Offered for auction is this 1967 Mercedes-Benz W113 250SL finished in White over a dark green MB-Tex interior.  Replacing both the iconic 300SL and 190SL models, the W113-generation was debuted at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show featuring a unique removable hardtop whose shape earned it the “pagoda” nickname.  Produced from December of 1966 to January of 1968, the 250SL model is among the rarest of the W113 series and offered a sportier feel from the factory with a stiffer suspension and a new straight-six engine.  This 1967 example has been upgraded to a larger 2.8L engine along with a 4-speed manual transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, and new Bilstein shock absorbers.  An excellent European roadster for any vintage motoring enthusiast, this 1967 250SL is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This W113 comes finished in White with a brown retractable soft top and a removable black pagoda roof.  Chrome brightwork extends from the front grille to the rocker moldings, bumpers, windscreen frame, headlamp surrounds, and driver-side mirror.  The factory 14” steel wheels come fitted with painted hubcaps and 185/70 Bridgestone Insignia SE whitewall tires.  A full-size spare wheel and tire are also included in the trunk.  Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is lined with black square weave carpeting and comes fitted with a pair of low-back bucket seats trimmed in dark green MB-Tex upholstery matching the dash and door panels.  The painted dashboard houses analog VDO instrumentation including a clock as well as temperature controls and a vintage Becker Europa II radio.  An A/C compressor has been installed and a vintage under-dash A/C system will accompany the sale.

This W113 has been fitted with a larger fuel-injected 2.8L straight-six engine borrowed from a later 280SL model.  The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission and disc brakes are equipped at all corners.  New Bilstein shock absorbers have been fitted and recent service is said to include replacement of the cowl drain hoses and shifter linkage bushings.

This sale will include a clean title, some service records, and a vintage under-dash A/C system.

@Jfortesr the paint isn't original. It's been repainted years ago. Thanks.

  • VintageCarCollector (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Jahan This is the condition we purchased the vehicle. It looks like the floor boards and the undercarriage have been worked on, but that's all we know about the car. Thanks.

What’s known about the ownership history? How many owners and where it’s lived? Some of the recent service documentation looks like it was in South Carolina?

  • VintageCarCollector (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

Hello bidders, I am here to answer your questions. Feel free to ask. That's a very nice Pagoda! Thanks.
