We are pleased to present this outlaw-style 1959 Porsche 356A replica finished in Silver over a Navy Blue leather and houndstooth interior.  Powered by a custom built 2110cc Volkswagen engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, this 356A replica has been driven just over 1k miles since it was completed by JPS Motorsports in 2017.  With a recent tune-up and oil change performed under the care of its current owner in Maryland, this tastefully configured replica is ready to be enjoyed.

The Silver paint is stated to be in pristine overall condition (detailed images are available in the photo gallery).  Titled as a 1968 Volkswagen, this 356 is built upon a VW pan with replica fiberglass body panels making for an authentic look.  It has been indicated that JPS currently maintains a wait time of approximately 2 years for one of their 356 builds. Noteworthy details on this example include a through-hood gas tank and window vents sourced from Emory Motorsports, leather hood straps, Mobil pegasus side graphics and deep-dish steel wheels.  The seller also indicates that headlight grilles will be included with the sale.

Inside, you will find a Navy Blue leather interior appointed with houndstooth replica 356 bucket seats, a Vintage Speed short shifter and German weave carpeting.  The cabin is said to be in excellent condition with power operated side windows and a Blaupunkt Bluetooth head unit with speakers.

Power comes from a custom-built air cooled 2110cc 4-cylinder Volkswagen engine paired with a newly built 4-speed Volkswagen manual transmission.  Performance features include a sport exhaust, a front sway bar and 4-wheel disc brakes as well as an additional oil cooler.  A recent 1000-mile service was performed by Intersport Porsche of Ashburn, Virginia which included an oil change and carburetor adjustment.  Offered in exceptional driving condition with just over 1k miles showing on the odometer, this 356 replica is just waiting for a new owner.

Included in the sale are ignition key and door lock keys, a clear title, original build specifications, a maintenance book, service records and headlight grilles.  Showcasing outlaw-inspired styling and a freshly built drivetrain, this high-quality 356A replica offers an excellent value.

@Skindoc According to John from JPS, who built this car, the wet weight is 1800 pounds.

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@Skindoc Sorry I missed this question. I don't know the weight, but just sent an email to John at JPS to see if he can provide me a good estimate. Will post when I hear from him.

I have submitted several videos to Pcar for upload. Cold start, walk around and a few driving. I have also submitted several pictures of the engine build specs and JPS build specs to the photo gallery. Pcar should have them uploaded shortly.

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@Grandy99 The car drives incredibly smooth at highway speeds. I have no concerns with cruising along at 65-75 on the DC beltway. The car does not have a clear bra.

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@Skindoc New case full flowed for external oil filter, 82mm counter weighted and balance crank. 90.5 bore Mahle barrels and pistons. Rods are stock VW, 110 Rated Scat Cam, VW stock rockers with swivel feet on 0.41 VW heads, 40x35 valves. 40 Dual Weber’s. CB performance distributor. Lightened flywheel, 200MM Sachs clutch and cover. ~125 HP

I have always been a fan of the 356A Coupe, but this replica is very appealing for obvious reasons. Can you tell me how it handles at highway speeds? Also how have you avoided paint chips in the front? Is there a protective film? Thanks in advance!

I have received several requests for a walk around video and cold start video. The weather here in the mid-Atlantic has been rather wet for the past two days. Hopefully it will clear out and I can capture the requested videos and get them uploaded by tomorrow afternoon.

Just put my eyes on this stunner for a friend this morning. The car shows better than the pictures and you can have confidence in the Seller - both are top notch. Bid with confidence, you won't be disappointed.

@LeaderInLA A friend of mine and I both ordered cars from JPS at the same time. I got a speedster and he got this outlaw. We are both a bit car crazy! I kept my speedster for about a year and then sold it on when my .2 GT3 arrived. My friend had this car for about 2 years and only put 2-300 miles on it. I took it off his hands about a year ago and put the balance of the current miles on it. I have a GT4 coming so time to pass this one along to the next owner. It really is a fun, simple car to drive and enjoy.

  • LeaderInLA 3 years, 7 monthsago

Great looking Outlaw. You set it up just right.
Two questions: (1) why so few miles; and (2) why are you selling it?

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@Zeekojr I have submitted a picture of the window controls to PCAR. Not sure how long it will take for them to upload it to the gallery.

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@Zeekojr controls for the power windows are mounted under the dash on the left hand side. Just below the ignition switch. I will get a picture of this and upload it to the portfolio. My bad for not capturing this feature in the original picture submission.

  • Zeekojr (registered bidder) 3 years, 7 monthsago

Where are the controls for the power operated side windows??

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@Freemaha See picture 44 for location of lever mentioned for opening the heat flaps.

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@Freemaha This car does have heat, pulled from the engine like typical VW's. Lever next to the E-Brake opens the flaps. Manual silver colored slide doors in the footwell's is the heat output to the cabin.

I think JPS offers and A/C option, although this car was not specified to include A/C.

    Thanks for asking.

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@ppalmer The ignition key is located in it "proper" Porsche location to the left side of the dash. See picture 35.

  • Freemaha (registered bidder) 3 years, 7 monthsago

Love it! Much better than the speedster replicas you see everywhere. Although I love those too don’t get me wrong. Curious if this one has or if you can get these with Heat and A/C? Obviously anything is possible for the right money. I am wondering if they offer as an option.

  • ppalmer (registered bidder) 3 years, 7 monthsago

    BEAUTIFUL CAR !

WHERE IS THE IGNITION KEY LOCATED ?

  • Dbuck913 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

Welcome to the auction for my 356 Outlaw replica. It’s a fun car to drive and looks the part. I am happy to answer any and all questions.
