This 1968 Porsche 911 Coupe was modified under the care of its previous owner of over 60 years including an upgraded 2.4-liter flat-six engine from a 1973 example. It also features 911S-spec brakes and suspension, front and rear spoilers, 911R-style Porsche script decals, Dansk heat exchangers, oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, a three-spoke Personal steering wheel, an original Blaupunkt radio, upgraded speakers, and updated Fuchs alloy wheels. Acquired by the seller from its longtime owner’s estate, this tastefully modified 911 Coupe is now being offered for auction out of New York.

This short-wheelbase Coupe is finished in white and customized with a 911S-style front bumper spoiler, an RS-style ducktail rear spoiler, 911R-style Porsche script side decals, black rear Porsche lettering, H7 headlights, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels from a later model 911. Other equipment includes chrome door handles and headlamp bezels, a polished driver’s side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, pop-out quarter windows, and chrome rear bumperettes with rubber overriders. The seller indicates the front and rear spoilers are made from fiberglass and the car was refinished many years ago, although the paint remains in good overall condition. The Pirelli P4 tires have production date codes from 2008. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior features leather seats with headrests and lap belts, updated door cards, tan Porsche-branded floor mats, brushed aluminum dashboard trim, and a three-spoke Personal E. Fittipaldi steering wheel. Other accessories include a leather Porsche-crested shift knob, an original Blaupunkt radio, and aftermarket speakers with an additional speaker mounted under the dashboard.

Power comes from an air-cooled 2.4-liter flat-six engine sourced from a 1973 Porsche 911 and fitted with dual Weber carburetors, upgraded oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, and Dansk heat exchangers. A 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The car also features upgraded brakes and suspension from a 911S. The seller indicates the car was recently serviced with rebuilt carburetors, timing adjustments, and tuning. Some minor oil leaks are believed to be coming from the valve cover gaskets.

This 911 is accompanied by a bill of sale and a transferrable registration.

The seller would like you to know: “This is going to make a very solid driver for someone. Lots of great little upgrades that make it really fun to drive. Overall, its super reliable and ready to take on long road trips or to car shows. Well sorted and turns heads anywhere you take it.”

  • genevaforeign (seller) 8 months, 1 weekago

@Tangerine912 I can not confirm how long the previous owner truly had it. His family told me this was his favorite and that he has had it the longest. As for the exhaust, it appears to have been gutted. Pretty ugly but sounds good.

Dear Sales , "previous owner of over 60 years including" Can you clarify if this is a 1 owner car of 55? years ? also what's the muffler situation exiting out passenger side, do you know reason ? thanks

  • genevaforeign (seller) 8 months, 1 weekago

@Mspohn I honestly couldn't tell you. I appears that it was gutted. Nice sounding but isn't the prettiest!

@genevaforeign Whats the reason for the exhaust exiting on the passenger side instead of the original exit? Thanks!

  • genevaforeign (seller) 8 months, 1 weekago

@Mspohn You are correct. And that would be the correct belt for 68. Hard to find the shoulder strap in a lot of these earlier cars.

  • Mspohn (registered bidder) 8 months, 1 weekago

@genevaforeign Thank you! The listing mentions lap belts but I think I see shoulder belts for the front mounted in 77 and 84. Can you confirm?

@Mspohn I just went and took a look. It's just where degreaser splashed on the tire when they were cleaning it. So the spot is clean and the rest of the tire is dirty... (hard to find good help I tell ya!) :)

@XHILLR8 All gauges are working. The radio is operational although I haven't tried every function of it. It's sinful to take away from the sounds of the 911's engine :) Gaskets seep but nothing outside of what I'd consider normal for an aircooled Porsche. As for upcoming maintenance, I don't think there is much I can think of. The car was well taken care of and used regularly. It has the upgraded oilers, valvetrain sounds good. We just did a oil change and cleaned the fuel system and carbs. The car really rips. Should be a great driver!

  • XHILLR8 (registered bidder) 8 months, 1 weekago

I can see a few of the gauges work on the cold start video. Are all gauges/levers, etc. functional? Does the radio function? Any longer term maintenance needs outside of leaking gaskets? Thanks for the info.
