A recreation of Porsche’s iconic 356A Speedster, this replica is based on a 1968 Volkswagen chassis and was professionally built by Vintage Speedsters of Hawaiian Gardens, CA in 2003. It is finished in silver with a black convertible soft top over a tan leatherette interior and derives power from an air-cooled 1,600cc VW engine with dual carburetors and a 4-speed manual transmission. Reported to be a lifelong Southern California car, this Speedster replica is now being offered for auction.
The handcrafted fiberglass bodywork sits atop a 1968 Volkswagen chassis which is mated to a custom-built steel subframe. It is finished in silver with a complementing black convertible soft top and rides on 15” slotted steel wheels with chromed hubcaps dressed in Kumho tires from 2007. Equipment includes a driver’s side mirror, painted bumpers with chrome trim, teardrop-style taillights, front fender “Porsche” badging, rear 1600 Speedster badging, and a vented rear decklid. The seller notes cosmetic blemishes including paint cracking on the edge of the driver’s door, paint chipping below the rear badging, and scratches on the underside of the front bumper. The cabin is appointed with tan leatherette upholstery complemented by matching carpeting and a painted dashboard. Details include a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, vintage-style gauges, and “Porsche” badging on the passenger-side dashboard. The seller notes that a stereo CD player and speakers were added. Apart from the steering wheel horn button, all gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This Speedster replica is equipped with an air-cooled 1,600cc VW flat-four-cylinder engine with dual carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that this example has been serviced by a local mechanic for many years and there are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.

@AlgoMas Thank you. Also, yes, the miles on the car are higher than most of the other Speedsters currently available for sale, however, the car runs Great and Strong and maintenance has been kept up.
