We are pleased to present this 1970 Porsche 911T Coupe finished in Burgundy Red over black leatherette interior with factory Recaro Sport Seats. This first-year 2.2L 911 was acquired by the seller from its original owner in 1984 and has since undergone a top-end engine rebuild along with a number of upgrades and tasteful modifications.  Reported to have always been garage kept and sparingly driven, this 911T is said to retain its numbers matching drivetrain and is now being offered by its longtime owner out of Michigan with approximately 62k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911 is finished in Burgundy Red (2424) and features the factory optional “Comfort Kit” which includes 911S rubber moldings, chrome rocker panels, and rubber bumperette overriders.  During the seller's ownership, a 1973 911S steel front spoiler was installed along with a Carrera RS ducktail rear spoiler, Bosch driving lights, and European turn signal and taillight lenses.  The car is said to have undergone a professional partial respray during the mid-1990s and the seller notes a very minor dent at the bottom of the right front fender as well as some road-going wear behind the rear wheels, additional images are provided in the gallery. This 911T rides on its original 14” Fuchs alloy wheels which feature gloss black painted centers, colored crests, and Sumitomo HRT200 tires showing date codes from 2005.

The interior of this 911 is upholstered in black leatherette and features sought-after factory Recaro Sport Seats with corduroy inserts.  It was also optioned with a tinted and heated rear window, as well as Comfort Kit features including 911S-type instrument gauges, velour carpeting, and aluminum door sills.  The seller has added an upgraded Blaupunkt Bremen SQR45 stereo and rear speakers, along with a Personal Fitti E3 3-spoke steering wheel. A crack is noted on the dashboard and the seller reports all instrumentation to be fully functional aside from the clock.

This 911T is powered by its original 2.2L flat-six engine which was treated to a top-end rebuild during the mid-1990s at 51k miles along with upgraded Carrera chain tensioners, refinished 911E pistons and camshafts, rebuilt Weber carburetors with K&N air filters, an MSD Ignition and distributor, and factory-style sport exhaust. Other performance modifications include Turbo tie rods, a front shock tower brace, and stainless-steel braided brake lines.  An oil change has been carried out along with the installation of new batteries in preparation for sale, and the seller reports that documentation is available dating back to the original purchase. Images of the undercarriage are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include a toolkit, spare Fuchs wheel, and a clean title. Also included are the original steering wheel, exhaust system, decklid, Becker radio, Permatune ignition, and air cleaners. With its desirable factory options, tasteful upgrades, and long-term ownership, this 1970 example makes the perfect long hood 911 for any aspiring air-cooled Porsche owner.

@eurocol Picture 158 clearly shows 14”x5.5” wheels as an option on the original invoice from Stoddard Imported Cars.

    @PCARMARKET_MODERATOR

    great thanks

  • eurocol (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Thank you;

The comfort package is code 470
also refered to as the S package, and if you check the various forums,
you will see that it comprises of the following:

-gold Porsche and model emblem letters
    -aluminum door sills
    -S wide rubber on bumpers
    -chrome rocker panels
    -S instruments
    -rubber pads on bumperets
    -leather wrapped steering wheel.

    It doesn't mention 14" wheels,
Apparently the only Porsche 911 models of that era that would have 14" wheels are 911 models supplied with the hydropneumatic suspension, almost exclusively the 911E series.

@eurocol Thank you for your comments.
I had this vehicle on Deal Tank for a week or so, then decided to turn my listing into an auction.
The 14"x5.5" Fuchs wheels are original to this vehicle and were part of the Comfort Package. The Comfort Package was an available option and included replacing the standard 15"x5.5" wheels with 14"x5.5" wheels for improved ride comfort. The 15" x 6.0" wheels that you referenced was optional.
An image of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and the original Stoddard invoice has been added to the photo gallery.

@eurocol thank you for your interest. For clarity, this lot was previously offered in DEALTANK and is now, for the first time, being auctioned. We ask that you satisfy yourself by reviewing images 150 and 158 in the listing gallery.

    Looks like an ok car,
but I am surprised to see it up for sale again on this site.
It was a no sale on Pcarmarket a while back,
then on deal tank with a buy now price of $ 92K,
but now it seems all the history has been deleted???
The car has been highly modified, and the original and valuable deep 6"x15" wheels
have vanished, although the seats are still there.
A Certificate of Authenticity would be nice,
as well as steel rivets to secure the vin tag instead of screws,
    see picture 104.
Long term ownership is not always a plus....
I hope you have revised your expectations and that the car gets a new home:

I'm a PCA member, too. Love the Burgundy Red! Thank you for the driving video. Do you have compression and leak down numbers? Thanks!

Hello, I am selling my Beautiful Burgundy 1970 Porsche 911T. I knew the original owner who purchased this vehicle new and I purchased this vehicle from him in 1984. I am only the second owner and it always has been garaged and only driven in nice weather. It has been my pride and joy and has been a pleasure use vehicle only during my ownership. I have been a PCA member since 1986 and active in the club for many years.
I recently retired and do not drive the vehicle enough to justify keeping it. It is time for it to move on to a new caretaker.
Bid with confidence and let me know if I can be of any assistance. Thank You.
