1965 Porsche 356C 1600 Coupe

Now up for auction is this 1965 Porsche 356C 1600 Coupe finished in Signal Red over a black interior.  Built for the final production year of Porsche’s iconic 356 model, this 1965 356C 1600 Coupe was reportedly restored by a previous owner before being acquired by its seller about 10 years ago.  It has been meticulously cared for ever since as part of a prominent classic car collection in North Carolina.  Having been thoroughly refurbished while still retaining its number’s matching drivetrain, this late model 356C is now being offered for auction accompanied by a toolkit, jack, spare tire, and copy of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

During previous ownership, this 356 is said to have been completely refinished in its factory specified color of Signal Red.  The paint and brightwork are reported to be in very nice condition as well as the floor pans which have received a protective coating.  Front fog lights are equipped and the original wheels have been chromed and dressed in period-style Michelin XZX tires.

Inside, you will find a fully restored black interior with all-new square weave carpeting, leather upholstery, and headliner.  The leather luggage straps have been replaced and Coco mats have been added along with a Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel.  The original Blaupunkt radio has been retained and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly. The 5-digit odometer currently reads just over 78,000 miles.

This 356C carries its original air-cooled 1600cc flat-four engine which is paired with a numbers matching 4-speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels.  Weber carburetors have been installed by the current owner and all mechanical systems have reportedly been refreshed during the restoration under previous ownership.  This 356 is stated to run and drive beautifully having always received proper routine maintenance.  Images of the drivetrain stampings and Porsche COA are provided in the photo gallery.

This sale will include a toolkit, a jack, spare tire, a copy of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.  This nicely restored 1965 example may just be the 356 you have been looking for, do not let this opportunity pass you by.

@Bills65 Not at all, I'm not sure what you are referring to in photo 39, as that is the kick panel passenger side, not the floor.

  • Bills65 (registered bidder) 1 month, 3 weeksago

A little misleading, fully restored black interior I see seats, carpet, headliner as new.
Dash, door panels, rear seats, rear panels all seam to be old original . Also what dripped on the carpet in Photo #39?

@rhmoritz Oddly, no there is no provision for a drivers headrest. I'll work with the PCar Team to get a video uploaded.

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 1 month, 3 weeksago

Is there a matching head rest for the driver's seat? Can you provide a brief start up/driving video?
