  • Year: 1963
  • Make: Porsche
  • Model: 356 B Super Cabriolet
  • VIN: 158621
  • Mileage: 88,000mi (5-digit odometer)
  • Transmission: Manual
  • Title Status: Clean
  • Color: Ivory
  • Seller Type: Dealer
  • Location: Montréal, QC H2C 1N8
  • Dealer Fees: None
  • Lot #: V-0040813

For the 1962 model year, Porsche launched the T6 program, featuring updated Reutter bodywork that included a unique twin-grille rear decklid design for the 356B. Representing the final year of the 356B production, this 1963 1600 Super Cabriolet comes finished in Ivory over red leather upholstery. Cared for by the original owner until 2022 and subsequently passed on to the owner's spouse, this meticulously maintained example is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of Canada.

This 356 was refinished in its factory-specified shade of Ivory (6204) in 2000. It equips a black convertible top and chrome accents on the bumpers, headlight rings, door handles, and window moldings. Additionally, it features a polished driver's side mirror, a twin-grille rear decklid, gold model lettering, and 15" slotted steel wheels adorned with chrome Porsche-crested hubcaps. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings.

The cabin presents red leather upholstery, spanning the seats, door panels, and upper dashboard. Matching carpets line the floors, while additional details include an exterior-colored dashboard, a black-finished 3-spoke steering wheel, and chrome accents. The equipment also includes an analog quartz clock, a Porsche-crested horn button, a locking glovebox, and a Blaupunkt radio.

The air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four engine was rated at 75 HP and sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox. Equipment includes dual carburetors, a Bosch ignition coil, and finned aluminum drum brakes. The seller states fluids were flushed yearly and reports no signs of leakage.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s booklets, Blaupunkt radio literature, some tools, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a super rare opportunity to own what is basically a one-owner original Porsche 356B Super Cabriolet. Aside from the respray, this example remains unrestored. It was babied and pampered by its original owner, a doctor, and passed on to his spouse. This beauty 356 is ready for Chapter II. Any writers in the room?”

@heythere the comment section is for constructive conversation, you pointed out the bumperettes and it was noted. Please try to imagine if it were you selling a vehicle, you would want the conversation kept to a respectful course.

  • Classiccarrestorer 1 month, 3 weeksago

Seller seems to always answer the questions by not answering them. Good at dancing around them with WOW, Easy, No worries, Just take a paint brush no problem etc.

Reading the comments the seller was asked about the vin plate and front trunk compartment many times and posted the vin plate cropped and a half pic of the front tub in the dark not to show the tub had repair work and the vin plate was half eaten out. Also mentioned was a colour difference of paint on the panels which you can clearly see and it was still denied. I would highly advise a PPI to know what you’re getting into.

@Classiccarrestorer Thanks. Yes, I’ve also been there

  • Classiccarrestorer 1 month, 3 weeksago

    @Harboc
You can clearly see there’s something going on in the front because underneath the subframe seems to have quite a bit of rust as well as the front tub looks to have been worked on or replaced. You can see it’s been cut and welded in the pictures so could be an accident or rust, who knows. The vin plate is eaten out from rust as well. No hoist pictures so hard to know the condition of the whole undercarriage.

Would still make a nice driver for someone one but definitely not rust free or unmolested. I’ve restored many of these over the years and let me tell you there’s always fun surprises when you strip the body to bare metal.

  • Harboc 1 month, 3 weeksago

Seems to have at least surface rust underneath battery box and nearby as well.
    ??

  • AlexBert (seller) 1 month, 3 weeksago

@Harboc No Rust. Babied & pampered in perfect heated garage.

  • Harboc 1 month, 3 weeksago

    Rust anywhere?

  • AlexBert (seller) 1 month, 3 weeksago

@Owners911 Just an illusion. The under intense bright winter Sun reflecting from snow banks. Car was Repainted once to give it a fresh look. Like you repaint some rooms in your house once in a while. Same logic applies here. Not because of an accident. Not because of rust or damage. We know who did it. A Strong 8 out of 10. Door gaps and panels are ALL EXQUISITE. 🪄 🪄🪄 🪄

Next Custodian will be VERY HAPPY.

In picture #13 there seems to be a noticeable colour difference in the door, rear quarter panel and front fender? Was the car repainted at different times due to an accident or possibly rust? Possible to elaborate? Thank you.

    @seller

I’m also wondering if any rust ? Possible to take photos of floor pans properly please?

Also in picture 96, it appears that where the bracket/ sub frame attaches to the main floor pan in the middle , it seems like it is rusting/ rotting out. Possible to take picture of that area please as rust definitely seems present there in the middle of the V shaped bracket.
    Thanks

Thanks for bringing the car to auction!

    Couple of questions. (Interested bidder)

Is this car matching numbers? Any COA or Kardex available to prove it’s match number ?

    Thank you.

  • peterten (registered bidder) 1 month, 3 weeksago

Nice B. Is it just the odo that’s in km? The speedometer looks to be imperial. Was any documented history kept?
Also, what was the extent of the respray (i.e, glass out; top, bumpers, handles, and trim removed, etc.)? Any photos prior to?
