Reported to be a two-owner car from new, this 1953 example is said to have been in the possession of its second owner since 1971. The penultimate T-Series Midget, this final year TD features chrome bumpers, a folding windscreen, a soft top with side curtains, and a rear-mounted spare wheel. This charming 1953 MG is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio while showing approximately 14k miles on the 5-digit odometer.
The exterior is finished in Red with contrasting beige side steps and fenders. A new black soft top is said to have been installed in 2018 along with matching side curtains. The car has been previously refinished and is noted by the seller to be free of rust and wood rot. The driver’s side door is reported to sag slightly, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. This MG rides on a set of classic 15” wire wheels with center knock-off hubs and Continental tires.
Inside, you will find a tan leather-trimmed interior with a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, wooden dashboard paneling, polished fittings, a glove compartment, analog instrumentation, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. All gauges are said to be functioning properly with interior flaws limited to a few loose bolts on the driver seat and a loose handbrake lever. The windshield wiper blade is also said to be in need of replacement.
This MG is equipped with a 1250cc XPAG inline-four dual-carbureted engine which sends approximately 54 HP to the rear wheels through a non-synchronized 4-speed manual gearbox.
