This 1970 Porsche 911T Targa is said to have originated on the West Coast and features a numbers-matching 2.2-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It has been refinished in red and customized with period Recaro sport seats, a MOMO steering wheel, billet aluminum Rennline control knobs, Koni suspension, Weber carburetors, and a stainless-steel Dansk sport exhaust system. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this air-cooled Targa is now being offered for auction out of South Carolina.
The classic long-hood bodywork has been refinished in bright red from its original color of Sepia Brown. Equipment includes yellow-tinted headlamps and fog lights, chrome trim, a brushed aluminum Targa bar, a removable black vinyl-covered roof panel, front vent windows, dual polished mirrors, twin center-mounted tailpipes, factory tinted glass, and 15” Fuchs-style wheels dressed in new Yokohama tires. The seller notes some scratches and chips in the paint, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The black leatherette interior features brushed aluminum dashboard trim, a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, a wood 917-style shift knob, a new parcel shelf, and vintage Recaro sport seats. Other accessories include billet aluminum Rennline control knobs, a Sony Bluetooth head unit with a 400W internal amplifier, and four 6.5” JBL speakers. The seller notes that the blower controls are functional but there is no heat due to the aftermarket headers. All gauges and accessories are said t be working properly except for the rear window defroster.
The air-cooled 2.2-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The engine has been upgraded with Weber carburetors, K&N air filters, and a Dansk stainless-steel sport exhaust system. The seller indicates there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time. Images of the engine serial number are provided in the gallery.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery charger, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.

Vehicle has had a lot of work done since purchased
Sold for $52,500 in 2022. Final bid looked to be in real-world market range.
Such a shame these great 1970s Porsche colors are being painted re-sale red. My 1970 911T Targa, built 120 cars after this one, was Olive from the factory until it was also painted red. Now in process of putting it back to factory.
This one is a clean car otherwise.
