibly maintained throughout its life.

The PTS Polar Silver metallic pays homage to the 993 generation Porsche.  This color is rarely seen on newer generation 911s, making this Turbo that much more special. The seller states that the paint is all-original aside from a respray of the front bumper in order to correct rock chips. There are no flaws to note aside from a dent on the bottom of the passenger rocker panel.  Close up photos will show the true nature of this Turbo's exterior condition.  This car rides on factory lightweight 19” Turbo wheels that are stated to be in excellent condition.

This 997's interior is in excellent condition with minimal wear.  Inside, you will find factory full black leather throughout, custom ordered silver seatbelts, and instrument dials finished in white.  All electronics are stated to be in working order including the original head unit and factory sunroof.

Powered by a twin turbocharged 3.6L flat-six engine, this Turbo produces 480hp and accelerates to 60 mph in approximately 3.2 seconds.  Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.  The car has received a recent service including: fluid changes, filter changes, new plugs, and new coils. Additionally, the Carfax  shows that this Turbo has been meticulously cared for and maintained since new.

The sale will include a clean Carfax, original books, service records, and 2 keys.

@Rfaguirre yes that was the part. What was happening was on a cold start it would only on rare occasion rev up to around 3500-4k RPM but because the engine wasn't warm it was counting as a range 6. Deeper into my ownership of the car it started doing it very frequently and that is how we nailed the problem.

@EUROsellinc was the sensor the crank position sensor? And if so, was it just throwing errors for the higher revs? Or was it causing the engine to rev past redline at startup?

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 1 week, 6 daysago

@Rfaguirre yes. We actually determined that it was a sensor that was producing the over revs on a cold start. It took thousands of dollars at Porsche including the computer being replaced to eventually a Rennlist post that nailed the culprit. The car is mechanically sound and has no issues. If anyone is uncomfortable we would not expect them to bid, but I can say that the car runs and drives fantastic and there are no signs of abuse anywhere.

@drivereallyfast since the post is from 2015, shouldn't the damage have been found if there was damage from overrevs? That said it's still something to be mindful of

This car has a rough history. Just search the VIN. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turbo-forum/860352-help-reading-dme-report.html
